I managed to get +5 to them.

Giving them 100,000 spore bucks gives you +1, it maxes at +10 for gifts

Doing missions maxes at +20 (i think)

Using Friendly tools +1 maxes at 10

Agreeing to help us (first contact) +5

I managed to get to... lets see. 5? i was very close to getting an ally, and after i got it out of the -s i got a call from them near the center of the galaxy, of course, i'll never know what it said because i couldn't answer the call due to they'd shoot me for getting close (i've blown past them to see the center anyway).


*edit, as for doing missions, you have to have no allies, turn off auto attack, and be quick about it (your ship is faster then theirs).

I find the best way is to colonize a planet near them, then go to the closest grox planet, they'll tell you to go abduct yourself due to your the only one near the center. Also I know it seems everyone assumes the Grox attack you even when your doing their missions.. but when I first met them they didn't attack me on site, it wasn't until I got their repution up from orange to yellow that they started attacking me... WTF is up with that?

It's a good game.. but with losing colonies because you don't show up for an attack, even though when you do show up the enemy gets destroyed before you can even get to the same sid eof the planet as them, and the Grox being just plain Absurd. When you ally them...
You can tell them to attack other nations, you can't trade them, AND everyone in the galaxy will have -200 in relationship with you. So, basically everyone else wars you with -200 relation points at first sight.

+50 from breaking galactic code
+50 from doing missions
+10 for giving gifts
+20(?) for embassy
+10(?) for super happy ray

I don't remember the numbers but if u do all 5 of these things, while not making the grox mad, you will be able to ally them.

Oh, and breaking the code thing is EASY if you believe in Spode. (maybe science too)

Spode's ultimate ability that converts the whole planet resets every time you log in the game.

So... after you cast the ability, then save and exit to the main menu, then play the game again. You would be able to cast the ability again, without waiting 30(?) minutes.

You just have to cast that ability around 5 times, and you will get +50 for galactic code. Or... you can do it the hard way and buy 5 Planet busters which is worth 20,000,000 Spore Bucks.

The Terraform killed them, so I experimented and found out ALL Grox planets are T0, cold with a slightly heavy atmosphere. Terraform it to T1 (no rod necessary) and All the colonies die. I did it last night (resorted to using a planet buster on a system that neighbored a Grox system to get the last + points). After a bit of exploring I found exceptions to the "everyone hates you" statement:

1) The three races I had active trade routes to did not declare war. In fact they were still "happy" with me.
2) I found countless races that did not hate me by exploring other arms of the galaxy (I had pretty much contacted my entire arm prior to the Grox alliance).

I played around for about an hour allied to the Grox before I went to bed. I had saved the game right before dropping the planet buster and did not save before going to bed. I'm thinking about leaving that save alone and starting another space game to mess with.

But from that save point all it takes to ally with them is dropping the bomb, going to their system next door, and asking for allience.

The reason I was messing around for about an hour was to determine just how bad the rep penalty would be. I discovered that it cost 12M (each) to end the wars with my immediate neighbors. I decided that was too much and didn't feel like conquoring an entire galactic arm so I didn't save.

I destroyed several Grox systems to see if the reputation penalty (with my newly-made enemies) would be reversed, but that didn't help.

And you have to be extremely extremely careful if you want to ally with them and go down that path. I was trying to go down the path and I accidentially managed to kill a few of their ships flying through their systems to do missions simply based on the fact that my turret was enabled.

One other question, I've heard talk here and there about conquering a "home" planet to quickly finish off an empire.. but I've gone through a couple planets with more than 3 cities on them but the empire never died.

It took my quite a while to find a path as well, the good thing is if they're Yellow faced to you, you can at least repair at their planets. 1) Turn off your auto turret so you dont shoot their ships.
2) Dont bring allies because they will shoot the Grox
3) SAVE GAME OFTEN

Got the SETI signal, approached and my buds destroyed a Grox. I had forgotten to save in a couple of hours so I just have to live with them being at war with me as I ned the rest of my progress.

Just using the heat or cold ray is the easiest way to eliminate the Grox.

I think Maxis needs to tell us more about them. Why they like T0 worlds. The hatred rating from grox for destroying ships is pretty nasty, but it DOES go away over time.. I think it's like 1 point for every 10-15 minutes of game play.. of course it's like 5 points a ship for blowing them up. But essentially you can bring them back to nuetral.. I allied with them.

