While a separate section for bug reports is a good idea and has been mentioned, I'm not sure that qualifying feedback as negative or positive would be useful. Hopefully, feedback can be critical, but positive at the same time.

For example, "I think this could be improved". Is that positive or negative?

No, that would be general. So would saying, "I don't like this, but think it should be like this." But maybe positive and negative is a bit too sharp a way of putting it.

For example,

"I really loved the cell stage and think it should be expanded on." (and I really do!)

That is a positive statement with a feedback.

It could also be written as,

"I really hated how short the cell stage was and really wish there was more to it."

Same statement, written two different ways. It all depends on how the user's mood is. Did my experience put me in a good mood, or a bad mood? That will shape how I express my opinion. Usually negative experiences get repeated much more than positive and that is a good reason to put it into different sections howeever that is done.

What happened to the Multiverse reports about our creatures? I thought we'd be able to know whenever someone interacted with one of our creations, like befriended them or made them extinct. There is an events page on the my spore page but it has a very limited view of what different people are doing, like only 3 slots, with no history, and usually I just see what someone who I have favorited did with someone else's creature. I think everyone would like more tracking of just what's happening with their creations in other people's games.

1) I've noticed there seems to be a discrepancy between my most popular creature (Anubite) and the list of ALL the most popular creatures. When I look through the full list my 15th most popular creature (Space Chihuahua) is the first one I find which means the 14 more popular creatures are not being shown.

2) Loving the new search options but they sometimes give me the wrong results. If you want to look at the most popular new vehicles you need to click on the 'most popular new' first and THEN 'vehicles.' If you do it the other way round you just the 'most popular' vechicles instead and have to click 'most popular new' again. (Nothing major, just reporting it in case it was overlooked... I know you must be rushed off your feet right now!)

3) I'm sure you have this planned anyway but could we have more control over searches so you can chose to look for creation names, usernames or tags.

4) When I login it usually takes me to the public view of my profile so I have to click on my avatar to login properly and check comments.

5) Accepted comments on creatures don't seem to have a pic anymore

6) In 'Manage comments' could we have the usernames as links so you can check out their pages easily

7) Also in 'Manage comments,' it would be great if clicking on the creature pic would open a new browser tab/window so we could instantly respond.

8 ) Could we have the rating buttons in the ingame sporepedia so we can rate them without having to look up the creature again online.

9) I'd like to be able to say a little more on my profile page. The community has evolved a system of having a mailbox creature so everyone can have a little forum of sorts and report news in the creature description. It would be ideal if you could assign 1 creature as your mailbox that has its own cell on your profile. (Plus tagging it so they don't turn up in games)

10) Some (all? ) of the features in the firefox addon 'Sporescope' would be great for people who don't use firefox

11) More room in the sporecast descriptions please! 100 characters isn't enough, esp as that isn't even the whole box!

12) Comments on Sporecasts would be lovely!

On the whole though the website is great!
A few of things I wanted to mention so it isn't all negative!

- I am incredibly impressed with the way we can DL creatures via pngs! I have no idea how you did that... pat on the back for the genius that came up with that!

- I like how we can move the cells on our profile pages around now

- Loving the sharp new sporepedia pics!

- I can't thankyou enough for the extra comment space!

Does Spore automatically download content similar to what I have been making when I am logged on, like was announced a few years ago, or is that feature yet to be implemented? Or some way to subscribe to a user's content automatically downloading whatever they upload?

As far as content creation goes, I want to be able to restrict content appearing in my world to only one creature of the same name being generated. And then, if it runs out of alternatives, using as few of the same name as possible. Because when I went into the Tribal Stage 2 of the other tribes were previous versions of the creature I ended up with while another version was busy stealing my food. I liked the concept of previous evolved strains going on in their own direction, like different kinds of apes, but sometimes I want a bit more diversity of content.

This forum is not automatically saving credentials on firefox. I have to log in every time I visit. The other forum saved our credentials.

The forum's not set to allow automatic logins. It's on my list of features needed for the forum.

I think that would also make a good sticky even if I did start it. Anyhow, everything there is what I would like to see in the forum.

I also want the events to show a LOT more than they do. The online events don't list everything the in-game events do and you're limited to seeing very few events in either location. Definitely needs changed.

I would love to see the ability to share the music we make in the music editor. I'm sure your composers worked hard on that tool and would love to see what we come up with using it.

I dunno if this has been fixed already but, as of a few days ago, the bug "accessing my spore page in-game results in the internet sporepedia avatar being changed to whatever the last building, vehicle etc you accessed in an editor" was still around

First off, bravo for getting off of EA's crappy, buggy web forum layout. Jforum is much superior. And thanks for finally letting us post pictures, movies, and even letting us use HTML again!

Now I really gotta say: the sporecast is an underdeveloped idea. We need more functionality: I was thinking a "search by buddylist" option and a comment box.

Sporecasts made on the website still have some problems. Tags do not seem to properly work.

Also, I really want a feature that lets you suggest a creation for a sporecast. I was thinking that users would be limited to 1 creation suggestion per sporecast per day, to prevent abuse. The creations would have to be approved by the sporecast creator before appearing. This would allow a lot more sharing of content and really lead to a widespread use for sporecasts, and also could be a great way to find new quality content.

It would be AWESOME, if when viewing a specific creation's sporepage, there was either a Flash or Silverlight control which actually loaded the creation up so you could spin it and rotate it to see it in 3D on the website!

Could we get a "Upcoming additions" thing for spore? I think you'd be able to quiet the (even I admit) annoyingly large amount of complainers by a "planned work" kind of thing.

People hate dark space and the unknown future is what is causing the most fire here methinks.

The up/down arrows for the left hand menu in sporepedia feel like they're round the wrong way. When you want to see further down the list you have to scroll up the page and press the down button.

The New Posts indicator (orange alert) on the forums here is bugged.... it randomly loses them all then they then reappear upon the next refresh... it's frustrating doing double-refreshes just to see the new topics.

Theres definitely something wrong with the ratings and the 'Most Popular' lists.

According to the Firefox addon 'Sporescope' my cow spaceship has a user rating of 35, which would put it on pg2 of the most popular spaceships... but I can't find it in the list at all.

Of course it could be a problem with the addon, but its looking like the website is the more likely culprit.

Sorry about posting a thread, I didn't notice this till it was too late. :/ Here's the suggestions.

Well I love all these wonderful sporecasts and it's a great way to get new creatures, but I was wondering if perhaps some better sorting options would make them even better. First of all there are a lot of cool small sporecasts, but what I really needed were large ones, so I had to do a bit of digging to find a couple I liked for space creatures and regular creatures. I think there should be a # of creations sort with the options of highest # or lowest #, so one with 700+ creations would come out near the top.
Another method of sorting that would be a great addition would be a sort by what type of creations are in the sporecast. Like space creatures, vehicles or aircraft. If there is more than one type maybe there could be a mixed option. This would help when looking for specific things like buildings.
Also, sorting sporecasts by popularity or giving them the thumbs up seems to be bugged. When I sort by popularity it gives the same lists as by newest. So I think the thumbs up/down ratings need to be fixed on sporecasts.
That is all, I hope you guys like these suggestions and will consider them.

Ok, here's a suggestion I hope will be considered for the online Sporepedia.

It's a good thing having all intermediate creatures uploaded as they fill the early areas of the Creature stage so we aren't stuck with only Maxis creatures in the early areas and then finished user creatures only at the end of the stage. If you don't understand that, PM me and I'll explain further.

That said, having your Profile's Sporepedia filled with a lot of almost the same creature looks bad. There are 2 ideas that would solve this problem.

First, take and automatically group all creatures with the same name into a single "card" of the most recent creature with that name. When you click on the creature to view it, it will open up like normal, but will show all creatures of the same name in order of their DOB as well and allow clicking on each one to see it full-size. Think of it like a tree display in Windows, where you have it collapsed and then hit the + to expand and see everything in that category. This allows you to have only 1 of each creature showing in the Sporepedia, yet still let people view all stages of evolution for a given creature if they want to and still lets the game use the creatures to fill up the early stages of the Creature stage. The downside of this is that you might have 2 entirely different creatures with the same name grouped together. Of course, if you just avoid naming your creatures the same thing, that won't happen.

The second idea is very similar, but each creature would have a unique ID attached to the PNG. This ID stays the same for all edits of the creature, though it may add a counter to the ID to track the order of edits. Now, when you view them in the Sporepedia, they are still "collapsed" so that you see only the newest of each creature, but the ID lets you group them "safely" so that you even if you have 2 different creatures with the same name, it won't mess up. Another ability of this system is that you can then display basically an evolution tree of sorts for the creature showing how the creature evolved. This also gives the ability to show multiple evolutionary paths of the creature if you were to go back later and make different changes to the same creature. It would also allow easily tracking creatures that other people edit and share as it would have the same ID and whomever has the original creature with that ID would be the original creator and you'd be able to link them across accounts very easily this way and even show how the creature evolved over the course of ALL accounts that have edited or changed that creature by clicking on it on just one person's account.

The second option is by far the better option and offers a LOT more features that can be added to it. The downside is that unless creatures already have a unique ID with counter like this, all creatures that are made prior to adding that in a patch will not have this ID to use. Although you'd lose some of the features for these "older" creatures, you can combine the two suggestions such that any creatures without this unique ID will be grouped as mentioned above (but only with creatures without that ID would group together so that you could name a new creature that has the unique ID the same as the creature without that unique ID and they won't combine). This would keep the Sporepedia clean even with older creatures and would allow greater control over newer creatures. In either case, the display of the Profile Sporepedias would be greatly improved and the added features (especially the ones that the second option offers) would be very nice to have.

The nice thing is that this is really a pretty easy thing to set up or at least put into motion. You don't have to add everything all at once. If unique IDs aren't currently in the PNG files, they'd have to be put into the first patch so we can start having them available as soon as possible. Other than that, it's just putting in the various things (grouping first) into the Sporepedia. Later, things like showing how they evolves in a sort of "family tree" display can be added.

I would love to see the in-game Spore Guide on the website as well. I like to print off sections on things I'm particularly interested in. For instance I am in the space stage and would love to print off the sections on the space stage and the colony planner.

There should be a "supersporecast" feature or something that lets you make a sporecast of sporecasts. It should appear the same as a normal sporecast, except you would drag-and-drop a sporecast into it to have it automatically add every creation in that sporecast. When a sporecast in the supersporecast is updated, the supersporecast should automatically update itself.

This will be a useful tool for a player who wants to use multiple sporecasts to theme his game. For example, someone might want to use the entire Mythology Sporecast Collection, which is a collection of sporecasts, each dedicated to a different country's mythology. By creating a supersporecast containing all of those sporecasts, the player can see creatures from all of those sporecasts during a single game.

When I search for Star Wars creations, I don't want to sift through pages of Star Destroyers. Let me list "destroyer" as a "don't include this word". i.e. in Google and Ebay, such a search would look like this:

Hmmm...that reminds me of the issue of intellectual property rights, which I believe Spore has been promoting the violation of. I glanced over the Maxis creations, and found copyrighted characters, such as Tigger. I've been avoiding sharing my recreations of copyrighted characters, in order to comply with International laws. Also, who owns the copyrighted to the creatures we upload/don't upload? Does Maxis hold a copyright on everything? Do I? Is it a joint thing where I have limited rights? Somewhere on the website, there needs to be a notice about intellectual property rights-- and what is legal to upload.

