We really want this to be open to anyone, but for legal reasons we're constrained to keep it to North American territory residents over 13.

You will be contacted by an official Maxis employee who will ask for your mailing address and EA/Maxis will
send out a prize release form for you (your parent if under 18 ) to sign and return and the prize will be sent
to you in about 2 months time (yeah it takes forever to get to you, but well worth the wait)

I know this first hand as I won one of the motherboards for the christmas contest for my "I saw Mommy
Kissing Santa Clause" creation.

Also as far as outside the USA, there are laws in other countries as well as here that prevent including
such entries into any US sweepstakes and not just one but many

As far as this contest goes though, that's a bunch of horse manure if they allow for postcards to be sent in
when it specifically says the 100,000,000th CREATION will be the winner!! They cannot legally do this as
that would totally be false advertisement and they'd be setting themselves up for a major lawsuit

I also agree that this contest is going to cause a major flooding of the MPN with total trash creations once
this gets down the the nitty gritty, and I definitely see some trashy creation (be it box, orb, or stick totally
uncolored) winning this unfortunately Very sad for the ones working there butts off to create something
that they themselves are proud of and make others happy to enjoy it in the process Instead of all
these enticing contests, I think the general population would be much more satified if Maxis actually paid
attention to it's customers by fixing the game issues, the server issues and the flipping rating system,
by showing they actually care that we all spend our hard earned money on their products which keeps their
business up and running, not to mention all the major costs of keeping up with all the specs required on
our pc equipment

Seriously, there are probably people who specialize in lottery legal issues, they certainly are complicated enough to warrant it. I'm surprised they are able to include Canada (most companies don't), and in order to do even that, they have to exclude Quebec (at a guess, I'd say due to language laws, and their lottery laws). Once you move over to Europe and beyond, it gets progressively harder, and every country will require you to pay their lottery fees to register to hold a lottery in that country, and so on.

So, they really aren't kidding when they say there are legal issues involved, and I don't blame them.

As for the competition, I rather doubt I'll be making anything anyway, and even if I did, most of the prize is of no use to me anyway, so it's a non-issue. Well I don't know how it is in other countries' sporums, but the dutch one isn't that active. That's why I'm here. There was one contest back before chrismas. None after that.

OH you also forgot the men and women of the armed forces who risk there very LIVES to work hard for the us and are stuck overseas and now have to deal with the fact that they can't enter a compation. My thoughts exactly. Come on Maxis can you make a contest that doesn't encourage abuse of the system? At least set up a filter system where the first eligible entry is a [b]QUALITY[/b] entrant. I personally don't care about this because I already have Spore, which I think is a stupid offer due to the fact that most people entering already have it, I already pre-ordered Galactic Adventures, so hypothetically if I did win would I get my money back? and while the graphics card upgrade would be nice I would then have to spend money to get it put in because I wouldn't have the slightest idea as to how to do it myself. Not to mention I have terrible luck so winning is probably double the odds already discussed here. Can we just go back to the normal create and run some type of voting mechanism(since polls are hackable) type contests? I myself spend a fairly substantial amount of time on each of my creations and find it extremely unlikely to possibly hit the 'publish to the internet' key at the exact time of the 100,000,000'th creation, unless I start mass producing spam just to try to get it as the time approaches.

That means that the 100,000,000th will be made in approximately 2,420,800 seconds, or 28.1 days, assuming we continue at this pace.

Since there are about 4 creations every second and about 2688769 total users, if we say that even one tenth of them are active, the odds of winning are 672,192.25 to 1, which is even greater than the odds that you will be in a plane crash, (500,000 to 1) and about the same as being dealt a royal flush in 5 cards, 649,739 to 1.
