How to ally with the Grox. spoilers

Okay I see this alot in the forum, so I want to make a "how to" topic about it.

Firstly you need to get the level 10 space stage badge, the Omnipotent badge.
This makes it so when you first contact the Grox they will allow you to talk to them.
Now for relationship, dont destroy ANY of their ships, it will make them a tad bit more angry, but if you do by accident you can still ally with them, so no harm.
Remember to turn your autoturret off, and tell all your allied ships to leave, if you dont know how to do this...than you are a noob.
For the first part of the Grox, do at least five missions for them at request, this improves relations.
Then run around their planets using the Super Happy Beam, this makes them happy as well, and its possible to get a +20 or +30 (in some cases) relations boost with them if you use this "friendly tool".
A huge boost in relations for them involves blowing up planets nearby in neutral or alien controlled space(not the grox). This can give you a +50 boost if you do it all five times. I only did it three times, I think.
Now, also give them five gifts of 100,000. This gives you a +10, also helpful.
You also get a +10 for them meeting you as a gracious super power, I am not so sure what that is, but if you dont have it, you can still ally.
Once you reach the Blue smiley for them. Get 3 trade routes with 3 of their systems, this will get you a +30.
Now with this and other parts combined you should be able to get them into the green smiley, thus resulting in an alliance if you with.
Remember to never destroy their ships, steal their items, and anything else mean. They hate that alot.
Side effects of the alliance include the ENTIRE galaxy hating and going to war if you come into contact with any races. However, I rarely get attacked, and actually haven't gotten attacked at all so far, so possibly a fear AI factor.
Rewards include a nifty secret space badge,(The badge is Dance with the Devil.) and being allied with the most powerful race in the game, woot!

Also, the allied ship you get following you around is insanely buff.

Some other notes.
Having a Grox ship in your fleet is like having the powers of God with you.
You can trade with the Grox and buy their planets, thus having the ability to construct Grox buildings when you buy the planet, since you will have a grox city now. You can build with non-ascessible items in a sense.

Its also possilbe to have even better relations with the Grox, supposedly if you have a very long alliance with them.
This hasnt been fully proved yet though.

Oh yeah, make sure you complete missions quickly as well and dont venture too much in their territory. It is wise to have a colony nearby so you can repair yourself all the time. The grox mission give you tons of money, so now worries about costs.

Well I had them blue and they attacked me still, others say they dont so I dunno.
I saved before I allied with them, went to the center, went back to the main menu without saving, so I at least got the achievement.
But thats if you dont want Grox buddies.

Now that is a goo idea and all, but the issue is, they will attack your planets all over the place, they are not easy to fight against. So terraform their planets to death.

Damned Grox. I also plan to try and blast them to shreds. I just wish that allies were more helpful... instead of just one ship of a few different races allying with me, it would also be nice if they led their own wars against the Grox on the sidelines. Anyhow, I have thus far avoided all contact with the Grox, because I am biding my time. I currently have a "mission" to find the Grox, but I say to hell with that, not until I have more control over my own cluster of stars. And I am doing pretty darn well atm... I am now going back to Spore to see what the heck my next course of action is while avoiding the Grox.

Well I have some new info, that I told someone thorugh a PM about, I discovered this tody.
"Interesting thing though with buying Grox planets, is that you get one of their cities and all their buildings with it too, and you cant edit them or use Grox stuff...so thats neat that you can, in sense play with some Grox-made items."

The second secret badge is exactly for this. It's called "Badge Outta Heck" and basically says: "Beat the Grox."

It is certainly the hardest badge to attain I'd say.

The Split Personality badge just requires to to switch Archetype, I've done that maybe 10 times over the last week on my hard diff game, been every Archetype on that game but a knight, which I'm still searching for. :<

Does an embassy have any effect on the Grox?

I tried placing one on one of their planets, but they were attacking it when I left, not sure how long it survived, and it didn't seam to have any effect on their happiness points.

I accidentally attacked them with my autoturret, so now I'm at war with the Grox.

I really do want to ally with them though. So I'm wondering if they ever do call off the war if you can get the relationship up to neutral. With the Soothing Song ability, I can talk to them as though we weren't at war and possibly give them gifts and such, but it's glitchy and they won't give me missions. So I can at least get bonuses from breaking galactic code and gifts, and the gracious greeting bonus.
Edit: And the Super Happy Ray.

Anyone know what the deal with the embassy is? That might help enough to make a difference... or maybe not, maybe we'll just be at war forever

Yeah, it was strange, when first meet them the Grox ships didn't attack me, just hung by me while I was in their territory.