Oops I didn't see this thread so I made a separate thread.
Anyway, here's my gripes:

This is a list of problems I have had for months with the Spore website/sporepedia.
I used to use Firefox 2, then I upgraded and all these problems persist.

- I am constantly logged out while browsing and doing things like choosing buddies, leaving comments, etc.

- Logging in takes several tries. I get no error, page just says done but I am still not logged in. I click several times and let it work, then after about 5 tries I am logged back in.

- My avatar constantly changes. I never know when I will log in to see a new one, and it's extremely annoying at this point. I'll even host it offsite if I must. Just please, I beg you, stop it from constantly changing. I've given up on making it unique and now just let it show whatever it wants.

- I can't change my avatar because everything is jumbled up at the bottom of the screen and makes clicking the change button impossible. This was fixed and then a few days ago went back to the way it was.

Using the Sporepedia on the website is a nightmare for me. It's slow, I get logged out, stuff doesn't load, etc.
In the game, it's smooth and totally fine and easy to leave comments.

morphosiscraft: Your problem sounds like a cookie setting issue... I use Firefox 3 and don't ever get logged out on the actual website. Check your cookie settings, and regardless of what they are set to, go into exceptions and add spore.com and set it to allow. Then clear all of your cookies and try again.

This may be a little bug in Spore Profile Page.

When you click on a creation that display in Profile page. You can comment it but can't rate it. This problem apply to all display creation in Profile page include Feature content. However if you use Sporepedia instead. you can rate it normally.

I use Firefox 2.

I am getting sick and tired of having to get pre-written garbage responses from so-called tech support. I really don't care if they take a while to get back to me. I understand there are allot of requests. But don't I at least deserve a real person to actually read what I have to say? I reported a bug, asked for help, and I get a response that pretends to be a real person, but then tries to help me with installation issues. I mean, come on! I included 3 screenshots of the bug. Do you people actually take me for a fool? There is no way anyone could have read my response (well, unless you don't employ English speakers) so why do I have to put up with an endless stream of this?

First time (posting) in the forum, so I thought I'd tell you guys what I think.

First of all, the game, is great. Not a lot of people realize the breakthroughs and paving of roadways this game has done, and for that alone, you guys deserve huge props for a job well done. I mean, the breakthroughs in procedural animation are just...mind boggling.

So, on to the suggestions. The first I thought of is a turntable for the online Sporepedia, but then I realized this would increase bandwidth, slow the site down, etc. So as an alternative, how about three images of each creature so we can get a better perspective of it? It seems like a fair compromise to me.

Secondly, improving of the Sporecast function. Not how they work in game, but how they are made through the Sporepedia. It is tedious and time consuming(although that doesn't seem to have effected people's wanting to actually make them; after all, what are we up to now, 40k Sporecasts?) to individually search for the creations you want.

Thank you for your time, and that's my 0.91 rupees.

Edit: Is it the actual spore players who are replacing curse words with the word spore on this forum? I'm going to test it out, so don't ban me. "SPORE"

The one thing I would really, really like would be a way to have the Events on your ingame MySpore Page show up on the My Spore Page on the website at [url]http://www.spore.com/view/profile[/url].

Better searching capabilities and/or an API for accessing the information would be marvelous, but one thing at a time.

EDIT: By the way, I love that a link to all of my Sporecasts was added on the My Spore Page! Kudos!

Forum feedback: Too few threads on each thread listing page, IMO

The pages listing threads are so short that there's just room for a few threads per page. Threads plummet down page after page like rocks through water, and browsing through the list requires repeatedly clicking the page links. Even then, when things are hot the scroll pushes plenty of threads off one page and onto another before they can be read.

In this day of inexpensive, widely available high-resolution monitors, it seems to me it would be better to list twice as many threads per page or more. Users of older monitors would have to scroll vertically more, but that's easy and doesn't require a page reload; it just has the browser display different parts of the already loaded page.

If not a change for everyone, perhaps an option could be added whereby each user can choose how many threads per page to display? Or select from several choices?

It is widely being considered that moderators are out of control, this is addressed to an actual employee - please address the situation for the sake of the community en large.

As they are doing it anonymously from this side of the window I can only list what is happening.

1) Valid and reasonable posts are being summarily deleted from feedback forums, where we are supposed to be critical (and I'm not referring to junk that contains content such as 'this game sucks blah blah', but real and relevant suggestions).

2) Subject matter is being summarily deleted without reason or feedback being given. How are users to know what is acceptable if no precedent exists and no rules of conduct are addressed? ie: posting ANYTHING about DRM now apparently results in a moderator threatening/ or eradicating your game account, yet no where has it been stated this is unacceptable.

3) The content of posts is being edited without notation and being altered to represent something completely unintended. I can only speculate the this is the work of rogue moderators or you have a security issue somewhere.

4) Multiple complaints about subjects being locked without ample reason given. Many of these complaints have been summarily erased from view (perhaps deleted completely). This IS an issue, again how are we to know what reason there was for locking if a thread has some two dozen responses in it - any one of them could have been the culprit and no one knows why.

This way, I don't have to load every post/every page that I've already read in that thread, just the ones that have been posted since I last logged in or refreshed the page.

This might be only me, but i have noticed there is no option to remember the password in the login page. Is that a mistake ?

I sometimes visit these forums in my office which is behind a proxy server. I have to login everytime because the forums doesnt remember the last login.

Have I missed something somewhere ?

No, you haven't missed anything. 99% of forums have the ability to remember your password. Even the Spore website has that ability (IIRC< or at least it doesn't log uou out after 10 minutes). But the Spore forum doesn't.

I agree, this should also be implemented.

I don't know if it has been said yet, and I apologize if it has, but when I see that someone has made a comment on something in my recent events, I'd like to be able to click on a direct link to that thing's Sporepedia card. I like to read my buddies' comments, and I like to see what they think is worth commenting on. I'm surprised, actually, that this option isn't self-evident.

Numerator, thank you for starting this much needed thread!

First off, I would like to say that I am very thoroughly enjoying playing the game and using the Sporepedia. I have been delighted with the max complexity glitch fix, the listing of my Sporecasts on my profile and also the auto log in when coming from the 'Pedia to the forums - Bravo!

There are, however, a few things which I feel could be improved upon - most of which has already been said.

-In game rating: it is much faster and easier to rate a creature while you are playing than to log out and find the creature from the 'Pedia. I am very grateful that we can already comment in game, but I think this would be a huge improvement.

-Events section: while it is nice to know what your friends have been up to, I would really like to know more about what is happening with my own creatures and universe. I think that most people here do not care about whether or not their friends have interacted with some unknown creature, but we would like to know if someone has interacted with our own. As I have also stated in previous posts, it would be really nice to be able to look back at past events - even if it was just from the last day.

-Sporepedia (not in game) does not list all creatures: even if you do a search for "most popular creatures," there is only a list of 800, however, these aren't even the most popular 800 creatures - some are missing. In fact, it isn't even the most popular creation of the most popular creators. This is of course being judged by the rank listed by SporeScope for Firefox, but, even so, before the game release and the site changes were implemented, this was accurate. And, the search still does not reveal all of the creations being searched for. This results, of course, in a huge loss of available content and possible ratings of our creations. What I mean is, say someone has just purchased the game and started uploading their creations - well, the search wouldn't even show their stuff, so how are we to know they even exist?

-Communicating directly to creators: it would be really nice to privately converse with other creators without having to comment a creation or come to the forums (not everyone uses them). Alternately, you could implement the next suggestion:

-Use of "Mailbox" creations: many users have implemented a mailbox system to leave general comments for each other. If we could tag our mailboxes to keep it up front on our creations page, it would make it much easier to find and communicate to each other.

-The up/down arrows for the menu on the left: they do in fact feel backwards, especially when you have to scroll up your screen to get to the scroll down button. This seems like a quick and easy fix. Also, faster scrolling would be nice.

-Sporecasts: the ratings seem to not exist since every 'cast has a yellow smiley. I'm sure it is already being looked into, but just thought it was worth mentioning. Also, it would be nice to see what 'casts other people are subscribed to, so that I could also subscribe. This is really something minor, but it would be a nice feature.

-Buddylists: it would be nice to see who is friends with who. I know this could get really complicated, but I think it would be a nice thing to see who my friends like. Especially with my friends who are ultra picky about content - I know whomever they are friends with would be worth adding to my own list.

-The Forums: I would love to be able to increase the number of topics I can view per page, just to make my viewing faster.

I have a real problem with the lack of technical support on your website. (this is specifically website feedback.) I have never once got any real response in a week from so-called tech support section of the website. I have submitted a copy of the damaged game file, instructions on how to recreate the problem, screen shots, and full details.

First I got an answer telling me how to install. (seriously. They tried to tell me how to install the game! in response to a BUG REPORT!!!)

When a user destroys an empire while that empire is still attacking one of my planets, after the empire is destroyed that are *STILL* attacking. That has nothing to do with my computer. When a game is saved after these conditions have been met, the save file becomes unreadable and the game crashes when trying to load.

My SD-RAM is brand new. It has been in my computer for less than a few months, and I often run a program to check for physical damage and so far nothing has shown up on my scans so there is nothing wrong with it.

My operating system was installed fresh on 2 SATA-150 Hard drives at 500 GB and 7200 RPM each. These are as new as the RAM, and I get nothing but lightning fast read and write times. I run a disk fragment and scan disk often, and it can go through 500 GB in less than an hour showing no problems at all.

Furthermore, I do *NOT* experience these problems with any other program on my computer.

I have proven clearly how this is a bug, shown them how to recreate it, explained everything as detailed as I can. I could wait several weeks if timing is just the issue, as long as it meant I would eventually get real help from a real person, but I am personally offended here. If anyone actually reads this feedback, understand that customer support is about as important as the product itself.

I found fax and mailing information, but even 5 years ago there used to be a way to call someone on the phone and get real help.

If so, it would explain why a bug report would be answered by instructions on how to install, since a real person would know what I am saying.

Then again, I think it would be nice if you added a simple to use Knowledge base that you would reach before getting tech help, where your questions get matched up with suggestions for help based on previous answers given to other people. As long as if that fails, we can end up reaching a real person eventually.

In short:

There are MANY things that can be done to improve our ability to get help when we need it. A section of tech support devoted to reporting bugs directly to the people who handle it, comprehensive help for those of us who want more than to report a bug. Information. Etc.

I used to think Sony Online Entertainment had the worst technical help. (they actually cursed me out in a live chat help!) but they at least had some help on a phone number. I have to say now that EA has treated me by far the worst. And it's sad, because once upon a time, I considered Electronic Arts to have the absolute BEST support of any company!

The innovation from the programmers, the kindness from the people I would call when I had a problem, there were so many reasons why EA became one of the biggest - if not the biggest - game developer in the whole world. Please return to being like that, take these words seriously.

