They pay a lot of money for successful missions.
They only allow the Worthy to meet Steve.
They are the ultimate pioneers. They can thrive in T0, where other species would simply die.
There would be more pain and suffering if the Grox were not there, because the smaller empires all fight amongst each other. With all of their systems, they prevent these small empires from living there, which in turn stops some major wars that would happen if all the empires were joined together. The quality of life is better with them, even if they have to conquer for it to happen. there is virtually no war within 30 stars of the Core.

For only machines can know the truth, and the grox are the walkers of both roads, not fully machines yet, but they are getting there. You say there would be less war with the Grox gone, but wouldn't that take away everything all the empire's in the galaxy hold In common. It would destroy what holds the Galaxy together. The Grox are a noble race that volenteered to gaurd the center of the Galaxy. Having them destroyed would cause the other races to fight more aggresivley towards each other. This reminds me of the time animal control sent me out on a tip to pick up a wolf chained to a garage. I ended up making friends with him after spending 45 minutes in the dark, in a driveway, lying on my back and making puppy sounds until he trusted me and didn't think I was a threat -- he was a VERY alpha wolf. You mean the name of the organization? And it may seem strange, but it is called Magma (that is why Magma is in my screen name).

Second..Girl scouts?? No way. You wouldn't even catch me in something like that. Magma is a military-focused organization, and it is actually very difficult to reach a high rank. But for some reason they just gave me a high rank, which confuses me.

Yet again, I don't know how they knew about the Grox, since they kept that from me. And after two years of working for them I never even saw any classified information of theirs including the Grox. Therefore, I don't know. (By the way, I am no longer a member of this organization because of their hate for the Grox. They threatened to kill me so I was forced to leave).

Yes, I soon found out that more people knew of them. I believe it is only the members of the organization though.

I also should remind you that this is a forum about the game Spore, not a ufology community. So discussing alien abductions and such, wether they are real or not, is considered off topic.

And by the way, I'm pretty sure the original name for the Grox was Grob, wich is Borg backwards. They changed it shortly before the release.

This is a Grox fanclub is it not? I may be pretty much the last person to be seen posting in here (heck, just look at my sig) but surely if the topic is about the Grox of Spore then it should be the ingame Grox that should be discussed? I realise i'm getting a bit meta here discussion-wise, but if the topic isn't related to ingame Grox then it is not related to Spore at all and thus shouldn't be on the sporum in the first place.

Regardless, I always actually found the Grox somewhat cute until I learned they were genociding, evil and arrogant little brats, at which point I just felt compelled to wipe them out altogether. If this was in RP or if they had a fanfic section, it wouldn't even be challenged, and you could run theories about whatever you designed or drew on your experience for.

I kind of see the point of the people who want to force the thread to be about the in-game grox as Maxis designed them only. But the thread has actually been more about MagmaGroudon's varient on the grox, their characters and mythos.

I support having a place to imaginatively buy into that mythos of the Grox and to play with it.

I use the game in imaginative ways and imaginative play. I have whole civilizations and things I've written about them and would love to include others. I'm just not sure where is the appropriate forum section.

So as far as I'm concerned, I think the thread is ok here, and don't mind discussion of the Grox Mythos or cycle or Epic or whatever.

Maybe the thread title should change, so there wouldn't be a question that other people's mythos and cycles about he Grox are allowed and encouraged, or perhaps that this one is about the particular version that Magma has.

Which, incidentally I think is pretty innovative and deep.


@CrazyShyness :: I copied down your strategy. I'm collecting them to see which archetypes' plan I'm most comfortable with, given that it's very easy for me to create Shamans.

I would like to choose an archetype that's not too far off from that, for ease of creation, but that may not be the best way to go. I started a new creature with the intent that I could test out bards or diplomats.

I have mostly been browsing the strategy section and will probably post a collection of ideas when I'm done. I will post that in Strategy.