But after the 2nd mission I did for them, they started attacking me, and kept attacking me as I kept doing missions and making them happy. I had to turn off my auto-turret and get rid of my allies ships so I wouldn't 'accidentally' kill one of the Grox ships and lose points with them.
Lucky they didn't do much damage, and I could repair my ship at Grox planets once they were in the yellow with me.

And once I had the Grox all the way into green, their ships would still attack me, even though their planets were quite nice to me. It was only when I allied with them that their ships stopped attacking me.

Must of been a bug, was funny though.

Well, they broke off the war after I blew up a couple of planets. But I still have the -50 penalty for it, which nixes the possibility altogether. I know it's supposed to be hard to do, but this seems bugged - it should replace with 'we were at war' which goes down slowly, so as to be tough but not completely impossible as it now is if they declare war on you once for any reason.

So I'm going to look into hacking my game to get rid of that, and I won't even feel bad about it.

For you Mommarules.
In your case it would be easy to ally, since you haven't blown their ships up if that is the only penalty you have at the moment.
Just do what the guide implies and read some posts, and you will be good in the hood.

cheat with control+shift+c and type moreMoney you get the joker badge for cheating and 1 mil each time you do it and if you press the up arrow key enter 50 times you get 50 mil which will buy you 100 planet busters and try to use them close to the grox as possible - without using it on them lol

That sounds good for another profile, but first time through I'd like to play the game legit. Does using them on the same faction over and over really matter? I am assuming that it wouldn't but I guess I could give it a whack on another faction. Any tips would be helpful, please!

Blowing up planets does help, but you need to blow them up on unclaimed systems or enemy systems right next to the grox empire, and I mean as close as possible.
The effects of breaking the galactic code are in a 10pc radius, so make sure the Grox know what you are doing.

I started the space part of the game over just to try allying with the Grox and I was Omnipotent with almost all advancements.

Really nice strategy thread, thanks... That said, with all in my hand to allie them, I intend to eradicate them from the galaxy... I'm too much of a mighty empire now, as too start doing the brown-nose stuff to those bugs. Kept myself away from the center, so don't know what lays in there... but my empire expands across three branches of the galaxy, all in peace... I'll watch them beg me eventually... or join the legion of skull'n'boned races...
We zealots are just like that... lol, will try on other save-game.

Lol nice Viraktixa. I am taking a break from Spore since the latest patch screwed my game up, as it did with everyone else, lol.
And for you dculling, I uplifted several species after allying with the Grox, and then I contact them when they reach the space stage, but they declare war on you, lol.
Its like the first message from them says they hate you and want to go to war, and when you go to their planet to talk, they thank you for uplifting them, but oh hey, we are now going to fight you now, lol.
Very bad AI.

My other space age faction did not go to war with me once I allied with the Grox, Is it possible to have an armada of saved game ships and allies? Think of the possibilities! Make a faction in each arm of the galaxy, take it over, and ally with yourself and the grox!

I've heard that embassies work over time and you have to give it some time. That being said, there really isn't any point in [i]not[/i] using a planet-bomb because once you ally with the Grox, the whole universe will hate you regardless.. something to think about!

Update on that little 'project' They do unally you as soon as you come into physical contact with them, they'll then tell you to leave whenever you come to their systems (I was gonna try and cozy up to them, but noooooooo)

Yeah had I known it was going to be like this I wouldn't of bought it (even if it was only like 100 bucks).. The next windows should be better, maybe they won't release it prematurely to keep up with apple. Here's hoping at least.

Whenever i try to install and this bar appears:

It loads up to 100% and then reverts back to 0%. Ive tried this for over 30 mins but the i just did not have the nerve for it.
Any suggestions?

Just want to make a small correction, I've allied with the Grox in one of my games and it DOESN'T make everyone go to war with you automatically. However the rep hit from that (-200) plus the hit you most likely already have from breaking galactic code make it very likely that almost everyone will. I had 3 or 4 races near my homeworld who were at +300 or higher rep when I headed off to start allying with the Grox and none of them were at war when I got back (everyone else was though), so it is possible to have select races remain at least on talking terms after allying with the Grox if you have put enough effort into rep with them in advance (missions, embassy, gifts, uplifting, happy beam, trade, trade route, etc)

Lol i turned it off after 30 mins because i was !@%#$%ed off because my computer started to lag and i couldnt use the internet or even itunes(no led zep or hendrix ) without the computer lagging and the patch intaller crash, so i have to end the proccess using ctrl+alt+del regardless if my comp lags or not, because if i try to cancel the installer, it crashes too =[

Uhm..yeah, that's kind of how the patch works. LET IT RUN.
It will go from 0% to 100% a few times, ignore it until it actually finishes and tells you you're good to go.