If you look at General Discussion right now, you'll see that majority of the threads there are 'Do you...', [Poll], 'Show us your...' threads. Those kind of threads have very little discussion values, since people simply post their view or thing without regard to whether it have any merit, interest. Worse still, it clusters out truly worthwhile threads.

If people want to play forum games, vote in a poll, or just spam a useless thread, let them, but let them in somewhere that won't block off true discussions, what General Discussion is designed for.

Actually, I have noticed people are much more inclined to respond to a thread if it has a poll on it. Almost everyone still has an initial idea which starts the thread, poll or no poll, and most threads with polls seem to survive longer. So I disagree. You can't judge the merit of a thread by if it has a poll or not.

A Poll is simply an extension of the first post of a thread which appears above the first post where the average user can opt into giving an opinion, and personally, I think it's actually better to have an opinion poll than a long list of "I agree" and "I disagree."

You could create a poll right now asking if a poll should be in a different category, or not, and the choice to have a poll would only make the thread look simpler.

Alright, it's obvious that by now we have a lot of topics that really don't fit all the categories this forum provides.

Such as topics about banning, and other nonsense.

So, I propose the forum be re-modeled..So to speak.

Add an Off-Topic section, Forum Games, Graphics Corner (Not Spore graphics, as in like Photoshop signatures etc...)

Create some diversity in the forums, I see we have very cut-throat, Spore only discussion areas. But truly the people who truly love to interact with their community would most likely expect as much as I would. I doubt it's difficult at all, I should know this as I have made my fair share of forums in my lifetime, so i doubt you can fall back on the "we don't have time", or "other issues are more important", as all it takes is a few clicks a voila.

Also, a large suggestion, is to make Moderators to those specific forums, it would take the work load off of the SporeMaster, and the Maxis developers. Lets think about it, how much time do they really spend speaking to the community as opposed to everyday posters, and the occasional "smart guy". Either way, you can easily limit the powers brought upon them to that one section so there wouldn't be a security problem involved.

Seriously, being in love with graphics, I love to make wacky, crazy things in Photoshop, from signatures to desktops, and more, and I've been doing it for years and am attempting to enter it as a career, or part-time at least, I'd like to see more ability to express myself than just SPORE, all night and day, really limits my posts to certain topics.

Last bit off my trail of thought would be the whole ability to set avatars, why is it so hard to set a preset setting to "On".... Anyways i know this last one has been proposed, but get real for a minute and notice how user-friendly forums are...It isn't hard at all.

There is a glitch when searching through Sporecasts online, concerning Sporecasts which have as many as 100 creations or more. The Sporecast creator's name disappears from the Sporecast box, and on the line where it is on sub-100 item sporecasts, is the # of creations. And where the name usually appears on smaller casts, is blank. This should be fixed.

I have some website/forum feedback. This is specific to the forum.

I'd like to ask for some sort of signature rules and size limitations. Some people on this forum have some obnoxiously huge signatures. Other people have perfectly fine and acceptable signatures. There should be some sort of rule like no more than 8 lines high or 172 pixels tall. That may be helpful but not overly restrictive.

1) For about a week or more now, I can no longer remove creations from a Sporecast that I have created online. Removing the creation from the sporecast in-game works, but is a pointless change, because the web sporecast that everyone sees does not change.
2) Not only can I not delete a creation from an online Sporecast, after I had added a creation to a Sporecast, and tried to remove it from the Sporecast, by deleting it off the server entirely, by clicking the "remove creation" link both in the creation's pop up window within the Sporecast and from the "My Creations" tab, I was unable to delete that creation from being shared, at all. Its as if once a creature is added to a Sporecast, it can't be deleted at all, from a person's online creations, and this needs to be fixed as well, so if you delete something you have already added to a Sporecast, you are still able to remove it from the website entirely, and this is something I believe was possible before, so why this would change doesn't make sense, unless its due to some ongoing work being done on the site.
3) Recently I have also had trouble uploading any creation with many tags, like say, about a dozen or so. When tags are removed, the creature uploads fine, but then I have to re-add the tags once the creation is online. And the one that uploaded, that I might want to search for in the future in-game, will be tagless, unless I keep a copy of it that has the tags, that didn't and won't upload. I think there should be no tag limit that affects uploading.
4) After adding a creation to a Sporecast online that had uploaded with no tags, and trying to add tags to it, the creation refused to update with the tags. I tried adding tags to it in the main creation list, and also in the Sporecast edit box itself online, and it would not save the changes. At one point it seemed as if the creation in my personal "My Creations" list would accept the update, but that update isn't automatically applied to the same creation, that is within the Sporecast, as if once something is added to a Sporecast it becomes a separate asset than its identical non-Sporecast counterpart. After both seemed to not update, I relogged into the site, and possibly restarted my Firefox browser as well, I was then able to add tags to the creation, but I had to do it twice, once for the creation in the Sporecast and once for the creation under the "My Creations" tab. I would like to see the online Sporepedia link up a creation with its Sporecast counterpart, so I don't have to add the tags twice, which I wouldn't have to add at all if they could have successfully uploaded with the tags I gave them in the editor initially, and it seemed at least temporarily that a creation added to a Sporecast can't have its text edited, and if this was the case and not a glitch, that is not how it should be.

I have to shut down IE7, reload, relogin, rinse and repeat two or three times before I can see the forum posts.

This may have already been reported and of course it may just be my connection to Spore.com. But for the past couple of days when I open the Forums from the Community tab on Spore.com I have to log in again, even though it has only been a few seconds from the time I have opened Spore.com, logged in, clicked on the Community tab, clicked on the link for forums and the forums web site open in a new tab in Firefox. (Oh yeah, I prefer Firefox to IE so that is my browser of choice) I am presented with another log in screen.

And when I go back to the Spore.com page and click on another heading, sporepedia for example I discover that even though I was signed in on the Community page I am suddenly signed out and have to sign back in.

This is not very user friendly in my opinion. I thought that it had been set up that if you logged into Spore.com you would automatically be logged in when you linked out to the Forums web site. And that when you went back to Spore.com you would still be logged in.

If this is a browser issue please let us know, and if it is a programming issue please at least give us the option to stay logged in (Not the remember me checkbox, I don't want my passwords to be saved to any more places than they already are.) I have seen web sites that offer this option with a spinner or pull down listing various lengths of time, i.e.

5 Min
15 Min
30 Min
1 Hour
Etc.

I use IE7, and it appears I also must log in separately to the forums. This was not the case previously, and seems to have appeared after the period when all the posts came up with "java.lang.NullPointerException" errors. I don't know what the devs changed, but I would like once again to share login between the two sites. Easy access from Spore.com is one reason I prefer this forum: if I have to log in every visit this distinguishing feature is lost.

Is there any chance of a restriction on posting images? - ie. keep them under a certain size, or,make them into thumbnails, or limited the number that can be on at once?

Sometimes people post large numbers of full size images on a page, which both breaks the page formatting often (especially on 1024x768 resolution), and takes 5-15 minutes to load the page on a 128kb connection. It's much more productive to simply post links to images.

I cannot add a comments section to my profile on the website.
When I try, I get the error, "You have no comments to display".
However, I do have several comments on different creations of mine, which can be seen in the approved section of my "Manage Comments" screen, as well as on the individual pages for those creations. I can add, remove, or move any other profile sections with no problems. I have the same problem in IE7, Firefox 2 and 3, and on three different computers.

I love the website and forum look, hate the content. I actually get my blood pressure up coming here and seeing the complaints about a game I enjoy so getting advice, help, etc. here isn't working for me. In fact, I'll probably stop even reading posts here it's so full of complaints. Not my complaints, I love the game and haven't had any issues with my patched version. Just wish I could talk to more people here that are like that.

I didn't read all this stuff, but WOW is there a lot I could complain about. First being Speed. I know this thing is under INSANE stress. INSANE, but everything is so slow.

The Forum has so many annoying issues like the profile editing screen. The sig box alone makes me want to punch myself in the face for being far more difficult with no easy preview or anything.

Searching can be a joke.

And then let's not even go into just how horrible the in game browsing and functions are.

Or lets do.

It's nearly impossible to easily create a good sporecast without a ton of effort. There are virtually no options to do anything with creations you like from the main screen where everything needs to be done from. If I could see a creation on the main screen and add it to a sporecast from there, it would improve things 10 fold already.

Searching in there is a joke too. Even worse than here. It shows like 8 creations at a time and it's SLOW. So infuriating.

If the creator wasn't so ingenius I wouldn't bother playing over and over, but it's really amazing. The in game sporepedia has me just amazed at how horrible so much of the implementation is though.

That's all for now. I won't start on how crap the web based stuff is.

The sporepedia does not work well in Opera. When browsing it will often spontaneously go back to page 1 of newest creations. It is next to impossible to browse a search or someones creations without it jumping back. even browsing through newest creations will cause this.

I have used the sporepedia in firefox and it works fine, but I find it annyoign to have to switch because firefox is not my primary browser.

The first thing I do when I join a new foeum is find the option to turn off OTHER users' signatures. This forum only has the option to turn off your own sig. Some signatures on the board are obnoxiously large, and I don't think you should be able to post if the body of your post is shorter than your sig.

Give us a single sign on for the web site and the forum. And leave us signed in until we close the browser or click the log out link. This seems to keep changing back and forth. It is annoying to have to sign into the web site, and then when I jump to the forums I have to sign in again. And lately when I go back to the web site I seem to be logged out and have to sign in again.

If there is a reason for us to be logged out of one before going into the other I would like to know what it is.

I am using opera to view the sporepdia, an my profile page is messed up.
It used the work fine, but now everything is on the left colum and there is a huge gap between some of the sections. and the gap has graphical glitches. The leftmost border is squichesed into this gap, so the section of it that is repeated vertically is repated horizontally, the bottom border is right beneath that, and the bottomsmost sections are overlapping the picture border, copyright info, etc. at the bottom. It is really annoying.

Website My Spore Page Glitch:
For the past 2 weeks or so everyone's profile/My Spore page on the website has been displaying incorrectly. When you try to view a person's creation's on their profile by clicking the page #'s or just using the left and right arrows, the page numbers and arrows are no longer aligned right. You can really only see the scroll forward (right side) arrow, but the scroll back (left side) arrow and page # links are obscured by the small pictures of the creations. The links seem to be showing up too low, behind the pictures of the creations. This page misalignment possibly occurred around the time a link to people's Sporecasts was added to everyone's profile page, or maybe when more personal events started being listed. This misalignment needs to be fixed since it makes it annoying and harder just to scroll through someone's creations on their profile page. I use Firefox btw.

I have been using the website Sporepedia to make my Sporecasts because the in-game one is a mess. However, I cannot seem to delete any creations from my Sporecasts. I have tried two different browsers but nothing seems to work. I press the little trash can icon for the specific creation I want to delete and nothing ever happens. The other 4 events below it change properly but that one seems to be stuck - probably because it's timestamp is forward dated to some arbitrary date in the future so it's always most recent event.

These sections have almost no good info in them and actually search through info about games other than Spore.
Instead, replace them with summaries of the [url=http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/4723.page][b]Master Help Thread / FAQ[/b][/url] and [url=http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/7005.page][b]Gameplay Guides[/b][/url] threads found on the forum. Make them searchable, keep them updated and don't include stuff about other games.