Missions, Embassies, planet busting, and Money.

Plus they had an extra + that was for "We like to meet new people" I'm not sure where it was from and it didn't seem to make sense given who they were but I take what I can get.

You 'cannot' purchase stuff from them even as allies and it don't take much to piss them off again (All I did was blow up one of their planets JEEZE! ).

They are so cute. Best allies to me in the game (and their fleet help is nice).

The whole universe will declare war and you will get warmonger 5 instantly but grox missions give about a million sporebucks per completion and you can pay off other nations to stop war with you if the need arrises.

Just use an anitmatter bomb if you want to go for the boom and not terriform version of attacking the Grox. Well technically they are just badges, not achievements, the badges are: Dance with the Devil(ally) and Badge Out of Heck(kill all Grox).

Upon first playing space, I ignored the Grox, never attacked them. Never ventured near the center of the galaxy. They never attacked any of my colonies as long as I did so. I expanded my empire, established allies and trade routes, built up a solid economy. Incidentally I came into space playing as a Shaman

I then finally started moving toward the center of the galaxy. I first attempted a run for it, that failed in dead ends in the gravity well or obliteration by Grox attacks.

I then attempted pushing back the Grox. Made some colonies in Grox territory. and kept moving toward the center. Grox aggressively attacked colonies in their territory. Impossible to maintain colonies and effectively push to center with the techniques I was initially using .

Next I began exploring worm holes. Found one that put me in grox territory pretty close to the center of the galaxy. I used this technique to get to the center. I would move from star to star quickly for several jumps. Then I would go to a planet and clean out attacking Grox by moving backwards and using the mega laser to take them out. I would then drop a colony, recharge, buy a new colony and I was ready to jump again. In this way I made it to the center of the galaxy and retrieved the item. I then used the return ticket to get home.

After this I established all out war on the Grox. I used Megabombs, dived in close usually one hit would take out the colony. I would then take out following fighters move to the next planet or star and repeat, till I got destroyed. Or, sometimes if I was close, I would go back to a colony and recharge. I would establish minimal colonies as I moved into Grox territory along the way so I didn't need to travel far when I respawned. If they got wiped out, which they often did, it was no great loss.

When dug into Grox territory, near the center, colonies became more numerous and much tougher. It would take 3-5 direct hits on the main hall to take them out. I attempted using antimatter bombs, which worked wonderful, but it was to difficult to keep enough, so I adopted this technique. I would fly full speed and lose the fighters, then start a high strafing run over the colony, out of range of the colony lasers, using Megabombs. I would move in small increments over the colony dropping bombs as fast as I could, then take off before the fighters caught up. Most of the time this would succeed in taking out the colony on one run.

Doing this I carved out a Grox free pie-slice section that encompassed about two arms of the galaxy, took me many hours to accomplish, unfortunately I didn't do this on the arm that I had made my original run to the center, and I hit dead ends in the gravity well. I got bored with it after this and felt like doing something else. So I left the Grox alone and waited to see what they would do.

While I was attacking them they would hit the nearest colonies hard. If I didn't intervene they would be able to destroy a fully turreted three-city and uber-turret protected colony planet in two or three waves. So I had several key colonies that I had to religiously protect while warring. To my suprise, when I stopped attacking them, they reduced the frequency and severity of attacks on me.

My current status is this: After ceasing attacks on the Grox, I estimate I destroyed about 1/10th of their colonies. I have not observed recolonization of these planets. I have kept 5 colony planets in territory that was originally Grox. They occasionally attack these colonies, but never in full force, and are usually repelled, without my intervention. Every once in a while I visit the colonies and replace a couple of missing turrets.

You can form your own opinions about these observations. Speaking of Grox though, for those who are at war with them i got a good tip ya can use to make Grox invasions easier to handle. I buy alot of Anti-Matter Missiles and get a distance away from a fleet and shoot the ship with 2k HP and it takes the whole fleet out. When I go up against them I find a nice fast Anti Matter bomb drop on their city(s) ends the fight real fast. For colonies I just T-3 them, drop a uber turret and max the city turrets, the Grox leave soon after attacking. When you ally them...
You can tell them to attack other nations, you can't trade them, AND everyone in the galaxy will have -200 in relationship with you. So, basically everyone else wars you with -200 relation points at first sight.

