According to me, God may have guided our evolution ;p, but he must exist, how would you explain Jesus, was he a guy just like us from the future to perform miracles with super technology, or God?

Im a Roman Catholic and I know for a fact the the bible doesnt deny evolution, infact you could argue that it even supports it. The church believes that God created all (which we still technically believe but in a differnet perspective.) the fact is you can't just spawn a living being, fully evolved out of nowhere, aka matter cannot be created nor destroyed.

I believe in God, I believe in Jesus SPORE and His death, burial, resurrection and finally ascension into Heaven. I believe He died for ALL our sins and I believe that in order to get to Heaven I must simply trust in HIM. I am a Christian and I don't believe that the game Spore is an "attack" on Christianity.

I, as a Christian, find nothing offensive with this game and honestly if you are a Christian and you do you need to lighten up, it's a game. To disregard the theory of evolution completely is unwise and to disregard the fact that we still can't explain many intricacies of evolution is just as problematic. Honestly there will be extremists on both sides that are offended Atheists and Christian alike but overall the number offended on both sides will be minuscule in comparison to those who weren't.

And since people seem curious...
For me personally the issues of the origin of life are a minor part of why I'm a Christian. For me it's mainly due to the things I've seen happen throughout my life that just make me go "there must be someone out there who cares" and in my case so many that I can't just accept it as chance. Now THAT is asinine. Some of you may be too young to recall Maxis early attempts at this same theme, called SimLife and SimEarth that came out in the late 80's early 90's. Of course the game is rooted in modelling what we know scientifically and blending it with a fictional universe and a fun creative gameplay. For a very long time Maxis made the most educational games that had ever been attempted, don't shortchange them now because they are being market controlled by EA.

Just because you belive God created everything, who is to say that the PROCESS through which he worked was not what we observe as natural processes like natural selection and evolution?

The Bible doesn't actually say HOW God does things, just that he did them. You pray for something to happen, and then a dozen small coincidences take place that allow that thing to happen, and then you say "my prayers were answered" - but you probably don't assume that because each of those 12 things that needed to happen first could have happened naturally that God didn't answer your prayer...you say "God works in mysterious ways".

Just as God works through "natural" processes in all the things you witness in life, it seems reasonable to conclude it's at least POSSIBLE that he worked in similarly natural processes in his creation of the rest of the universe as well?

Evolution is a Theory. And a theory is just a possible explanation of an observation. A fact is just a statement like the grass is green or the sky is blue. And what is this "evidence" you speak of that religion lacks? No transitions in the fossil records? Strange, wasn't that a key part of Darwin's Theory.... There is plenty of scientific evidence for documents like the bible. It is a historical fact (notice the usage of the word fact in this sentence and not theory) proven in many historical records that a man named Jesus was alive during those days. Also numerous events can be proven too like the flood that wipes out the world not in 1, but 3 old documents (Epic of Gilgamesh, Bible, and Pool Vuh (need help with spelling on last document). Also numerous visions in old and new testaments in the bible have been fulfilled (Prime example, Book of Daniel. Had a dream of 4 beasts that represented empires. Babylonian, Meso-Persian, Greek, and Roman. One of the beast that represented Greek was a 4-headed leopard. The most famous person from Greek was Alexander the Great who was know for how fast his armies could move (the lepord) and once he died, his 4 generals took over and ended up dividing the kingdom (4 heads). 1 more for those who don't like "fairy tales". A story in the old testament tells of a battle where the sun stopped in the sky. Evolution is very simple to see. The similar activities of children and apes. The fact that whales have tiny leg bones inside their rears or that snakes have underdeveloped legs in their persons. The bone structures of many dinosaurs and birds. Or even the video that came with spore talking about the genetic code and how evolution works. The thing that boggles me about these sort of things is that something so simple is overlooked and called hard. This is probably why people pay hand over fist for me to defrag their computer. First of all, evolution is not a "lie." Everything we know in the biological sciences (including but not limited to medicine, agriculture, pharmacology, and many other life-saving branches of knowledge) is based on an understanding of evolution. I still say this game is a good example of how an intelligent creature cannot create the living organisms we have today.

Check the 10 million or whatever it is now creations. Look at the striking features they have, like mouths for buts and spikes for eyes. That is basically what you'd be looking at around you if anything with actual thought patterns made things. Hell 99% of the things that end up in movies wouldn't be able to physically move and at least 20% of them would be crushed under their own weight.

Live seems more now than ever to be a process that requires balance and a good sized serving of chance. Everytime I see a child acting like a chimp or vice versa I sort of get lost in the controversy (as in how there is any). The video on evolution that came with the Galactic Edition was actually really good, I suggest it to anyone who wants to buy the game and feel like they got their money's worth . (Since when I bought it it was 10 dollars more than the regular game...I imagine that cost alone could be justified by the sheer weight of the case and accompanying book).

Evolution is flawed because of only 2 things.

Never in the game did I see an educational video about the evolution of mankind. Never once did I read any subtitle that states "Now it's time to evolve your creature, like the sapients of old did when humans came to be"

There is no such thing as a "half evolved creature". Anything you see in nature right now is well adapted to it's current environment and that is the reason why they are still around. If you look at it the other way EVERYTHING is half-evolved because EVERYTHING is STILL evolving. All the creatures that are extinct (barring those that resulted from catastrophic circumstances like a meteor strike) are gone because they could not evolve fast enough to adapt to outside pressures such as climate change, increased predation, more competition for food from other species etc. At any point in time the living things present are the MOST evolved things present. The reason a mudskipper is still a mudskipper is because there is no pressure on it to take to the land or return to the water.

Of course the way this Poll reads, it pre-supposes that Christians consider Evolution a "lie."

As a Christian myself I would not use the term "lie" to describe Evolution. There are typically many lies told by both sides during discussions of our Origins. But I do not think that the people explain human origin in naturalistic terms are doing so as an intentional deception.

I do not necessarily subscribe to the theory of evolution. If that is the way creation was carried out, then so be it. But my beliefs are not founded in the fact that I am or am not descended from "simpler" creature.

This game is founded on the idea that creatures DO evolve. It suggests Panspermia as well. But it does not suggest a laissez faire approach to evolution.

This game, suggests a purpose behind creation. This game suggests intention. It suggests a "higher" being calling the shots.