Also, I just allied with the Grox, it's rawrsome. My civ that I planned to use to destroy all sentient life in the galaxy was getting too soft. Removing all options of diplomacy helps. Of course now i'm surrounded by 4 5 star empires that I allied with before leaving...

I'd like to thank TheAngelofDeath for finding what I'm convinced is the best strategy for getting to the center of the galaxy and the best path to becoming, essentially, unstoppable. Thanks TheAngelofDeath!

First I must confess I wanted to test this strategy of allying with the Grox as quick as possible so I used the money and health/energy cheats. But I'm sure it can be done without cheats as well and I'll be starting a non-cheat game soon now that I know this great strategy.

In my game, before I went looking for the Grox I got to Omnipotent and made allies with several civs of which at least 4 where lvl 5. Then I started hopping wormholes.

First time I found the Grox I was surrounded and there wasn't any other civ to use the planet busters on so I went back and hopped some more wormholes. Eventually I found a wormhole that ported me close to the Grox with other civs close by. So I used the planet busters on a couple of those poor unfortunate civs. Funny how sometimes after I released a nuke they would contact me and try to surrender. Sorry mwahaha!

I believe you have to planet bust at least 5 planets to get the +50 with the Grox however I did try nuking several uninhabited planets too. That may be all that's necessary if you don't want to kill innocent civs, but I'm not sure. I will test that on my next game if someone else doesn't find out first.

First Contact With the Grox: The first Grox planet I flew to did not send any ships, maybe I was lucky I don't know, but I was able to talk to them and do the 10 gifts of 100k and get my first mission. Funny thing was they wanted a plant sample from the planet I'd colonized close to them and since I'd terraformed it from T0 to T3 I already had it in my cargo hold. I didn't realized this until after I'd flown back to my colony. So I went back to turn in the mission and then I was surrounded by Grox ships, but they didn't attack. I flew down to the planet and the Grox ships swarmed around me, but still didn't attack.

It was either after I turned in the mission or flew to the next Grox planet for another that the Grox ships started attacking me and wouldn't stop until I finally allied with them. Sorry I don't recall exactly when they started attacking me, but I reloaded the game several times trying to figure out how not to get attacked with no success. So expect to be constantly attacked by the Grox while you are doing missions for them until you get an alliance.

It would be great to find out if there is anyway to do Grox missions without them attacking constantly. I hope someone figures that out and posts back here how to do it. As it is one should be able to do the missions with a boat load of cash and repair packs. The Grox do pay very well for their missions too, I made 1.2 million on one, so maybe not that much cash is needed. While the Grox do not ever trade with you they will repair and recharge your ships for cash like any other civ.

This brings me to an important point: ALWAYS SAVE YOUR GAME BEFORE DOING ANYTHING WITH THE GROX. And another important point: TURN OFF YOUR AUTO BLASTER BEFORE THEIR SHIPS START ATTACKING YOU. You do not want any negative points with them for attacking their ships even though they are attacking you.

Strangely, most of the missions they gave me involved going to my own planets. I failed at least one mission which lowered my relationship score enough that I had to reload. One mission involved gathering up artifacts and delivering them to my own colony lol.

Oh yeah, make sure to start trade routes with them asap. You get positive relationship points for each of the 3 routes you can have. Plus you get to buy the system eventually. In my game they are happy with 1 million sporebucks for a system, but if you pay less they will go to war with you for being cheap. Did I mention SAVE OFTEN? I believe you can start trade routes as soon as they show a blue happy face, but I'm not entirely sure if sooner isn't possible. It would be helpful if someone could check on that.

Finally I got the green happy face with them and formed an alliance. They sent me their "Fist of God" spaceship which indeed makes all this trouble worth the effort.

When I do this again with a non-cheat game I will go ahead and head for the center of the galaxy at this point because it will make the next steps I took a lot easier with the "Staff of Life." Also in my game the Grox are the only civ close to the center making it easy to planet hop there. As it was I did manage to get there later with only Interstellar Drive 4. I don't know if one could make it with a lesser drive, but I don't think so as the distance you can travel become quite a bit less as you get closer to the core.