Just thought I'd point out that it seems perfectly possible to get both badges (To Ally with and Defeat the Grox) in one game. However, it seems to be a very (VERY) slow method. Here's what I'm doing:

I've boosted my relationship with the Grox to blue, then began trading with them. Between the "three at a time" trading and the Cash Infusion, I'm taking about 4 planets every cycle. Now, theoretically, eventually I'll be able to whittle them down like this to their last planet.

If you wish to destroy them, your best option (in my opinion), is to get a few hundred monoliths, and gather all civilizations around the Grox, and pay them to attack Grox systems. Its slower, but it avoids a Grox attack on your systems, as they won't know that you pay people to attack their systems. The Grox have about 2400 systems; how do I know this? Some nerds ( )who defeated the Grox said its backwards of 0042, which is an achievement, number of staffs of life you get, and a reference to the movie, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy". Your other options for choosing to attack them is to attack their cities with normal weapons, anti-matter bombs galore, or terraforming. If you terraform a planet to T1, it will destroy the Grox's cities instantly.

Another good and productive way for Zealots only is to use Fanatical Frenzy constantly. This gives you the advantage of having Grox cities which have double health on all buildings and turrets. Just simply use your ability, save your game, exit, re-enter, play around for about 5 minutes, then repeat. You cannot skip five minute part because your game will trigger a bug which will boot you from the game, and you can never play that file again.

Actually, in the post above yours, there are some extra points you can add in. The trade routes can actually be started while the grox are blue, so you can use that to help you get to green rather than having to wait for green to do that. So you'll pretty much be at war with EVERYONE in the galaxy except the Grox.
It's a huge consequence but ,hey, you just allied with the ultimate evil force in the galaxy!

Once those civilizations get to space stage you can use them as a spearhead for you to use to attack the grox. That's what I did, found empires lvl 2 or 3 all nice and cozy with the grox. Made an alliance with them, plant an embassy, then have them attack the grox. Since there are about 3 empires I am working with, I can attack several grox systems at once. I have already taken about a dozen systems from the grox an promoted all empires to 5. But allying makes -200 for 'Allying the Grox' with every other empire but you can bribe them to get rid of that.

To Ally the Grox I do...

They start with -70, you need +70 to ally.

I get +50 for doing missions so I get -20, then I use four (4) planet busters near the grox (Don't use it on there planets!) This will give you another +50 for 'Breaking Galactic Code' so you now +30 rep.
Now bribe them until you get +35.
Set up a trade route. Now wait until +30 by using the trade route, you should now have +65.
Bribe them the rest of the way. (5 more rep)
Ta da! Ally them now

If you have Gracious Greeting you can do without bribing or a little bit quicker.
Other things you can use is Embassy, Super happy ray (Med and Small happy rays don't work, there immune to them.) I can't think of any others...

Oh, EDIT: Make sure to dismiss your ally ships and your auto defense turret. You will be constantly attacked in grox territory and destroying just one ship might make allying impossible.[img]http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/spore/images/3/3a/Groxallied.jpg[/img]

Here is my idea:

This part Ive already done. [size=24]***SPOILER WARNING*** [/size]

Get the unlimited ammo terraforming tools, the three kinds of plants, two herbivorous, and 1 carnivore/omnivore, level 5 energy and health, the best weapons (no antimatter weapons required), 2 health repair packs, 2 energy refuel packs, 1 colony incredi-pack, and lots and lots of money. Now, dive straight into their territory. Go as far as you can towards the core. Once you run low on health and/or energy, go to the nearest Grox planet, refuel and recharge, and then begin to terraform the planet. Keep moving to dodge attacks. Once the planet gets above T1, all Grox on the planet will die, but some ships will remain to try to kill you. Stabilize the ecosystem while trying to avoid the Grox ships. Then kill off the ships by either flying in circles and shooting them, or using a shield/antimatter weapons. Then, place your colony. Since the planet is T1, the Grox probably wont attack it. If they do, ignore the pleas for help. Use the colony to purchase any items you have used to defeat them. Then, repeat the steps until you make it to the center. Once you get the staff of life, start to clear a path through the Grox by terraforming their planets.

Step 2:

Once you run out of your 42 shots, start a new space game and use most of the path to make it to the core again. Then, improve/widen the path. If this works, you can widen the path around the center and kill of the Grox. If you kill over 100 Grox planets per game, you can kill them off in under 24 games, if that is possible. I dont know if it is.

