In this thread: I analyze GA screenshots.

First up we have The Motherland err I mean The Mothership mission. You seem to be the scrawny gentleman firing that pink laser at...something. The quality is decent but the picture's rather confusing. Anywho since this is the first let's get some universal things clear. At the bottom left is the map. It seems just like the other ones, but with combinations of symbols from all phases. Above that is(I think) the misison name or the act name. Lower right is your captain icon, and above that is your health and energy bar. For those who didn't know, Spore GA will introduce a new combat feature. You can now(well not now, in June) modify your weapons(and possibly social parts) so that they are more powerul, but use more energy.

Much better than the old system, no? I just wish they include it in the Creature Phase. Anywho, left of your icon is something else, can't really make it out. At the bottom of the screen is your progress bar. For adventures it'll probably be the level of your general(remember there's levels 1 to 10). And just above that in the center are all your skills. Apparently you can assign certain moves to the mouse buttons. Finally

Also notice this is a test drive adventure. At the top center are 3 buttons, the highlighted arrow(Test Drive Mode), the hammer(Create adventure mode) and the planet(create planet mode). So yes, this is all in the adventure creator. Top left are your missions. There are 5 acts in this game, and amazingly you can have more than 1 mission in each act. Phew, was almost worried there. Can't really make it out, but I think the first one is "Talk to Davian Captain" or summing like that, and the second is "Destroyed 0/1 House keeper". As of the moment I have no idea what a House keeper is.

Well, that was long. Hopefully the following 54 won't be as bad.

Oh snap I forgot the main attractions. Anyway you're shooting at an enemy alien. There's a captain of the same design as you standing beside you, doing absolutely nothing useful cause he's such a ******. Missils are being shot at a giant robot(I assume it's a vehicle) and I it's probably with the Mothership. There's a battle going on in the background, but I can't tell uf thse things in the distance are creatures or trees. Certainly those purple things are ambiguous. There's also a building way back, possibly allied with the Mothership(which, I hear, you're supposed to take out). Also you can see some huge rocks in the background. Nice scenery touch. The ground itself looks pretty interesting. Lots of customization options.

Not as refreshing, but still interesting nonetheless. You have a beautiful sunset background which contrasts with the odd placement of trees and the fact that a strangely jutting mountain hill hybrid seems to be jutting out perpendicular to the ground(as in, like a 2d perpendicular line. ....). Apparently you're the green guy to the right(though you might not even be in this picture). here seems to be a fight going on in the left, as suggested by the dead bodies, or a congregation, as suggested by the people(err..creatures) looking alike. A fight's more likely(Oh yeah I just noticed the guy in the middle shooting). There are also some crates(or similar looking objects) in the background.

Still, decent look in the background. Could be a good opportunity for some truly stunning photos.

Curse you low quality! Ah well. This is the famous(or infamous...) maze adventure. Repeated use of certain buildings results in repetition, but you`re not gonna make every single piece of rock, are you? The most interesting thing in this shot is the door, or rather doors, because one is slightly ajar while the other is closed. Now, I could go on about the quality and detail of the door's design, or how reminiscent of Zelda it is, but I could also talk of the implications. The door must be a building, so that means we might be able to push buildings. Or I could be totally wrong and the door being slightly ajar is just how it was designed, but the fact that the maze continues beyond the closed door makes me thing otherwise. Could be a false sense of continuation, but....I did hear of some "door" type things, may be a feature.

Anyway, there's an interesting altar in the middle, and the whole maze design is pretty good(and realistic, notice the flames near the doors and the good looking pile of rubb to the bottom left? Yeah.). There also seems to be something beghind the open door...Last note, some kind of fire play is going on in the background. You can see some odd reddish colouration to the top left, beyond the wall of sleep I mean the walls of the mze and rocks. Might be the so called geysers.