Next I wanted to see if I could patch up my relationships with my former allies, at least the lvl 5 ones so I could get their ships too. So I headed back to where I started. Most everyone had declared war on me, but at least one was just upset. So I started by bribing them, but the best thing to improve relationships is to terraform their planets. Just taking one of their planets from T0 to T3 made them happy enough to re-form an alliance. This is where the "Staff of Life" would be most useful as one could simply terra-bomb a planet into friendliness without the "Fist of God" making things worse by destroying their ships while you are terraforming the usual way.

I continued re-forming alliances until I had 4 lvl 5 ships plus the Grox "Fist of God" ship with me. Now I'm essentially invincible; I can go anywhere and no civ can hurt me much at all before they die or are terraformed into a friendly relationship.

I've salvaged some relationships (in spore, mind you ) by taking out most of the other faction's system and eventually they'll ask for a surrender agreement and then the relationship is reset at -50. Not very difficult to overcome if you can ally the grox. If you can ally them, you can ally anyone.

Yes as long as a civ is not "red faced" angry at you, improving their T score always makes them happier. I think it might be unlimited too in that no matter how angry they are you can get them up to a "green smiley" happiness by repeatedly terraforming, but I'll have to test that to be sure.

I tried improving the T score on a Grox world and not only did it make them declare war, but I believe it also destroyed their colony. If so that's a lot cheaper and safer way to destroy them than using conventional weapons or planet busters.

No matter what you EVER do, if you are at war with the grox, you cannot ally with them afterwards. You have to meet them first and not do anything mean to ally, once you are at war, its done for. Try another game or something, but for your case, you cant do anything.

If you are allied they will let you pass through, (easy acsess to the center of the galaxy), and they will repair and recharge your UFO if you want them to.

Also, whenever you meet the grox, make sure that you tell your allies to bugger off. They will continue to target and destroy grox ships even if you turn off your auto turret. Destroying their ships will easily lead to war.

Whenever you use a happy ray on any space civ, I found that it works better to hover over their colony and spray the citizens directly..

One other thing to watch out for: if you ally with the Grox, any and every race you Monolith up into the space age will automatically hate you. So, really, make sure you have all the friends you need (get their reputation to about 300) before you go to the Grox, because there's no way to make more afterward, not even if you grow them from scratch.

The -200 for allying with the Grox is constantly hanging over you. It leads to some weird exchanges, with races you boost up declaring war on you right away, then thanking you for uplifting them if you try and talk to them.

Of course, if you're the kind of race that would befriend the Grox, you were probably planning on invading anyway. I know that's what I did - find a planet with a rare spice, get it up to T3, drop a monolith on it, then come back and take over the tasty, tasty, city-filled, spice-producing world, while the newbies are still busy thanking me for "advancing" their civilization. If you do it in Grox territory, there's also no pesky humanitarians whining about galactic law if you use the Zealot superpower, either.

That's really one of the best things about living along-side the Grox - you can use planet-busters and destructive superpowers on innocent primitive aliens, and the Grox, instead of breaking alliances or suddenly declaring war, just cheer you on.

Speaking of breaking alliances - I recommend breaking the alliance with the Grox once, just to see how they respond (and I mean breaking it through dialogue, not by shooting them). It's pretty funny - and not really the sort of thing you'd expect them to say. Just don't save after it - you don't want the galaxy hating you without the Grox for back-up.

Just a couple of observations:

I allied with the Grox, and of course virtually everyone I knew went to war with me. That much I expected. But when I ran across another save game in my galaxy, it turned out they were at war with me too! I was looking forward to allying with them & all that jazz, but I never got any peaceful options in the dialog box when I talked to them. Oh well...

Another thing I noticed is that if you are dying to have lots of friends, and for some reason you ally with the Grox, you can always attack your potential friends and take over their systems until they sue for peace. Once you achieve peace with them, all your past transgressions will be forgotten (e.g., your alliance with the Grox). I currently revived my alliances with about 4 races that went to war with me after my Grox alliance, and unfortunately had to obliterate the weaker ones.

One more observation: In my game, the new civilizations I uplift aren't affected by my Grox alliance. I guess it happened far enough back in time that they don't know about it. Also, empires that are far enough from the core don't know about my Grox alliance either (I guess they don't know about the Grox at all!) I didn't bother dealing with those extremely distant empires, but I thought it was interesting.

So I guess my point is, your diplomatic ventures don't automatically end with a Grox alliance. You can still deal with other races, but you have to spank them first.

Also re: earlier posts, it's true, every race you encounter will have that -200 penalty. However, if you break your alliance, new empires will not have it... not sure if this includes those that weren't 'known' to your game but did exist beforehand. As to your old friends, you could always buy them off instead of attacking them.