This theory is untested. If anyone wants to try it, please tell me if it works. I dont have the time to try myself. Anyway, what Im curious about is that the Grox have set into attacking one star system and only that system. Every time I turn around bout every 15 min in the game they are attacking that same star system, sometimes different planets than the last one but sometimes the same, targeting my turrets, spice expander, and some of the other colony tools. Every now and then some buildings, but always the same star system, driving me insane. If you are in Grox territory, even in a system that used to be theirs until you defeated them, they will not attack any of your planets. Apparently, they have the same kind of ship limitations as you.
The Grox will not follow you into the Galactic Core.
If their ships are attacking you while using the planet buster, they will continue to fire as the planet explodes, though you will not take any damage.
Using the happy ray on their ships sometimes makes them explode.
If you abduct a Grox citizen, you will get a message saying:
"Too toxic for cargo hold. Incinerating..."
Wait until the Grox attack one of your planets. Kill them, and terraform it to T-3, max out all colonies with turrets, place an uber-turret, a bio-stablizer, a bio-protector, and spice storage. Giving them 100,000 spore bucks gives you +1, it maxes at +10 for gifts

Doing missions maxes at +20 (i think)

Using Friendly tools +1 maxes at 10

Agreeing to help us (first contact) +5

I managed to get to... lets see. 5? i was very close to getting an ally, and after i got it out of the -s i got a call from them near the center of the galaxy, of course, i'll never know what it said because i couldn't answer the call due to they'd shoot me for getting close (i've blown past them to see the center anyway).


*edit, as for doing missions, you have to have no allies, turn off auto attack, and be quick about it (your ship is faster then theirs).

I find the best way is to colonize a planet near them, then go to the closest grox planet, they'll tell you to go abduct yourself due to your the only one near the center. That and some retrive missions to their planets and such.[/quote]

1. You can do trade routes with the Grox and buy there systems for cheap money.

2. I am fully aware of how to keep a good relation with the grox, don't bug me on that note .

3. I have about 17 lv. 5 allies currently, and I noticed that once you get them to attack the Grox, they'll attack on their own about every 10 minutes.

4. The Grox have about 2400 systems, I have cleared about 100 so far. As you see from my signature, I am delaying my strategy to completely max out the systems of my colonies.

5. I have other files which I use specifically to attack the Grox, and never ally.

6. I never put the full extent of OPERATION GROX STRANGLE in my signature because it is very extensive, who are you to judge?

7. I just put my allies up against the challenge, I can still have them at green face if I just put my allies up to it.

8. I can have my allies attack about 50- 70 Grox systems at once (that's right, economic power rules).

9. My allies have about an 84% success rate. Any systems they constantly fail at, I'll just buy.

The only approach is to buy their stars until they are gone!

You may think- "That's also impossible, because that takes too much money! (and time)" and your right. But it isn't impossible because I own quite a few T3 Purple spice planets, with full planetary bonuses. In half an hour I can make 50 million Sporebucks. (or more) I also don't care how long it takes, cause when [i]Galactic Adventures[/i] comes out, I wont get bored and give up.

I've already bought 50 Grox stars, and have almost reached the Galactic Core. (Although I've been there multiple times before) Oh and I have "Green-smily" relation ship with them already. (Incase you didn't know already)

1.) Do missions for them.*Turn your auto-blasters off if you have them.*(You get a +50 if done enough. +5 just for agreeing to help them.)

2.)Bribe them with tons of money.(Sadly, it will only get you with +10 to them.)

3.)Do not terraform their planets... just don't if you want to be their ally. It kills them. Instantly. (Sends you to war instantly. So does blowing up their ships, stealing their treasures, abducting citizens, blah blah blah.)

4.)Break the galactic code. Blow up planets, use gravity wave, use fanatical up rise thingy, no matter how, just break the galactic code.(+50 for that if done enough.)

5.)When you get a blue face towards them trade with them. (You eventually get a +30 to you with the trade route. Sadly, no bonus for paying $10,000,000 for their systems. Possibly it keeps them happy, though.)

6.)Use an embassy. (+10 after awhile. Not too useful but hey, the more the Groxier... sorry, bad pun.)

7.)Use friendly tools. Happy beam, fireworks, etc. (+50 for using super happy ray for a few minutes on their peeps.)

