How many epics?

In creature stage, I've got a planet with one of the smaller continents. [b]It has SEVEN epics on it. [/b]

And all of them fly, so that's another issue... It stinks, you can't go anywhere without one of those hissing, screaming idiots stamping on things.

Just idle, very idle, curiosity.

I'm doing my 15 minutes of due diligence to Spore this week and trying to finish off this last creature.

I'm compulsive like that...

i think 4 or 5 is the limit. but i think they randomly change throughout the brain levels. remember that they are made from regular creatures. and my epics usually have a normal race somewhere on the planet. try to ally with them and the epic usually follows their mood.

That's why I wondered. Only ever saw 5 before.

The highest i had was due to a bug in an early version of BetterSpore in tribal phase so it doesn't really count. It caused the epics to spawn in packs like the regular animals so I ended up with a dozen or more on just my starting continent >.<

When you're on the planet, look at the tool Icons down on the lower left corner. I usually hit the pause button before messing with any of them, just so while you're on the other screens looking, horrible stuff is not happening on the planet (or you're not just standing around starving).

There is the Icon that is all little boxes, like a checkerboard with all the same color squares. That will bring up the sporepedia for the individual planet. It's only available, AFAIK, in creature. Have not looked for it in other places.

Lol, I have had 5 before, but that many! It's kinda fun though, avoiding them or whatever.

I guess it also depends on the difficulty setting of the game as to how many epics you get. Unlucky on the flying thing mind!

Difficulty is EASY.

I never play higher than that unless I'm after a specific achievement.

I don't think of them as Easy, etc.

Mundane >> Annoying >> Incredibly Annoying.

Difficulty has nothing to do with how many epics you have. Trust me I played easy and found 3, and in Hard I found 1! I searched the hole contienent for them( no not including the sea monster I found!) :shock:

Hey! Thats MY thread... And it was an EASY game, like most of mine are.

Since difficulty in Spore has nothing to do with the amount expertise one needs to finish the level, only the amount of annoyance you're willing to put up with.

Yeah. The highier the difficulty the more hate you get from other creatures. It's not like they're smarter and will try to hunt you down.

As for epics, I didn't find any last time I played through. The only one I saw was in the tribal stage. I was pretty amazed at the lack of giants roaming my game.

Usually, you don't find them if you don't take the time to look for them. Once, I was in creature stage found no epics. Thats probably because I followed my migration route, and didn't wander to far from my nest. Plus, I was eager to get into Tribe stage, so I didn't want to find one :P. But yeah, If you don't explore a bit, you probably won't find one. P.S especially rogues, you don't see them from far away :-).

Yeah, I'm still curious about this. I've got another game with 9 in it now.

I still think these two are related to my having run all the way through creature stage without evolving in those two games. I did all my evolutions in those two after I was clear to go to tribe (but didnt').

I'm always curious about the density of epics, since those two games happened to me.

I do explore a lot. I think I only found two or [the average] three on my last creature play-through.

I posted the sporepedia for one of the planets in this thread. It has to be glitchness to have that many, but I'm not sure if it was a provoked glitch, or just typical spore randomness.

I've encountered 3. They were two of my creations. Almost miraclously, they turned out to be my renditions of Sonic and Knuckles, who appeared at the same time in the Creature stage, Sonic throwing me into the sea.

Tails was later found in the tribal stage.

Coincidence?

Were you playing offline?

I see my own rogues all the time, on and offline. This doesn't surprise me, because typically when I leave a creature's development, they are able to be selected as a rogue.

When I played offline, before I had a really well rounded buddy list, I often saw my own creatures as epics.

Most of the 300+ planets I've played had 1 - 3 epics on them (I explore very thoroughly).

I've noticed that hard games have a way bigger number of epics. But... I've never encountered more than 5 in one game--and that's on a hard game file. But I'm figuring that the epic-population is mostly chance.

To an extent, but that's why I asked Davo if he'd seen a cap for the upper limit. To have 8 or 9 is pretty excessive. LOL