The first thing that stood out to me was how realistic the buildings looked. Looked like some quality level design from a developer considering what it is. Granted, it was made by a developer but, my point is WE can make stuff like this, WE can put whole worlds together. Remember that story you always wanted to write but didn't know how to? Well, now you can, in a creative and beautiful manner. That's what Spore is about, beauty. Anyway, philosophical musings aside, you seem to be the purple flying captain who has just apparently swiped in midair. The targetomg arrows from the creature phase are there to make things easier. Apparently this is a gladiator adventure. You've already killed some green thing, as seen in the background, and are taking on more. Perhaps a test to see how many you can survive? Must investigate further....

There also seem to be flowers in the stadium, which takes away from the look and feel. Well, nothing's perfect, I suppose.(except me, of course)

Very simple picture, but notice the terrain design. Weeeird. Anywho, you seem to be beaming down from your ship(or something's beaming down beside you) cause there's a creature who looks like he(or she, you can never tell) might be a captain. Other than thatm not much else to say, except the terrain seems to be sloping at a weird angle. The creature seems to be on normal ground, but there's clearly a mountain going up not 5 meters away. Strange. Possibly some physics problem.

Ha! You seem to be the red captain surrounded by the crisscrossing nexus of threads, and there's someone there who's either walking with you...or has trapped you. Not much going on in terms of intelligent significance, but there are giant rock heads nearby, that's alwats something to appreciate. The Easter Island statues have been recreated on the building creator(or the Vehicle/Spaceship one, you can't really tell sometimes....) and have even been placed at different angles. Adds a tough of realism. Other than that, there's a path, which is interesting, and its leading to to a fireplace. Hmm. There are also some things beside the right most head that look somewhat like tree trunks...

Gah, for some reason those plants always annoy me. Maybe cause the pic is low quality, and the darlings would look delightful in HQ. Well, seems to be a garden of sorts(or a forest, it just has a path going through it...). The interesting thing is the real looking dirt path, and the stone tiles placed on it but also veering off, effectively creating another path. Not the best looking level design, but still useful, I guess. Oh, you're probably that pink fellow in the center with the glowing behind.

Ah, a sight for sore eyes, it's old Painfully Cries! ...Okay maybe not the best rhyme but well this green fellow, not sure if he's you or some random critter is seemingly being struck by a purple plasma bolt. Wonder what could be causing it? Stick around to find out.

...And we're back. Well, could be a tower of sorts, a weapon blast from a creature, or a vehicle. ???

Whoa. Well you are no doubt the green guy there, just standing even though 50 foot death is bearing down. Well, at first I was shocked and intrigued by the big creature's face but then I realized it was just one of those masks, probably tribal, that you get to put on critters. Still, interesting to see you can have epics of not just non-sentient(well, technically it should be sapient but I won't ramble now) creatures. Seems to be an enemy epic, and is preparing to step on the player. One hit kill in all likelyhood. Too bad. Now, if I may direct your attention to the buildings, you'll see two statues placed beside each other. Looks pretty cool actually, humanly realistic. There's also a building behind them. This shot reminds me of the mothership one, though probably because of the colour of the ground. Anywho, great pic. 4/4 stars.

Well, this is a great view of the adventure creator. Let's start, shall we?

At the bottom left is the meny button, to the right of that is the sporepedia and I think either the photo or video button, not sure. There's the naming option, of course, and the same, new, exit sans saving and save and done options , all meticulously arranged to the right. Above is a critter, called "Oppraas't". Hurm. "Drag Goal to Cast Member". I'll leave it up to the reader to decipher the meaning of that cryptic statement. There is also a "Posse" listing above that with the add button beside it. At the top is the complexity limit, which is blank cause there seems to be nothing in this adventure, thus the blank landscape. Above the naming bar is the act position, so far there's only one and the bar is at the start, hence "Intro". I hear there's a maximum of 8, the limit being raised from 5 which was the last number we heard. This is actually pretty significant. Anyway, there is a button to add acts. At the top center are the 3 buttons. The one to the right that I called "Planet Creator" is actually the Terraform mode, as a planet is automatically created when you start the process of creating an adventure, it's just that you must terraform from its bare skeleton. I thrill at the idea of what the actual names of the other 2 buttons will be. And to the left is the meny for selecting stuff. Sadly there only seems to be 10 slots for craetures :( but maybe you can add more types. There's also(in order from left to right) vehicles, building, objects, music, plants(the expansion comes with over 300 Maxis made plants, though no flora editor) and goals.