8.)Build a colony near their territory. The T-score doesn't matter to me but it does to the Grox. This allows you to pop up there after they blow you up. (That doesn't send you to war. If you blow one of their ships up it does.) If things go suddenly for the worse have it at least T-score 2. That way you can have max turrets AND be able to respawn near them without having to travel from your homeworld.

That's about all you need to know. Good luck, Spore fans, and may the Draor be with you.

*Edit* I forgot to mention that allying with these guys will keep them from shooting at you on your way to the center of the galaxy. Down-side, nearly everyone hates you. Your oldest allies (people with an amazing relationship with you that are at least at or above 270) will not declare war. Anyone you don't know will. Good luck surviving the onslaught on the way home.

A much similar thing happened to me, though honestly, I don't mind so much. Now that I have finally allied the grox, I have a very powerful ally. What I do tend to worry about is my relationship with them over time.

For example, if their ships are destroyed, can I eventually loose alliance with the grox like most empires? If so, can I remake up this lost reputation with them and work them back into the green? (Right now they've luckily maintained a steady blue and I've managed to keep my alliance In spite of this). Here's how:

+10 gracious greeter: If you were friendly in the tribal stage then you'll start with -60 instead of 70.
+50 doing missions- The Grox will pay you much better than any other empires for doing missions. Don't worry about relationship points if they tell you do destroy another empire's cities; they're going to hate you afterwards.

Right now they should be -15 or -5 (+5 for 'you agreed to help us').

+50 more, Then, fly into their territory and find an unmanned planet and use your galactic-code breaking weapon on them. If you don't want to wait for it to reload, save and exit to the main menu and reload the game. Repeat until it's +50 more.

You should be +35 or +45.

Next, buy a few mega energy and health packs and fly to one of their planets and use the super happy ray for about 3-4 full charges or until it's +30.

Now you'll either be +65 or +75. If your +75, ally, and if you +65 either make a trade route and wait for that to give you relationship points or fgive them 5 100,000 spucks gifts.

It should only take you about an hour, probably less. Remember to TURN OFF YOUR AUTOTURRET and dismiss all ally ships, or THEY WILL DECLARE WAR! Once that happens, it's permanent. Bring health packs, because after a while they will start attacking your ship (unless you pay them huge sums of money to the center of the galaxy).

You have to hack Spore to save anything that uses Grox parts (which I can't even do because my game crashes if I even click on one). also a quick question about breaking the galactic code, does it only affect races that are close to its use or is it nations that are close to your border? or is it every nation in the galaxy?

Even if you screw up the allying part, you can do what I do: don't ally them with that race, but destroy them instead. Once you've reduced them to a couple of systems, start another game, ally them and then finish off the remaining systems. That way you'll get both badges plus not everyone will hate you when destroying them (that's a very big bonus).

Breaking galactic code affects only nearby races (that are at the most 10pc away from the planet you broke galactic code at).

What you have to do is BREAK GALACTIC CODE, not on their planets, planets near them....

Keep using planet busters, or if you are a scientist or zealot, your superpower...

After you've reached the max with break galactic code (+50!!!!) In the positives you forgot "We created an alliance" +25. And "Being Cheap" is a [u]positive[/u] with the Grox, not a [u]negative[/u] -- I don't remember the max that can go to, maybe +20? I think you get the +10 "Your gifts" for just five 100,000 bribes, so only half a million sporebucks total.

In the negatives you have "Scaring our Citizens" value wrong, it can go to -100 -- though it takes 5-6 attack-and-return-later runs to get that much. "Destroying our spaceships" [u]is[/u] the correct phrase, not "attack".

Then you left out a few others like: -200 "Helping our planet", -100 "Using harmful tools", -100 "Destroying our buildings", -100 "Refusing to pay tribute", -50 "War", -50 "You failed missions", -30 "You rejected missions" and -20 "You avoided contact". It will help you get to the center of the galaxy. You will find a great suprise!

First get into a space stage that has encountered the Grox. Then press ctrl, shift, c.

type in moremoney. You will then get 1,000,000 more money. Use this cheat about 10 to 15 times. (I know its alot of times but its worth it ). You will also want to type in spacecreate. It will give a whole bunch of cool space stuff to help you on the way.

Next go to lots of colonies of any empire you can trade with. buy stuff like installer drives (Try to buy installer drive 4 or 5. For they will let you get to the center easier), the portal key thing that lets you go in portals, (You might find one that takes you near the center of the galaxy), some weapon level ups too. You might also want to by level up for your health and energy.