[b]3)[/b] The [b]Hot Topics[/b] section of the [url=http://help.spore.com/cgi-bin/easpore.cfg/php/enduser/home.php?p_sid=17PFWKgj][b]Support Home Page[/b][/url] should be broken into subsections. Account, Website, Gameplay, Technical, etc.
Each subsection should be kept updated by someone who knows about that topic. Account section by customer service, Gameplay section by [b]ShardsOfBlue[/b], Technical by [b]Numerator[/b], etc. Again, use the info on the forum whenever possible. (These are just examples of course. I don't mean to give these guys more work than they already have.)

[b]Numerator[/b] and [b]ShardsOfBlue[/b] have done some outstanding work putting together the [url=http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/4723.page][b]Master Help Thread / FAQ[/b][/url] and [url=http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/7005.page][b]Gameplay Guides[/b][/url] threads. The [url=http://help.spore.com/cgi-bin/easpore.cfg/php/enduser/home.php?p_sid=17PFWKgj][b]Support Home Page[/b][/url] could be made so much better just by listing (or linking to) the best solutions found in these two threads. This way people who are unfamiliar with, or uninterested in, forums can have access to the great info found here, and hopefully that would relieve some of the strain on the Help staff.

I agree entirely with Physicsable's list. I would also like to add that there needs to be a creature stage search possibility. It would make creating Sporecasts of those types a lot easier. I would like a better rating system for Sporecasts. They seem to be really strange in that one with nothing in it can appear at the beginning of the sort by ratings listing. It would also be really nice to be able to sort within our Sporecasts. I would like to be able to look at one of my made Sporecasts and be able to sort the same way we can with the general creations: All Creatures, All Vehicles, etc... This is most useful though when we are able to DELETE things from Sporecasts.

Finally, I guess this is overlap with Game Feedback, I have a Sporecast with 1,000 creations in it according to the website but my game is only showing 825 of them. I don't know which ones are not included but this is really annoying me because I put a lot of time into the Sporecast so I could use it in game.

Browsing Sporepedia website on the mac is incredibly unstable. Firefox will crash while browsing Sporepedia seven times out of ten. Safari crashes once every seven or so views.

I have Firefox 3 latest version and Safari latest version as well as the latest flashplayer :/

Hmmm... I don't have stability problems on my Mac with either browser. It is amazingly slow though.

I would like to add that my Events list on my profile has been showing the same space event at the top of the list for about 2 weeks. It would also be nice if this list was longer or we could look up past events, preferably sorted in various ways (buddy adding, posse adding, achievements *wink*). Thanks.

EDIT: With the "update" to the website today (I just noticed at 5:45pm CST) I now have dates associated with events in my event log... here is the one "permanent" one and perhaps the reason why...

Currently it follows:

Can I suggest it's changed to:
[b][u]User [/u] and [u]Creation[/u] are now at war in the [u]Current[/u] Stage[/b]

This is because the same message is used regardless whether it is the [i]player[/i], or the [i]creation [/i]who initiates the war. The current wording seems loaded and implies to onlookers and the creator that the player has chosen to attack their creation, when in fact the same message is displayed [i]if the creation declares war upon the player[/i].

It just comes over as a bit loaded the term and I have known some creators to be upset that the player is apparently slaughtering their race when in fact nothing of the sort has happened, their race simply declared war on the player. (If you are allied to the grox, simply flying through open space will create a slug trail of "Player has declared war on every man and his dog" messages.

It seems very hard to navigate the Spore site. If I go to www.spore.com, then it instantly redirects me to www.ea.co.nz, which is obviously less Spore-centric. Then if I click on Spore from there and click on Official Website, it links me right back to www.ea.co.nz again.

I have yet to find ANY official Spore site that actually links to the "real" Spore website (with the Sporepedia and the tutorial videos), although at least once I get to one of the pages in there (usually via Google) I can navigate to the rest.

But even in there I haven't found any link to these forums. Again, if it wasn't for Google I wouldn't have found them at all.

Here's a few things I can think of (or agree with that've already been posted).

Online Sporepedia:
- Fix the search and add an advanced search.
- Fix ability to delete creation from Sporecast.
- Add ability to hide text information on Sporecast to be able to view more than three columns.
- Add customized viewing options (number of columns, rows or creations per page).
- Test back/forward behaviors more thoroughly (sometimes multiple overlays will appear).
- Animated avatars. We can create them in test-drive, but they don't get used anywhere.
- 3D viewer similar to cards in-game. I want to see a creatures abilities and how they animate.
(sure this has been thought of and probably a nightmare, but if the PNG holds everything,
bandwidth shouldn't be the issue).
- RSS feed for events.

In-game Sporepedia:
- Planets need to have more information (known flora/fauna, spice, sentient, location).
- Can't remember but I think the plants need more info too.
- More of same from online problems.

Sporepedia wishlist (both web and game):
- Evolution tree that groups a character together and shows it's evolution.
- Stop uploading everything.
- Why do I have a dozen copies of every building and ship?
- Why do I have one shared copy and one unshared of everything?
- Ability to choose which events I want to see (perhaps only relating to my creations).
- Comments on a creation are NOT an event. They pollute the very limited space
we have for events. Pull them out to their own section, or allow us to not see them (see previous).
- More stats on a character would be nice (times epicized, eradicated, allied, etc..)
- Ability to make a sporecast from all of a users creations or subset (in case I want to see their creations, but
don't want to add them as a buddy--which I'm not doing anymore because I didn't want to see events about all their comments...see above)

Forum:
- I agree with others here, I'm sick of reading because so many people just come here to bash the game and each other, but that's a forum for ya. Maybe give them their own category: Whiners and Malcontents. :o)
- I like the idea of a separate sub-category for each stage.
- Limit image sizes or make automatic thumbnails with links to the original (people post screenshots that break the layout and force me to scroll left right to see complete sentences).
- Avatars (either choose from my creations or upload my own).

Oh, I'm sure there'll be more, but that's just all the stuff off the top of my head.
I'll try to write things down as I think of them.
Hope to see improvements, but won't bash you either if I don't

Then the Whiners and malcontents would complain because they only have one category. Unfortunately, most internet forums are all alike. It's more or less freedom of speech without consequence. In the real world, you could tell someone to shut up and go away, and if they don't, you can then mame them with a golf club or something.

Oh, as for my suggestions: I forgot to put, in fixing the search, I also meant the sorting.
Sort by oldest doesn't work (for me). For example, I wanted to add Yoshi and Bowser to
my Sporecast, but found thousands of duplicates that people had modified with different
paint jobs mostly. I wanted to look for the oldest to have the original creator's version.
Sorting by oldest seemed to do nothing. Maybe add an option for original creations
or keep track when somebody modifies something and link to the original somewhere.
It'd help give people credit for their creations too.

Right now there seems to be 3 factors that control how a creation moves in the list: Voting it up, Voting it down, and Degredation over time.

If someone likes something they can vote it up and it rises in popularity and standing. Over time popular creations will slowly drop back down out of the limelight to make way for new creations unless people continue to prop it up with additional votes; this part of the equation works great.

The problem is the [b]vote down[/b] option. The entire option from the outset is quite biased; one persons "trash" is another person's treasure, if the majority like something then the majority will vote for it. But the problem emerges at the top end of the ratings, where people will actually[i] rate down[/i] creations that are perfectly good quality, but are more popular than their own - simply to try claw their way up the ratings list, afterall, if you can reduce their vote count by 1 you'll have effectively given yourself 1 more vote.

I've been studying the creation list the last week and especially in the first couple of hours after rollover it's a frenzy of aggressive voting; I saw several perfectly good creations drop from the top 20 to 150-200th place in the ratings, there's no way it could've been a lack of quality; one of the said trashed creations ended up stuck behind and [b]untextured hamburger[/b] ( ) with an orange smiley... the hamburger was unrated and thus still yellow.

Overall, I think the "downvoting" is probably knocking quite a few good creations off the board which are being downvoted merely out of spite (Me and fotosynthesis might've had our run in's but I was shocked to see a perfectly good space station of his drop from 5th to 90th in the space of 10 minutes). If someone likes something they should be allowed to vote for it, but by removing the vote DOWN button it prevents people using it as a weapon.

seriously though, not a bad idea, but what about removing the rankings entirely, and automatically ranking the creature based on how many times it is used in a game, not downloaded, but used. So like if someone allies with it, or dances with it, sings, forms a tribe, populates a planet with it, thats a point, if someone Supersizes it, thats a point, uplifts it, converts it, kills it with a laser, thats a point... Stuff like that. And like you said, there would be no down ranking. People could ban it, but there would be no point hit because of it. If people don't like the creature and just don't want it in the game, it doesn't mean it's a bad creature. On the upside, if someone likes a creature they tend to do more with it in the game, so that should be a plus. In addition to that, it rewards the artist as if someone has lots of good creatures, people will put them on their buddylist, and those creatures would be more likely to be interacted with in the game. Lame or otherwise creatures of little thought, are generally banned or removed in some way from peoples games right away, so they wouldn't get the interaction points that the good ones would.

[b]This is an excellent idea and I am all thumbs up for it. I just had someone post in my thread that is having problems with a posse of people purposely going around and rating their stuff down and other peoples stuff down.
Because of jealousy and other emotional reasons why people would rate down someones creature makes it very unfair for all the people who deserve to make featured.[/b]

Just wanted to add my 'here, here' to Ryuujin's idea. Down-rating just gives petty people the opportunity to be, well... petty! It's definitely a case of if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. If there's a serious problem with an item then that is what the report/banning (should be) for.

This is supposed to be a game, it's supposed to be fun and obvious sources of unpleasantness within the online community *need* to be removed. If someone was upsetting people on the forum or leaving offensive comments on creations, they would (I hope) be banned from the system as a punishment. By the same extension the rate down feature clearly does annoy some people for putting a big negative in their experience, so please can you banish it from the Spore system!

I agree, the only things that need to be downvoted are sporn creations, and we have the report/ban for that. Sure, some people might miss being able to downvote stolen creations, but... well it'll still be better this way.

The only way I can find out about what my friends' Spore names are is by either talking to them going online. When I'm online, I'm usually copy and pasting the names into the game, but that's really annoying and time consuming, since I play the game in full screen. * There are lots of sort options at the top when viewing creations. However one important one was missed: pre-tribal creature-stage creatures. Additionally i think it would be useful to be able to sort for "starter" creatures, the sort made with 145DNA points or less that appear immediately around you at the beginning of creature stage.

* All my sporecasts, and a lot of other peoples (on web and in game) report "0 subscribers" despite having one on the second page when sorted by popularity.

* Managing large sporecasts is generally much easier on the web. The main thing that could be improved is allowing the contents of a sporecast to be sorted and filtered. When you have hundreds of items, its hard to find things by scrolling a few pages at a time.

* And of course, i'd love to see more stats information on what my creatures are doing in other people's games. The events window is interesting, but unless you are constantly watching it and recording the results, there's no way to get a sense of context. Two interesting bits of data that isn't currently displayed is the number of downloads for each creature, and the number of times it appears in a sporecast. Even if it's not practical to display this for every creature, it would be nice to have a summary of this sort of info that shows your top 10 in these sorts of categories.

