"Where wisdom and valor fail, all that remains is faith. And it can overcome all." Biologically, that is part of it. Survive and reproduce for the survival of the majority. Empathy is the base of all morality, and empathy is there for survival. Sociopaths don't organize well, not for extended periods of time at least. Philosophically, of course, it is boring. The bible is a book, you are free to believe it or not, the brain washing is done by humans. Brain washing is done in the name of many things, not just religion. A rather interesting article, some of the points mentioned there are quite sensible. The author is right in the idea that people should just be a little more tolerant - the future of the world is in our hands, we need to cooperate and all that. Religious people are not offensive to me, as long as they don't start forcing their religion on me. I see religion as a hobby, like collecting Pokemon cards or something. It is rather embarrassing for grown up people to do that, but it is their business, why should I tell them it is stupid? Now, if they start running along streets and trying to convince people to start collecting those cards, or tell people that those who don't, die a horrible death, then of course I would tell them to stuff their cards where the sun don't shine. It is true that Christians have done good things for the world, only I don't think that too many of those come from the Christianity fact - they may have been religious, but did absolutely different things. So, I agree that it is not the religion or the absence of it that makes a person good or bad. But I disagree with the author's ideas about the value of human life. Like Lexus said - if my enemy dies, why should I be sad? Some people's lives are not that valuable at all. Also, I disagree with Japan being a bad example, lol. The article had some funny pictures, I liked that. dont mind this one http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/7434/antrozsiggy.png http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc118/oSIVo/Antroz94copy.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn16/Dewey606/Ally-Antroz94.png http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/4298/antroz.png http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu52/IconicSpaceMail/Ant-SA.jpg?t=1240667876 http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/4307/antrozsig.png http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/4307/antrozsig.png http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/6720/8021.page acronym http://images.icanhascheezburger.com/completestore/2008/10/24/128693327232183638.jpg -------------------------------- I think this is beyond my mortal powers -_-;; http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/4307/antrozsig.png http://www.spore.com/static/war/images/global/CreationFrame_myspore_128.png [img]http://fc02.deviantart.com/fs39/f/2008/362/a/6/Akita_Neru__Angry_by_Kamui_Gakuko.gif[/img