Ah, the beauty of it. This is in the terraform mode, and we have just placed a lake or ocean in that valley(or maybe it'll become a lake in the actual adventure). So, there seem to be 5 parts. Two of them have the paint brush icon, I think they control the colour and all that of your planet. Then there's foliage, which might also incluede fauna(creatures). Then weather, and finally contruct, which is your actual terraforming in a sense. Basic tools probably let you do....basic stuff, like cutting away pieces of land and what not. Then there's hill, mountains(thank god those 2 are different), islands/continents, oceans and lakes, rivers, valleys, SPECIAL(ooh), and roads. Pretty self explanatory. I think this'll give some good options, but there seems to be something that's missing....

Anyway, it looks like there'll be modifiers for your stuff, so that's a plus. Also the complexity is pretty low, as seen in the top left, but the planet seems to be shaping up nicely. Evidently most of the heavy thinking is in the creatures and stuff you place in the mode I call adventure creating. I hear you can have up to 100 creatures in any set adventure. Not bad, I suppose.

Hmm interesting. This seems to be the object section of the sporepedia. They look like buildings, and who knows maybe we can import our own buildings into the object folder in the Spore directory(though from what I know of the layout, that might not be possible, *shakes fist at MAxis* ) There are about 455 objects AS OF THIS SHOT. More might make it into the final version(or less...). They range from the most generic chest possible, to an Excalibur type thing, to a rather stupid looking tablet, to a pot and urn which look suspicously similar....anyway, there's also trees and what I assume to be "Ancient Sporehenge". More on that later.

This is another one in the adventure creator creating advventure part. Oddly this has a complexity of zero(top right) but that may be for a number of reasons(most probably, it's just not there for this shot, or most of the bulk is the creatures, since they require animating. This seems like a sort of rudimentary city beside a forest.....there's cars and buildings and whatnot. You know how I said there's a plants menu before Goals? Well, scratch that, cause it seems like its more "Wild" things, like wild animals and all that.

There's also a checklist at the top, wonder what that's about.

The Captain editor, really an enhancement of the space outfit editor, except with non-aesthetic options. You see a six legged creature, the captain, in creation mode, awaiting appraisal. He seems to have some sort of claw like things on his wrists(someone seems to have seen the leaked copy of X-men Origins: Wolverine...) and also myriad other stuff, including a laser shooter. To the left are all the options. A total of 32 new accesories. Apparently there's 8 new social abilities, 8 new attack ones and I think 24 new normal abilities? Not sure. Well, looks like a colorful bunch. Also to the right are some new circles, not sure what they're about. Might be the total social, military and all that. But what's up with the second speed circle?

Neat little picture. This purple fellow, might be you, seems to have been confronted by those two cutlerry guards, having just passed through a gate(again interesting). There seems to be other creatures behind him, in a futuristic city. Hmm not that much info here, but still cool looking nonetheless, and makes you wonder what's happening in the story. I remember this one guy, in Alexandria...

Another maze, this time of green shrubbery. There's also a statue way off, which might be the beginning or end(or the beginning of the end...). Good to see some flowers there too. So it's NOT a punishment maze like the labyrinth.

Ah, another great looking picture. This seems to be the outskirts of a mighty empire, whose walls are fortified by tall towers that look like fruit sticks and whose buildings are all the same colour and pattern. Still, a nice looking vista, few creatures, one statue that is apparently headless. ? I'm not sure either.

Well, this is interesting. Set in a remote jungle type location, with eerie wooden buildings here and there and a strange shamanic craeture shooting magic purple beams at an intruder(or being shot at, cause both of them seem to be aiming at each other). Still, the shark lobster seems to have some sort of cannon firing thing going. Not many informative details, but has a nice story touch.