* The detail view of creation cards now shows "Type". The idea is an improvement, but the way it is implemented makes it almost useless. It needs to be more detailed include all the "types" in that are in the filter dropdown. I.E. "Tribal Creature", "Entertainment Building", and "Religious Air Vehicle", not just the already obvious "Creature", "Building", "Vehicle". It is quite common for me to wonder weather a creation is an Air vehicle or a UFO, for instance.

Thanks for allowing my log-on to the main web site to follow to the forum. It was really annoying to have to log on to the web site, jump to the forum and then have to log on again. It just never made any sense.

I would still like to see an option for sorting Creatures by Creature Creature . I really like that ingame you can do this. It would be even more amazing if you could sort that category further by herbivore, carnivore, or omnivore (sort of like the military land, sea, and air categories). Making sporecasts would be SOOO much easier if we could sort like this... BTW thanks for fixing the delete button on sporecasts!

I posted this earlier in a different sub-forum, but just now realized that this sub-forum is the right one to post this in.
Even though I can see my uploaded creatures in the "My Creations" portion of Sporepedia, I still can't see them when I select "All Creatures" or when I search on the creatures' names. I uploaded them almost 24 hours ago. I did not find a FAQ addressing this issue or anything on the Sporum... does anyone have any ideas?
Someone told me to add tags and then try searching on the tags (which honestly seemed like it would make the creature even harder to find). I did do that and it still doesn't show up. I have seven creatures that don't appear, btw.

I think the Sporepedia rating system could be significantly improved and made much more transparent by simply having the actual number of Up and Down votes displayed in addition to, or instead of, a colored smiley face. As it is, it's impossible to tell how many votes a creation has received, which would be pretty useful info in my opinion.

I am pretty sure that there is a character limit. I have tried to make a sig with several (5) small images, each with their own link. It wouldn't let me, it didn't tell me why but whenever I updated it just took out a lot of the URLs. I assume this was to keep it under a character limit.

I AGREE, with the original statement. I don't know how since the images are usually linked from another site. Maybe there should be a "Report Sig" option, not only for vulgar signatures but for ones that are too big.

Here's something I'd like to see improved on the web sporepedia-- It would help enormously when adding things sporecasts if the following enhancements were made:

I remember hearing early in development about your creations stats in other Spore universes. I think that would be a great addition to the Stats page just added, a "Your Stats" section where you can see how many times your species was eradicated, was befriended, blown up, etc. In this section you could also have info from the website, like how many thumbs up or thumbs down your creations got, and which ones, which ones were added to sporecasts, how many people have you as their buddy, how many people and even what people are subscribed to your sporecast(s), etc.

A graph showing number of uploads by time of day might be interesting. I'm curious about how ridiculous the spike would be around 4:30 Pacific time.

Which brings me to my next suggestion. The Most Popular New list would be significantly more fair to everyone if it did not wipe at a predictable time, but rather each creation would get on the list when uploaded and be removed from the list 24 hours after initial sharing. Instead of a daily list, it would become a continuously evolving list, and it would end up featuring a [i]much[/i] greater variety of work in the top 4 over the course of the day. Currently, it's rare for anything to even make it onto the first full page if it wasn't uploaded within the first hour after the wipe.

This is more of a polite request from a guy who mods and admins other forums, re: keeping your forums clean and organized:

When your moderators move topics, I assume there is an option to not leave a shadow topic. Please use this, and turn off the shadow topic when you move the topic to another forum. Otherwise, your shadow topic is continually bumped in the old forum, and your objective of moving the topic was never accomplished in the first place. You can see this in the General Discussion forum where a moved thread is "stuck" in the Sticky section, even though it was moved and the actual content isn't there anymore.

I think this may have already been suggested, but the Sporepedia searching isn't working helpfully. If I type in a keyword to search for I can't then select a sub-type from the drop down - well, I can, but it simply doesn't do anything. If I want to find new silver buildings to go in one of my sporecasts, I can search for 'silver' as a search query, but selecting buildings from the drop down still shows me all types.

Can we *please* have ALL unusable content weeded out of the Sporepedia, there are still a lot of cells in the system which are currently useless, and as far as I can tell, it is still possible to upload over-complex buildings and vehicles - again since they are useless, it is an all round waste.

I don't know if this has been addressed, but some of the website backgrounds for name tags are too short for longer usernames, if you've got no buddies listed, a longish username will break the background image bar behind it which seems a little silly, since that should surely be designed to allow for the maximum length allowed by EA's system.

On the subject of the website, there is a lot of redundant/useless code in the Sporepedia web pages. There is around 1Mb of data/images before a single Spore png has been loaded (the page code is over 300kb!!!) and that is really excessive. Since EA is very wealthy they can afford lots of high speed servers to cope with this, but it isn't entirely fair on those with slower connections, those paying per transfer or with limited bandwidth ISP accounts. There doesn't seem to be any intrinsic reason why the pages *need* to be all that weighty and it's certainly not obvious at first glance looking at the site design/function. As far as I can tell, all the style and javascript formatting of the website is included in every single page, not in a common external script file, so all that extra data is being downloaded each time someone clicks through the Sporepedia.

I don't know if this is browser oddness or a general problem, but I seem to find that the adverts are loading ahead of the page content for some reason. I use 2 of the 3 Ad networks on my sites that Spore.com is currently using and this is not typical behaviour. Possibly there is some issue with the way the ad generation code has been implemented that needs looking at in more detail? Certainly with the over-bloated pages and the ads loading before the page content, the overall effect is far slower than it needs to be! (I've 16Mbit broadband at home, so I don't think it's my connection that is at the heart of the matter).

Given the local sporepedia links on the main spore.com splash page don't work - perhaps they could be removed or at least take everyone to their correct local version with the US sporepedia embedded in it? That would presumably take some extensive cooperation, but otherwise it isn't 100% quick and easy to reset for those who want to look at the actual Sporepedia! Deleting cookies in IE is a pain in the *biscuit*

I've noticed in the user event log, it keeps generating "UserX epicized CreatureX in the space phase" but these events seem to be false at least some of the time - I get occasional events that say I've epicized a creature when I know fine well that I haven't! That might ultimately be a game bug rather than a website bug, but I'm reporting it here based on the logic that I'm seeing it reported on the website

I don't know if this is a game or a website issue at heart - I'm opting to post it here because the online features seem to get their content generation from the web servers. The Featured Sporecast in game, seems to always be showing the same WW2 Sporecast, it's great and all, but I'd like to see some variety! Otherwise it's a redundant feature?

The community Stats pages are a great addition, I second the request to see more of that sort of thing! And the achievements as avatars would also be a cool idea for the forum - seconded as well

Otherwise keep up the good work & thanks for listening to our concerns! The whole enterprise certainly is an Epic undertaking and it's cheering to see the relative speed with which the crucial problems are being dealt with!

Further, I would assume that this means that we will eventually be able to sort those creatures created with C&C parts from those without. I would support this ability whole-heartedly!

However, if this is so easily integrated (a 30 min downtime for this addition) then I would hope that adding the ability to [b]sort creatures by all the stages[/b] ([i]Creature[/i], Tribal, Civ, and Space) wouldn't be hard. I have posted this several times and hope that someone hears the need for a Creature Stage sort in the online Sporepedia. I love making sporecasts with just creature stage creatures and this would make it a lot easier!

While I am posting I will add a request that this be taken further, similar to Vehicles, and let us [b]sort by Diet[/b] (Herbivore, Carnivore, and Omnivore). Without Sporescope I would not be able to tell a lot of these things apart. Please add this ability!

I'm thinking we should drop the post/user rating system. It just causes more extraneous arguments and distracts from the subject matter. That and IIRC it's nearly impossible to get 5 stars with the rating system because a single vote below five will jig the equation so that it never works out at 5 stars. Once you've gone below 5 you can never get it back.

Okay, I've seen a creature made by the C&C parts pack on the Sporepedia and would now like to change my hope in the above post to a feature request... Please allow us to sort by creatures made with C&C parts and creatures without C&C parts. This goes well with the rest of my feedback/feature request above asking for a Creature Stage Creature sort option. I'll take back my request for Herbivore, Carnivore, and Omnivore sorting if you give us C&C and not C&C sorting. [b]This goes for all the categories!!![/b]

I just want to throw in a quick thank-you to whoever has done the latest batch of changes to the website coding - it's a HUGE improvement. There's a lot of redundant rubbish gone, Firebug is no longer listing a ton of errors when I got to Spore.com lol, and altogether it's much smoother and much more usable. I certainly appreciate it, I'm sure others will too.

My suggestion though on this issue - it might be worth putting a note on the 'down for maintainance' notice, that visitors should try a force refresh (Ctrl & F5) when the site is back up, because a lot of browsers will cache old scripts by default and when that happens, as I'm sure you know, the results aren't always pretty, especially with so much auto-generated content, page links and items etc.

Not sure if this has already been suggested here or not, but the "Creations" column on the left side of the Sporepedia page could really use a scrolling bar (instead of the two arrows above and below).

When you have a lot of buddies, it is painstakingly slow to scroll using the arrows above and below the column. Not to mention said arrows work reversely in comparison to the usual navigator scrolling arrows (that use pitch, or down to make the page go up).

Please consider changing that, seeing that you are already improving much of the Sporepedia's interface.

I cannot load anything from spore.com in Firefox (3.0.4 version). I keep on getting a "500 Internal Server Error," plus a jumble of site template images. Reloading multiple times does not help, and neither does clearing my cache, it seems. The site loads fine in Safari, except that it takes several minutes to finish loading.

I'd like to be able to rename a sporecast. I created a sporecast named Realistic spaceships which is ment to be spaceships that actually look like spaceships that someone built for space flight, not a Nintendo DS for example. However someone already has a sporecast by that name but there's fits the name better because there's has ships that look like plausible near-future ships and not sci-fi ships. So I wanted to change mine to have a more accurate title. I could just make a new one, but I'd lose the subscribers I already have.

I'm sure people have mentioned this before, but when a post is moved, it should be deleted from the original forum section. As of now, all but three of the threads in the Spore General Discussion section have been moved to another section of the Sporum, but their original threads are still on there. It's quite annoying.

The sticky threads are causing part of the problem, because they take up a large part of the forum page. If you encreased the amount of threads that can be on a page, it would solve that problem.

I feel some of your pain. I created a Sporecast called 'random'. I was doing this because at the time I was unsure of what I really wanted it to be, but I wanted to get a hold of some cool looking creations. After a while I decided on the them being females, but I was unable to change the name to 'Females'. I ended up creating another Sporecast and dragging all the creations from 'random' into 'Females'. I think it would be a great update to allow changing of Sporecast names.

What can and cannot be allowed.
Citations supporting these rules either in legal text or in a EUA citation.
Examples of what is and isn't allowed.
Defining grey areas of potential confusion.
Explination of reporting processes and penalties.