Now try to find a portal that will get you close to the center. You will probably have to go in more than one.

If you get damaged badly by an opponent you can hit ctrl, shift, c and type in refillmotives. It will make your health and energy 100% again.

When you get to the center zoom in to the core. There will then be a hiddin episode. You then meet:

These staffs will turn any planet into 1 teriscore up

These staffs will kill all grox on that planet.

Since you cant travel as far when you get close to the centre, you use to not be able to reach all the grox planets, if you have the latest patches then it will be no problem since maxis solved it.
allying with the grox: also possible, and less hard, but not good either way. Make sure you have no ally ships and your auto turret is off. Health packs should be used as they will often attack you and you have to ignore them. Max the points with all the ways you can improve your relationship including breaking the galactic code. Hear my words, DO NOT DO ANYTHING THEY DONT LIKE! EVEN THE SLIGHTEST THING! IT WILL BLOW EVERYTHING! If you manage to ally them, it will be very good for getting to the centre of the galaxy, and fighting other races. But all other races instantly have -200 for allying with the grox. Anyone without at least 150+ points will instantly be at war with you. Giving them peace money will erase the -200 and you will have a fresh relationship. All new races you meet will also have -200.

Please note I haven't done this, I just looked it up on the spore wiki. But it proves it is definitely possible. Allied but I did not save becouse every empire in the Galaxy declared war on me .
You only have to destroy 5 planets,do missions,be a shaman ,give them 50000 sporebucks,do trading routes,buy their systems at 50000000 sporebucks,put embassies on their planets....but it's not a great thing to do...

Here are a few things to note:

[u][b]1) Getting to the Center of the Galaxy[/b][/u]
You can get to the center with the level 5 Interstellar Drive. Then, you buy either a bunch of health and energy packs, or bring like 5-10 colony packs before you head off. To get to the center, you just keep clicking on the stars in the direction of the center (Grox or not doesn't matter) and zoom out (while paused) occasionally to keep aiming for a path to the center with a high density of stars (because your move distance will shrink the closer you get so you need a dense route to make it). When you are running out of health and/or energy, either use your health/energy packs or locate an empty planet, dump a colony, and heal up. GROX WILL NOT ATTACK YOU ON SYSTEMS YOU OWN (provided there aren't any ships currently on it. IF there are, just zoom out to galaxy view, and zoom in again, they'll all leave). Repeat this until you reach the center. VERY VERY VERY simple and easy to do...

P.S the first 15+ pages on this thread failed to mention that once you reach the center, your move radius will return to max distance (unaffected by proximity to core) so it'll be much easier to return to the core later.

[u][b]2) Allying the Grox[/b][/u]
Choose to do any combination of the following to get +140 points from below (with max points in brackets) to negate the -70 from 'We distrust strangers' on the Grox and have a Green Smile from them for allying:
- Break Galactic Code* (+50)
- Do missions (+50)
- Set up a Trade Route and reach buying point (+30)
- Super Happy Ray"" (+30)
- Gifts of 5x 100,000 (+10)
- Agree to help them during first encounter (+5)
- Embassy (+10?) <-- Not Recommended as they usually destroy it shortly after being planted

* I'm playing as a scientist so I have the ability to wipe out all structures (aka Sentient Species) from a planet, which breaks the galactic code. The Zealot special and Planet busters also break the galactic code. You will need to do any of those 3 things 5 times (any combination in total) for the +50. They must be performed within 10pc of a Grox planet. MY advice is to do it by uplifting species within Grox space, then break the code on that planet. This makes the Grox like you without angering other species. You might like to note, the Scientist special can be done on any species tribal and above, the planet busters can be used on empty planets, and I think the zealot special must be used on space level species.

"" If I remember correctly, the Super Happy Ray will only go up to +10 or +15 before they are Blue Smiley Face (+30 total relationship) and will only go up to +30 afterward. Each full energy bar (with all energy storage upgrades) will only get you about 4-5 points with the Grox.