Beautiful. It's amazing how different these shots are from one another in terms of the background. This seems to be a white planet, little atmosphere, with white buildings and white creatures, excet the green lizard fellow who seems to be the captain in this shot. Definitely moody, but again not many insights.

Although it seems to be snowing.

Meh, another creature. Not much to say, except there seems to be a deficiency of circles to the right. Weird. There are also blank red squares where attack icons should be, no doubt as placeholders.

This seems to be in the Zeldaish maze. The creature captain is shooting at a Zeldaish epic. Looks like we won't be totally helpless againts them(or the guy's just really, really stupid).

Ooh, very nice shot. Not many subtle details, except our blue captain seems to be preparing to jetpack it out of there, and the epic is some sort of tribal creature. There's a fortress or something similar in the background.

Eh, not much going on here either, but notice the huge shoes. Also, some circles are missing from the right, again. I think that's a new icon to the extreme right of the attack icons...or is that strike? Haven't played in a while....

Heh, great looking picture. You're probably not that guy on the stage, but you could be. Apparently he's planning to sing a song....about money! There's also citizens in the square, not very interested. The buildings, especially the one right behind the curtain, look FANTASTIC. Great visuals, good job Maxis.

A favorite of mine, let's start at the bottom left, where the captain, who could be you, is apparently shouting orders at someone, possibly some crew member. They're about to explore this ancient building complex, set against a beautiful and eerie orange backdrop, and there seems to be some sort of shiny object(s) nearby. ? No clue, but it's definitely interesting.

A cityscape, the player is apparently the multiculturally garbed captain standing on the rooftop, and....wait, this isn't a cityscape! I thought it was some futuristic setting in the Middle East, but it's another maze! NOOO! There seem to be epics or rogues, hard to tell, scatterred around here and there, with other buildings. Probably you have to get out, and try to avoid those beasts.

The llama(ugh) looks kinda lame, but sa you should notice this is the same Zeldaish maze, which ironically led to something very unlike the Triforce(it is the triforce you look for in those game isn't it? I've never played one). Well, the captain seems to be looking all mighty, having reached his prize. Little does he know that more trouble lies slithering right behind that door.....

Huh.....

Seems you're flying up to the Mothership in, surprise, the Mothersip mission. Doesn't look too bad, actually. Wonder what happens when you reach it?

You're facing that giant space emperor epic thing again.....beside those communist statues....As you can see there's actually 3, or more. This is a prequel to that previous shot, with the epic preparing to stomp on you.

Among those plants again, surrounded by...a shield? There's a skeleton nearby, to the left....

Another view of the forest, wonder what those red things are. The whole shot looks pretty detailed.

The adventure selection section of the sporepedia, each one has some icons. There's the yellow face, which is rating, then a head ad shoulder icon, not sure what that is, and a yellow curved bar...hmm...one of them's green, and one red. Might be complexity, or completion or something. Also a weird blue gray one above that, and the number of plays below. There's the name, obviously, and the creator's name. Most of them are planet shots, which makes them look underwhelming, but one really catches the eye. I heard you might be able to put screenshots as icons. Who knows.

Another mothership shot, there seem to be quite a few of those giant robot things. I just love the captain :)

Missions remain the same as last shot.

Another one, much closer to the robots, and you have your nifty shield. Awesome! Also the robot has 267 HP. And your energy is somewhat lower. So the shield is NOT free.

Another one, except this time near some buildings. Flammable barrles to your right, and some more ahead. I wonder if we can explode them.

Also this seems to take pace in act 3, and you have to destroy a Giant Reactor.

Meh, I don't feel like doing the captain shots right now, so it's only 37.

I don't know about you, but I'm excited for this game. Hopefully you're looking forward to Spore: Galactic Adventures more after reading this.

Actually in some of the later picks of the Captian editor, it appears there maybe more than the thirty two new parts they told us about. It looks like there's a one of two and a two of two, and a forward and backward arrow. I counted thirty two parts on screen. Could they have added more than thirty parts, after the last interview when they said there would be thirty two parts? That would be really cool