The only places where such a thread exists is in the General Discussion, Roleplaying, and Help, . But apparently the rules in that post are just common knowledge kind of rules. No other forum has their rules posted. Creator Cornor has nothing saying I can't advertise one creation and how I must advertise a set. Showcase's welcome message doesn't even explain what that forum is about or how to go about creating challeges for other creators. Even this area, Feedback, has nothing saying what is and isn't considered feedback.

These Forum Guideline stickies need to be present and regularlly updated should something happen to change a rule. When I last posted on here, the rules were VERY different to how they are now, but there is no indication as to the changes and when they happened.

The benefit to this is if someone wants to dispute breaking a rule, they have a source of citation to reffer to. It will kill the rumor-milling as to what will happen if a thread is lock. It will set defining parameters as to what is and isn't a bannable offense in one forum verses another forum. It will even serve as an example as to why so many threads are moved from General Discussion to the other areas of the Sporum.

If anything, it will give wanna-be mods a book to throw at offenders before the Sporemasters do.

1. website is horrible

I find the website to be slow, clunky, and very quirky. In the last several days I have been getting alot of 'internal spore errors' while clicking on an individual's creations. this gets so bad that the website becomes unusable and I must restart firefox or IE.

The website is horribly designed and not user friendly. as much time that was spent into making the game, the website doesn't appear to have had the same ratio of completeness vs effectiveness. the website claims it retains our user logon infop, but lately has been acting very bizarre and makes me log in, while I am already logged in.

No cleaning out history and cache doesn't help, I found that the sporepedia online is now misbehaving at work as much as it does at home.

2. auto culling is pathetic and sharing is way too easy. make sharing a step more involved, the system is bogged down with garbage creations.

3. why doesn't the website have a posting or journal area on a member's page? comments scroll past and don't hang around, and taglines are short. even Red vs Blue has better journal capabilities that Spore, and EA has made BILLIONS off of us spornatics, why hasn't this been addressed?

4. RATE DECAY SUCKS and NEEDS OVERHAULED

5. why can't I see who my buddies are? who is in charge of this? wow, FAIL

6. why do the comment widgets misalign all the time or refuse to allow you to type? this is extremely annoying that I have to restart whatever browser I am using and go back to FIND a creation so I can comment on it.

Other than fixing the above, I also have some suggestions:

allow sporecasts to have icons just like creations, the icon would be creatable by the user, even allowing it to animate and show all the items in the creations, albeit small recreations.

if a creation is in a sporecast, allow that sporecasts name and icon to be shown on that item.

allow players to 'favorite' someoen elses creation, and allow a player to put a note on any creature, like a sticky note. example: "this is one of bobs creatures, I need to check it out and get back with him on it.", or 'contact user and advise them to not use my creations without crediting me'

i hate having to click 'sporepedia' to get my buddy list and sporecasts to appear, maybe keep them there or a toggle button. it will make updating sporcasts easier on me. also when i type in the name of a creation i have on my page it wouldn't show up (someone extincted something and i wanted to see what it was, i don't remember the names i give everything). this is my feedback thus far.

Could you get the forum functioning correctly? The new post notifiers don't seem to be working correctly, at least for me(require anywhere from 0-5 refreshes to get them to show) and I've used this style of forum for other games before and it worked fine. Also, it is labeling some of my posts as unseen when I've seen them two or three log-in's now.

I am running a contest right now where I have asked people to put in the Tag [b]paco_cat_contest1[/b]. When I enter the search for the Tag I only get some of the creations with the tag. I know this because I have looked at other creatures people have entered and the Tag is present. This is problem because if somebody has entered the contest, but did not post to the Thread I may not know they have entered. And if it is occurring with this Tag it makes me wonder what other things are not being picked up when people do searches.

The "search" feature hasn't worked correctly for a long time. It would be great if it actually found all relevant creations that are specified by the search criteria.

Also, the Community Stats screens don't seem to ever update... it would be much cooler if they did.

I came up with something that would benefit the people that make polls on the forums. I kind of ran into this problem when making a poll, and it should be fixed.

Make a "Multiple Choice" option for the poll creator, which will allow the people that participate in the poll to choose multiple options instead of just one.

A suggestions forum would be nice. Currently the only place to put suggestions are in the General Discussion, the feature request thread, and the Feedback forums. This would easily distinguish suggestions and we can listen to other people's ideas easily. Besides, not many people go to the feature request thread.

Other things:
A cancel button to cancel a post.
Have a remember me button when entering the forums
Have the forum open on the same window when doing so directly from the Spore website
Fix the glitch of having 3 views at the start when posting a new message.

A locked thread vault would be nice, too. This would prevent the forums from being crowded with locked threads. It would probably be moved over to the vault after 24 hours.

Just exactly [b]when[/b] will the thousands of [b]inactive[/b] pre-Spore release accounts be stripped of their creations in the so-called cleanup, [b]instead[/b] of the active post-Spore release accounts that not only visit spore.com daily but also have all their creations in a sporecast???

I recall reading management posts to the forum saying that accounts that meet that criteria would not have their creations removed.

So much for that assurance being true when almost every time I log in there are more missing, from my My Creations page, and also from my sporecasts. At the rate they are disappearing I will soon be at zero because I can't make them fast enough to stay ahead.

And, of course, I would also like to know if and/or when my missing creations are going to be restored.

I am sure I'm not the only one this is happening to, so instead of chatting about what would be nice to have why don't some of you comment a [b]lot [/b]more on what we currently have that is definitely [b]not[/b] so nice.

In case anyone who reads this is wondering if I'm irritated - yes, I am! I'm beginning to feel that the place is being run by a bunch of children who don't know, or don't care, what they are doing and wouldn't know the first thing about the job they are being paid to do. Tweaking the server at this late date, to sort out fundamental issues that should have been functioning perfectly before Sopre was released for sale is much more than a mild disappointment.

Feedback from someone who actually has the position, and the authority, to comment would be appreciated.

@Kaidian - None of the Stats are updated, ever. I'm not sure why they set up a whole Stats page, only to have it be a static snapshot of what was going on in November, but that's what they did. Maybe someday it will be updated...

@Lessa1 - If you are randomly losing creatures from your MySpore page, then you should post in the Help section. That it not something that is supposed to happen and I'm sure some one in the Help section would be willing to try and help you figure out what's going on. It's unlikely that the content culling procedure is the issue.

The web part to announce Galactic Adventures is really very annoying. I can understand it showing up and being there the first time somebody visits their page or for a short time, but after awhile it really is irritating. I have already purchased an advanced copy so why do I need to have valuable top of the web page space destroyed by what is now a totally useless ad. I go to the website to see what friends are doing, what is being featured, and to see comments; not to get spammed with unwanted ads. This reduces the appeal of the website greatly and is counter-productive. If I didn't like the game so much, I'd already be asking for my money back on the expansion out of irritation from this spam ad. Don't rant often, but thought it best to express just how annoying the ad is. Thanks for listening.

I think the website needs to include the ban option. I've seen things on here there's no way I want it in my game. I can't find a way to keep it out either nor can I find it in the sporepedia (let alone survive the server timeouts trying to find it) but it's bad IMHO and I don't want any of it but see no way of preventing interception. I know the odds are against me getting it but what about others they made or other players getting this "stuff" from this person? There's not alot of parents interested in this type of content nor would they want their kids getting it. What can I do about it? I tried to ask a question with help but it had a security certificate issue and McAfee warns against going there so I feared proceeding. I didn't not continue as recommended by McAfee.

Don't get me wrong, I don't run around seeing what I can get banned but I do browse what looks cool and as soon as I see something as offensive as what I saw today I surely hope I can do something about it. This is not the place for that type of stuff (or so I am to believe).

I hope to see a way to affect my game's content from the website in situations like this.

I'm all for a solution so if anyone has any ideas... Please let me know what you think I should do about this until a change is made with the site (if it's decided upon).

Didn't you say something like this before? I'm pretty sure it's not the website, but you'll have to provide a little more information so we can figure out what's going on.

I'd suggest making a thread in the help section describing the problem along with your system info and browser.

As to the BANs, I would like the ability to block a person's creations or a single creation from my games without "reporting them" There is stuff that is not considered offensive,, but one just doesn't want to look at. Vehicles/buildings/creatures that look incomplete (pure white). I was Playing around on spaceship creator and basically made a flying white block. It ended up on my page. I deleted it that very day. It has shown up since in two of my games and has been in three other people's games. Wish I and the others had a choice to Block and replace designs such as that.

As is, I want to BAN some of the creature's actions in the game. The creature who keeps wanting to breed all of the time is sickening. I havn't even earned 5 DNA points since the last evolution and there it is, swooning and acting like its in heat. The the CHARM skill where they shake their behinds in each other's faces, quite crude, rude, and low brow. Especially when they look like care bears. I will never be the same.

Two issues: 1) regarding missing achievements, most are back, but Front Page News is missing, as it is the hardest to get I would like it back as well as other missing achievements as well as others that should have been there a long time ago, thanks for anything that can be done about this.
2) regarding your add for the new expansion pack on "My Page", I want it gone or control of where to put it! Is this my page or yours? If I can't have control of "MY Page" then it is not mine. If this is not gone soon or if I can't control where it goes then I will delete all creations and all but two sporecasts, then make an unshared copy of all I like in game and delete all I've shared. You can advertise to nobody as nobody will see it on "Your Page". If you want to chase away one of your more popular creators than keep it there, I'll play offline and pull the plug on all I've done.

Very small suggestion for nittering litte annoyance.

On the left column in the sporepedia, where my sporecasts, buddies, etc are listed.

The items are not ordered (at least in anyway I can make sense of).

Could the content become orderable?

I'm most annoyed when I want to look at a buddy's creation on both the site ad the browser. Sometimes it's very hard to find the buddy's tag.

I don't want to seem rude but the Sporepedia really became painful to use. Making a search is just completely unuseful, you're being drowned by thousands of horrible creations without any ability to sort them by rating or else.
The same thing goes for the Sporecasts ; what if I want a good Star Wars Sporecast ? I type Star Wars on the search and what do I get ? A hundred pages of sporecasts all named « Star Wars » and I can't sort them by number of subscriptions, making it really hard to find a good one.

In general I think the search need to be improved, like the possibility to make an advanced search. Exemple : searching all the creations with « Strider » in their name, AND where the name of the author is X or where the creation have the tags Y or Z. That would make thing a little simplier.
Still, the search engine in itself seems to be crashing a lot. Well, it doesn't « crash » but sometimes you make a search and it stays blank for twenty seconds, or the page keep going forth and back between pages, the results change in the middle of something or else. It's kind of annoying.

A lot of work needs to be done on the URLs, too. If I want to show a Sporecast to someone I can't. Why ? Because there is no proper link displayed, to the creations themselves, or to the sporecasts. And since Spore is a lot about sharing it's a real problem in my opinion.

That were my thoughts. Sorry for any spelling error or else, I'm french. I just came here to share the things I think needs improvement.

LOL!! I have to admit I thought the same. The way they charm is somewhat rude looking and not very appealing. It's all about the hineys the way they do it. I can live with it (if I have to) but LOL the way Wailwulf says it cracks me up..