[b]IMPORTANT:[/b] As most people on this forum fail to mention, not EVERYONE will war with you once you ally with Grox. As long as you have a generous relationship with an empire (+200 or more relationship), they won't declare war after you ally with the Grox. If you have more than +270 points with an empire, they'll even remain as your ally right after allying with the Grox. Here are a few tips on getting good relationships with other empires:
- Do missions (+100)
- Plant an embassy on 1 of their planets (+50)
- Give them 100,000 spucks (+50)
- Super Happy Ray (+50)
- Help their planet`` (+45)
- Have a completed trade route with them at any point ever (+30) <-- doesn't have to remain active at time of allying with Grox

`` This is one most people don't know about. If you help an empire (except Grox) raise the T-score of a planet of theirs by 1 level, (doesn't even have to be permanent/stabilized), you'll get this relationship bonus.

[b][u]3) Kill the Grox[/b][/u]
Here's something I learnt from this forum. A painless way (albeit a bit slower) way to kill the Grox is by buying out their planets while having your allies attack the Grox instead of you. This way, the Grox won't be mad with you and won't be at war with you. You can have 5 trade routes active at a time, so you can only buy their planets 5 at a time. If you are an Economist, then your special ability allows you to make a planet instantly buyable after starting the trade route, making this method WAY faster. Here's what I did/am doing right now:
a) Have at least 10,000,000 spucks (with a few planets with purple spice production, or just a good economy), 3+ Monoliths, enough in cargo hold to get a planet to T1, have 3+ different herbivores in cargo hold, and lots of colony packs.
b) Colonize a planet right next to the galactic core (optional, you can start at the edge if you want)
c) Get a few planets around the core to T1 (DO NOT COLONIZE THEM) and seed each with ONE different herbivore and use a monolith on each planet.
d) Once they are all space age, ally them and order them to start attacking Grox planets (ONLY ONES WITH 1 colonized planet, they will fail to capture ones with more than 1).
e) Start trades with the Grox systems with more than 1 colonized planet to buy them out. To start trade, you need at least a Blue Smiley Face (+30 total relationship) with the Grox (look above in Section 2 of this guide to find out how). ONLY buy out systems with more than 1 colonized planets (or purple/pink spice systems if you're desperate for money) or you're wasting time. Buy the planet from the Grox at 3,000,000 spucks (will be enough 98%+ of the time) to save you cash.
f) Just keep doing this and spread outwards to slowly eat up the Grox empire.
g) When the Grox have 1 system left, just follow Section 2 of this guide to beef up your relationship with the allies you are using to kill the Grox and any other big empire out there and also prep the Grox for allying.
h) When you're ready, ally with the Grox to get the first badge (your beefed-up allies will remain your allies if done right).
i) Cancel the alliance with the Grox (optional), grab your allied spaceships (also optional) and go in to kill the last Grox planet personally for the second hidden badge.

[b][size=24]Congratulations! You now have BOTH hidden badges in ONE game![/size][/b]

[u][b]Tips:[/b][/u]
1) Cancel your alliances that are far from the core so the ecodisaster events don't happen so often far from the core so you don't have to travel so far when they do come
2) Get to know a few handy wormholes to quickly get back to your Home planet area if the need arises (for random events)
3) The Grox WILL attack you if you go near/on one of their systems (only if your relationship with them is a yellow face and above, and if you're at war with them). They will NOT however, attack you when you're at a system with space stage sentient life (whether it's an allied, neural, enemy, or your own systems). Go to those to lose any Grox chasing you.
4) It helps to click on as few Grox systems as you can so the number of systems inhabited in them are NOT revealed. This is beneficial because if you see lots of systems with more than 1 inhabited planet, you'll have to buy out a LOT of planets, making progress very slow. Click on them one at a time (fly to them one at a time) so you can attack a solo-colony before revealing a closer system that your allies can't capture.
5) Seed planets with a creature and promote it with a monolith to get more allies/more systems you can attack (sacrificial species) for better tactical locations to attack the Grox from.
6) Have 6-10 purple spice planets around the core for a good economy for buying planets. Only sell purple spice at 60,000+ spucks each and only sell pink spice at 47,000+ spucks each. Also, make ALL purple (and as many pink as you like) planets T3 with ALL colonies 5-happiness, 108spice/hour (you'll need 3 factories, 3 entertainment, 5 houses per colony) and drop a spice storage thing on them.
7) DO NOT terraform ANY Grox planets to T1 or above. Doing so will kill the Grox on that planet and they'll say you've destroyed a colony of theirs, most likely leading to a war with the Grox. Of course, do this if you are actually wanting to kill the Grox the easy way.