But banning without reporting is very important to me for the reasons mentioned by wailwulf, some are just not done, a big floating white orb. I can't see that improving my gaming experience in any way but just the opposite, degrading my gaming experience!! It's horrible to see that and I don't want to ban them & report them, just not see the content in my game.. Like Wailwulf said, it may have been an accident or something.. I've been putting sporecasts together lately and searching the website for different types of creations.

The one main thing I keep experiencing is the difficulty in locating creatures based on their look alone. Due to the large number of creations now on the server, sometimes finding what you are after is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I would really love to see a different/additional set of search criteria based on body parts, size of creature, colours/textures used, number of legs, mouths, eyes etc

It would also be good to filter creations such as in-game creations/first land evolutions and uncoloured vehicles/buildings as these tend to make up the bulk of stuff online you never really want to view anyway...

Lastly (and I know this one is a lot less likely and also already mentioned) a browser plugin that lets you view creations properly online would just be wonderful... lol can't huirt to suggest at least

Many sporecasts were wiped clean at once on more than one occasion the past few months.

Sporecast creators need a [b]button to download a backup file for individual sporecasts[/b]. In the event of another such mass data loss, creators can simply upload this file and restore the sporecast to its last backup state.

This is crucial for sporecasters like myself with very large sporecasts.

Bug Report: Yesterday I deleted about ten comments and up rated about 10 creations on the MPN list, then later found ten emails in my inbox from gps@ea.com regarding the reporting of abuse. I did not report any abuse, it seems the servers took my deletes or R+'s as clicking the report button. As this will lead to the staff being flooded with false reports you might want to look into this one.

Things I'd like to see on Spore.com

1) On MySpore page a section that lists who all has buddied with me.
2) A stat on each creation for how many sporecasts it is added to
3) And on this stat, a link to a list of each sporecast it has been added to.
4) My Events on MySpore page should be retained longer (ie, a longer list or lists for each type of event: Comment, Buddied, Joined the Posse, Eradicated, etc.)

Just doing a quick search for name and nothing else:

Only 284 of my 342 creations show using the search

Only 64 of MaxisCactus's 84 creations show using the search.

Only 91 of (Sporemaster)Kaliena's 221 creations show using the search.

This has been known for a long time. What gives? Forgive me for sounding arrogant, but since this has been known for so long, why hasn't this been fixed yet?

Both of these have likely been already posted, but I don't feel like checking through all the posts. This leads nicely to my first proposal, to add a search function in specific threads. That way you could search for a user name to see if anybody in particular has posted in the thread, or content of posts so the same thing isn't repeated twice.

Secondly, I really think there should be on Off-Topic board. Specifically and art board, so that the creator corner isn't filled with sig shops. I know for certain that this would be a popular idea. Other sub-boards could be a writing board, a music board, etc. This Sporum isn't just a question and answer board, it has a community that has other interests with nowhere to discuss them with others here. Addressing this would greatly improve the Sporum, I believe.

Agreed. Although threads like "[url=http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/19272.page]Spore Art Club! All Art Mediums Welcome![/url]" are holding up at the moment, a dedicated board would help clean and organize it all.

Oh ya, I commented on that. Maybe it was the title. I dunno, "Herald of Obsurdity" does sound kinda funny. If their's one thing I do like about it though, is that it's old. (Come on, it was like 3 or so pages back when it got featured.) And here I was thinking that Maxis only chose newer creations. So congrats on the lottery feature, or whatever you want to call it!

I'm having troubles with the Rate Up / Rate Down feature of the website. Roughly four times in the past hour I've been rating people's creations up only to have green-rated ones go down to blue and blue-rated ones go down to yellow. Why is this happening? I never down-rate anything on SPORE so to have my vote count opposite of what I intend when I submit it -- it makes me feel like a jerk for just trying to be nice!

What's the cause of this problem and when can we expect it to be fixed? Should I just avoid rating things at all until I receive some notification? Blargh!

Hi Nephian,

It sounds like you're experiencing something called "Rating Decay." Rating decay automatically occurs when rating older creations; over time the rating of the creation will go down until it reaches the 0 point again, but the change is not visible until someone causes it to update by clicking the uprate or downrate button.

It is called Rating Decay. The rating of a creation decays over time. However, it do not update the current rating until after a person rates the creation. So a creation with a Green Rating may actually have decayed to a Yellow Rating, but if nobody rates it, it will appear as a Green Rating. Once somebody goes to rate it, it'll be updated to Yellow, even though it was uprated.

The best thing to do is to avoid uprating something that is over a week old.

Hi...I currently manage somewhere around 96 sporecasts (it's difficult to keep an exact count, since the Sporepedia displays the incorrect number and they take a lot of time to count).

I have a problem where around 80 of my sporecasts all start with "Mythology: ". Unfortunately, if the next word is more than 4 or 5 letters long, which it usually is, I can only see the first two letters. Is there any way you can do anything about this? It would make my job of managing these sporecasts much easier (I've been putting up with it for about six months now), but I'm getting Alaska and Algeria, Greece and Greenland, and Arabia and Argentina mixed up, as well as a few other sets of two and three that begin with the same letter.

Also, I'd love to see where I can sort the list of sporecasts in some customized fashion. This would make finding them much easier, since there are nearly 100 of them on my list now.

Amen, PacoPaco...from the start, I've wondered why that wasn't an option. If it weren't for the fact I might lose my 2,000+ subscribers (and they would be very confused, too), I would have started the Mythology Sporecast Collection from scratch without the "Mythology:" in front, just because renaming isn't an option.

(Thankfully I had the insight before I created my Prehistoria Sporecast Collection [i]not[/i] to include "Prehistoria: " at the beginning of each name.)

Also...it's difficult to tell whether this thread is ever actually monitored by people of consequence. Could we get an occasional response to let us know our suggestions have been heard?

I was browsing through the Sporepedia today and noticed that when searching under Animals there is no section for Early Creature Creations and instead they're all lumped together with the regular creatures.

I'd like it if those two categories were separated as early creatures do have a pretty distinctive style. Occasionally I like to make them to popular early creature stage but they look really bad when they're shown next to some of the fantastic fully developed creatures in the Sporepedia.

1) Hand off: If I have a sporecast that people subscribe to and I want to stop maintaining it I would like to be able to hand ownership off to someone else

2) Multiple Owners: Create a sporecast with multiple "owners" options could include every owner can add whatever they want, or somebody can suggest and then the owners can vote, owners can vote new owners off or get new owners.

3) Discussion: A built in discussion forum for the sporecast

4) Suggestions: The ability to suggest to a sporecast owner something that would be good to add to the sporecast.

I'd like to be able to see online how many activations there are of your key, or something similar.

I know everyone hates the securom protection and everything, but it's fine as long as you don't install too many times.

I've had to re-format my drive quite a few times since I bought Spore (not sure how many) and I've upgraded my edition of Vista, each time re-installing Spore, and I'm just dreading the day when it says my Spore key isn't valid any more.

If people knew how many they had left, and were able to report to EA that the last activation was for a particular reason, EA could have keep correspondence with the Consumer so the activation reset wouldn't be so much trouble when it comes around, or people could reset at the 5th installation, saving frustration when they realise at their 6th that they can't play without dealing with EA.

It wouldn't have to be linked to account, just the key, so if someone took your account information, they couldn't steal the key aswell.

You must be using Chrome or an old or a third-party browser. Use Firefox 3 or Internet Explorer 8. Chrome doesn't work well in forums.

Chrome actually isn't supported for viewing the Sporums or Spore.com, but I use it regularly and haven't had any issues. You might want to check to make sure it's updated. Chrome 2 was just released.

It occured to me the other day that if a group of people constantly spammed any other forum with offensive religious spam, it wouldn't be tolerated for long.

The obvious follow up thought is why is this then allowed in specifically the Science Forum?

Not only is it allowed, it seems almost sponsored by the moderators as the only ones ever getting warnings by the moderators are those that oppose this and give voice to all of us who are insulted, disgusted and affronted by this vile filth.

I can well understand that one wants to have a free and tolerant climate in these Forums, and keep moderator intervention to a minimum, but I do think that there are a few things out of line here:

The Science Forum is obviously destroyed by these offensive secterists. And quite possibly intentionally so. Isn't that enough for a sweeping moderator intervention?

Creationism is obviously not science, never has been and never will be, so why is it allowed in the Science Forum in the first place?

Religion by itself is by it's very nature highly insulting, offensive against rational, intelligent beings. I won't currently go into the number of people that have been tortured, burned, murdered all over the world throughout history by these secterists, for no other purpose than enforcing their vile lies, but I might later. The point now is just this: Why is EA/Spore bending over so much and lubing up for the religious right? Do you think they are the only ones that can be offended? Or do you think they represent a greater economoc/political power factor?

I think it's good that the Spore profile pages are more tidy after the maintenance, and that Sporecasts have been made viewable directly from the profile page. However, I think the newest creations boxes should be slightly bigger, or there should be more of them, especially on public view.

Also, when my personal profile page is loading, the "You have unapproved comments" string is displayed, no matter if I have new comments or not. It disappears when the page has finished loading (if I don't have any new ones). This can be confusing.

I noticed this too. I even rated up one that was blue and it became yellow.

Another thing is, the comments I got and approved after the maintenance are not showing up when viewing the commented creature.

Sorry I've been trying to be really positive about this but I absolutely hate the changes. The site went from a uniquely designed site...tailored for a game like spore...to what looks like a facebook or myspace page.

Looks really generic and dumbed down, its takes up to 30 seconds for my page to load everything after I bring it up and responding to comments are a real chore now considering all the steps you have to take just bring them up and read them. I like the old layout so much more.

Too much information, too slow and now the few creations you can see are lost on the page. That and the issue with multiple account sign in has not been addressed, when I sign in:

FireTiger(rest of email removed) and put in my password it logs me into my last sub account (FireTiger's Pal) this is really annoying as there is no way to delete the sub accounts.

It might seem like a good idea to you, but consider this...I have the PSC named as follows:
Prehistoria, Ediacaran, Cambrian, Silurian...etc, and they are arranged in order of epoch.

If these are alphabetized, I'll have to do a lot of scrolling when sporecasting dinos (which are what I sporecast most often). I have enough troubles getting the scrollbar to even appear (it usually takes about ten+ page refreshes).

If you are concerned about the order of your sporecasts, try this simple tweak:

Change the keywords of any sporecast, but make sure there is a comma every two words or fewer. Save the new keywords. Voila, that sporecast is moved to the top of your sporecast list. Repeat as needed. I'm glad I discovered this feature. It helps me keep my most important casts up top.

I try to use the spore website as little as possible.. Since i live in EU i have the EU spore website. This website is mabye the most clumsy, laggy website ive ever used. It often crashes completly and spore creators and thumbnails are often not visible! From Januar-Mars i wasen't able to approve comment's and i could not rate, not comment, not anything! That was pretty anoying. Ive heard of player's that have been forced to quit spore cause of the many glichtes on the sporepedia and the website (such as Reiderman). When great creators are forced to stop playing cause of all the fails and glichtes it's time to do something!

Another annoying thing about the website is that is one for EU and one for the US. That is extremly annoyng when you are gonna post a link to your creatures at the Sporum. It also seems that the US website is better than the EU, cause you can more easely browse creatures.. and it's clearly faster. Please stop to make differenses between EU and US in Spore. (as releasing GA 3days before in US )

I believe there are entire threads completely removed from this forum. There is of course a small possibility of it simply just being me not having found it. But that possibility is, by now, very small.
So, I wonder, what would be the reason for an entire thread to be deleted?

By the time I last saw such thread, there was nothing that should be offensive being discussed.
There was technical details being discussed, but none that EA or Maxis own.
And there are much older threads available so it's not an issue of moving to a new forum or cleaning out old stuff.

I waited a while before posting to see if the problems I'm experiencing with the new layout were in the process of being worked out, but it seems not. I too experience a terrible lag waiting for the My Spore page to load and often times instead of loading I find myself logged out. This will happen when browsing the sporepedia as well. I'll be waiting for a page to load and the wait will seem a little longer than normal. Next thing you know, I'm logged out. Very annoying. Not a big fan of the new changes. Do like the addition of the download now button and the creation tracking stats to curtail stealing creations and claiming them as ones own. Great job there, but everything else just seems to have slowed the site terribly and caused a lot of aggravation. I'm pretty sure from the posts I have read here, that I am not alone in dreading going to the Spore site to upload, browse, or publish sporecasts. If EA wants people to use the site as it was intended these problems really need to be addressed before people start saying "The heck with it" and not bothering any more with trying to publish or interact through the site.

An idea I had:
Graveyard Forum: We add the Graveyard forums so that threads that have gone without a post for 2 months are placed here, and locked. This will cut down on necroing and open up space! To get a thread out of the Graveyard, one must PM the Sporemaster that put it there with valid reasons as to moving it.

I think the Tools page linked from the new MySpore pages should include a section for the community's API apps (QualitySpore, Spore Tournament, etc), or at least a link to the app gallery. Almost nobody's ever going to find the app gallery where it is now under Community->API->Gallery. Adding a link to the Tools page would help the community discover the apps people have made.

I'd like to say that timezones are still not working for me properly. I can change them and they remain that way however they set back to default (GMT or whatever it is) after some time, be it a day or immediately after I reload a page.

I would LOVE to see the 'Most Popular New GA adventures' separated from the 'Most Popular New Creatures', having it's OWN page instead of the MP GA mixed in with the MP NC! The GA's are overshadowing or overtaking the MPN page and makes it very difficult to see the creatures in-between the GA's, I think because of the dark blue backgrounds on the thumbnail images. It would be SO MUCH easier to view the creatures and the GA's if they both had their own page instead of being blended together. Thank you very much for considering this idea.

The achivement stats need to get updated for Galactic Adventures. Also some achievements are listed twice there.

It's well known but I wondered if the right people were aware. Most archetyped captains (ie. non wanderers) have a title based on their archetype in the Sporepedia, for example:

Because Spore.com is a redirect to MySpore whenever you're logged in... When you're not, it's an advertisement or a language selection screen depending on if you have selected a language.

Recently, I got an error message when I tried to log in. I can't recall the exact message, but it apparently was an HTML-error, and the message advised me to contact a forum admin and lookup the source HTML. It also prevented me from logging in.

Now, several minutes later, the error message doesn't pop up anymore, and I can log in as if nothing ever happened.

I find this forum to be quite... unstable at times. Often it gives me an error citing 'You don't have sufficient privileges to access this forum', most often when I just pressed 'submit' for a post in a thread I could access without trouble in the past... And once I clicked 'Go to Forum Index', and revisit the thread, I can read it without trouble again.

EDIT: Another example: whilst typing this thread, the forum logged me out, and the error messages started to pop up again... Whereas I've only been logged in for five, maybe ten minutes. This time, I copypasted the error:

The forum is organized easily, but there are so many bugs.

I, for one, keep getting the bug: Oooops.. You don't have sufficient privileges to access this forum.

another frequent error, the spore forum directory said in the spore help section: "no messages" when the day before it says the last post was .

This forum should be checked more frequently than it is now.

Still, the forum is quite a piece of work.

I believe the error is occurring due to an inability to set the new number of pageviews. This is probably caused by one of two scenarios:

1) Too many people are trying to view the thread at once (not likely)
2) The forum is becoming so large that it cannot keep up with the pageview demand (more likely)

That's the best diagnosis I can issue right now.

I am having issues with sporepedia.

It's been working fine in opera today, but the day before, every time I'd try to do something, It'd revert to page one. For instance, lets say I am looking at featured or most popular, or even a specific user with alot of creatures. I sort them be animal, creature stage ect and press submit, then say I go to page 10. Once the page loaded, or sometimes when clicking on a creature to bring up it's download window, the page would refresh, take me back to page 1, in unsorted mode. It worked in firefox just fine, but was slower, by alot. Today, it worked fine in opera. The opera bug was duplicated in IE8.

Long names on creatures and such from the main sporepedia make you unable to click on the users screename. You need to click on the creature to bring up it's window, then do it. Needs to be fixed. Does this in firefox, IE8, and opera.

In maxthon, both 1.xx and 2.xx versions, when you mouse over a creature it simply dissapears. Lets say you mouse over the entire first row of that page and make all the cards vanish, when you go to the next page, the creatures or items stay vanished in those positions.

Trying to search sporepedia from spore itself, after installing the 5.1 and cute and creapy I get error on search. Cannot connect to server. Which is odd since I can download creatures and browse just fine.

After going through an archetype change mission from bard to shaman in space stage using my ‘main’ captain, he now displays on the web Sporepedia as a wanderer. It's a bit of a pain, because I don't like it looking like I just picked him up in space when I actually played from the start with his race.

This also happens, if you start with any other stage than the cell stage. My captain should be knight (and he is a knight in the game), but in the online Pedia, he is shown as wanderer

I would really like the most popular creations in sporepedia to filter out adventures, much like the most popular adventures filters out creations. I'm not nearly as interested in the top 4 creations as I am in the stuff way down through the 100s. About then I hit pages and pages of adventures which means I don't get to see the interesting things people are making, without considerable work and load time.

I enjoy looking through the adventure pages to search for interesting new adventures. I'd like to do that with the non-adventure creations as well.

Would it be possible at all to add a feature within your tab on your myspore page to have a sporepedia page that filters just your buddies creations in the same way you can filter everything else. I try to comment on as much of their stuff as possible, and it takes ages sometimes as I have to scroll through my buddy oist on the side (which is sometimes cut off so i cannot see them all).

Surely it is possible, and would be a nice feature for others like me who like to give feedback as much as possible to those we have subbed too.

I see in the rules that all topics need to relate to spore, but most of the science section doesn't even though several threads in the Science section have been locked for it. Also, most threads in the RP section have nothing to do with spore. I am confused on this rule.

All right, why is it that Maxis keeps on focusing on experimenting with weird little concepts like the new Creation Location Map and introducing new site features rather than fixing those features Maxis already has?

Shouldn't Maxis instead be focused on FIXING EXISTING BUGS both on the website and in the game?

Last time I checked, even that will not work anymore as it keeps giving a "Could Not Connect To Database" error. Not that many people have probably even noticed.

Now, there's this other new eye candy of this Creation Location Map which looks like it will get boring for most people very quickly.

@iiiHuman, I used the location map once and the galaxy search tool once. I'm also rather fed up with these eye candy features getting released every tuesday.

I still can't earn achievments and my scores/times don't appear on the spore website, that includes trophies.

Finally. Please revert the accept all comments button, it is now a nightmare to return comments and leave comments which you don't want to accept. Either that or add an accept all on current page button.

You do realize that they probably have the same programmers doing BOTH, right? Besides, even if that isn't the case, maybe they should re-assign the programmers to work on bugs instead of on creating new eye candy that rarely gets used and probably adds more bugs. If they're programming features for the website, then they should be more careful about bugs they create on the website. And, they should have experience debugging. Plus, they could use more quality assurance testers to actually test the website applications for bugs. Etc, etc, etc.

Actually, no they probably don't. It's apparent you have never worked on a large software project with components which are both web and application based.

Most people, by the time they are professionals, specialize. It is not typical for a C++, physics expert to code websites, any more than it is for a web presentation layer guru to run project development.

We become great at doing certain classes of programming. While some people cross project lines, you will find very few companies (except the smallest) where they look for someone who is a master at XHTML, DB2, Java, Perl and Python, and also can run the Mercury Suite, knows SOX requirements [u]and can put paper in the printers.[/u]

I have been almost 40 years in this business, the last 18 or so in web service development -- one of the rare things that DOES span web, browser based applications and stand alone applications.

So, other than insurance, retail and Mom&Pop applications shops -- there is NOT going to be crossover.

If you don't think I know, go find me some adds on Monster that show requirements for crossover -- 'cause I can point you at the thousands that don't.

Now for something completely different....

I noticed the changes in the layout of the MySpore page last night. The page looks great without the borders around all of the sporepedia pages. That's super, much cleaner and tighter.

I did see one negative effect.

The tabs are missing from above the main table views in Firefox.

Those are the tabs to switch between the Core and GA information.

The headers and tabs DO show up in IE 8 with compatibility view on.

I'm not sure about IE 7, since I have not started that machine yet today.

The .pngs seem a bit smaller, as well, but that may be the effect of the borders being removed, and I just notice it without them.

Well, I care, because I like the website features. They add a lot to my experience, and I value the upgrades to the pages and the increased stability to the forum.

There is no reason to with hold features on the web side because there are problems on the applications side.

I, for one, feel no need to be "punished' be lack of features just because a different team hasn't released anything.

Additionally, PROGRAMMERS don't decide what code they are going to work on. Managers don't decide either. MARKETING decides, and sometimes other stakeholders.

Whipping programmers does no good. They may well want to work on other features. I know that was true for my team, many, many times. But if we wanted to work, we worked on the features MARKETING had decided to sell.

Don't cut off your nose to spite your face.

And PLEASE, don't take away MY dessert because you don't like YOUR main course.

I am on several other forums that have them, and it does a lot for our ability to filter out chatter and nagging.

I have a persistent "follower", and additionally, there are others who regularly post the same kind of silliness that I'm not interested in.

Insofar as possible, I scroll past them, but it would make it much more enjoyable to to just hit the "block" button and never see the person's posting again.

I look at that communities page about fansites, and it seems like it is getting out of date. There are some that still exist, but don't look active, and there are others that have been dropped.

Also, it needs a link on it where people can submit sites that should be added. I've seen posts for a couple come up lately in General Discussion. We should either have a stickied post to add candidates to, or a link to a place (or both) on the communities page and here.

I don't know about "most" people, but I love the community page as a resource. I don't want the "back pages" to be forgotten!

Application side is worked on by programmers and games designers, web is worked on by web designers - they are a different group of people entirely with different skills. They will be working on both simultaneously assuming they have the budget and remit for it.

Some will have the skills to fit both roles, but it is in the end not their choice what skills they apply.

It's nice to know someone else "gets it". I had given up on that, when it got to where I was tired of saying "Look!! Real world." vs. "Prefer my imagination". That's not to say I don't often prefer my imagination to the real world as well, but I try not to punish people when they don't align.