When u ally the grox everyone hates u. Some allies will only be on orange smiley, not red smiley, and thus wont declare war. u can gift them and they go back to yellow but they dont forget that u allied grox. Anyone that is at war with u will forget that u allied the grox if u attack until they demand peace or if u pay them for a ceasefire, then u can do missions and ally them normally

I have two files where I met the Grox; one where they attacked me and one where they didn't. I was a warrior when they attacked me on first sight, and a zealot when they didn't attack me. Any way, I think weather they attack or not is based on your personality (I had gracious greeter as a zealot, which might also have something to do with it). Sorry that was a long explanation, but does it seem like it might be right?

In my file where I was a zealot (with gracious greeter) I wasn't attacked at first but after completing missions, giving gifts and placing embassys (and blowing up planets) I was on blue smiley, then they started attacking me!!! and every time I went to do another mission 4 them I had to abandon my allies, turn my auto turret off and repair every 5 mins. So it seems they wont attack for a short period of time but after a while your welcome wears out (also they attack if you get too close to the centre of the galaxy)

They fire at you as you get closer to the core, the only way to prevent it is to ally them.

It is actually better to let them go to war. Because, if they DO go to war with you, and you have the cash to end the war, the -200 score DISAPPEARS. If they don't go to war with you, that -200 score is stuck there. So...two good strategies both involving gobs of cash:

Do trade routes with them, and buy their planets... slow, but they don't charge too much for them...

Or, ally with them and then pay about 2 mil per war to regain your allies....and keep the grox as allies too.

okay, heres a kind o handy hint if you dont want all the peple in the general area of your empire ticked off and at war after you've allied with the grox
just pay then off, ifts pretty easy, fly to their systems and pay them off to stop the fighting, it completely resets the "you allied with the grox you jerks -200" relationship points and it is relatively cheap if you know what youe doing
if when you click "maybe some money could end this war" you choose the maximum amount, they'll end the war no matter what and go to around a yellow smiley or more
the lowest i've been able to bribe with and have always work is around 1.6 million dollars which is pretty cheap if you dont want to go about blowing up everything in sight

Ok after doing some reading I Want to end my war with thre Grox. But all they do is attack and I never get a option to pay them off or any way to improve the relationship. right now I am at -178? Am I Out of luck? I really don't want to start over? Allying with them was my intent from day one is space, Not sure why they hate me so I always try to not attack? Mpt sure where I screwd up. I have heard that if you have a bad (worse than from the start) relationship with the grox, the relationship will eventually start reverting to its original state if you leave the grox alone, just like with people you ally but ignore.

I have blown about 20 of their planets up. I know if I could just find their home world I cold put them in their place.

You can never trade with them. It doesn't have anything to do with reputation, they just don't trade other than routes. I imagine in game logic they have no real need to trade, and say as much when you set up a trade route with them.

If you get to the point where you're at war with the grox, I don't think you can ever have relations with them. Negative rep does decay if you leave them alone, but the -70 base rep they have will never go away, nor will the -50 for being at war. You can't make them ask for peace, or pay them off to end the war. Between breaking the galatic code and friendly tools you can get +50 and +30 (i think. might be 20) Rep bonuses while at war, but your overall rep will still be negative and they won't call it off with a negative rep.

I think it's been implied that you can't just unally with the Grox and everything will be fine and dandy with you and the rest of the galaxy. They'll still be pissed and slowly will return to not hating you.

I ignored the Find Grox mission until I randomly stumbled upon a wormhole leading to an isolated system (yep, other than going back in the wormhole, that system was the only other thing within reach). This system many planets/moons and for some reason, I decided to say "hey! Let's piss off the galaxy's most hated and ruthless species!" I terraformed one of their planets and blew up another. I can't recall if I saved before that, but my plan is to own an entire arm of the galaxy before going on the offensive again. Then again, it's always my ship versus them; there is no fleet or allies deciding to go to war with them.

No, they will keep hating you. The -200 doesn't fade over time, but you can eliminate it if you buy them off or force them to offer peace (by conquering their planets).

I have seen too many screenshots of people who have allied the Grox and fly around withone ship in their fleet.

I allied the Grox yesterday and already have all my powerful allies back on my side. What I did was
1( accumilate 100mil sporebucks
2( ally Grox
3( spend 70 mil buying peace

and voila I'm back to my former glory with an added Grox ship in my fleet

nb: u could also blow the SPORE through empires until they ask for peace and then become their allies but u get a relationship bonus for buying peace

You also get a +10 for them meeting you as a gracious super power, I am not so sure what that is, but if you dont have it, you can still ally.
Once you reach the Blue smiley for them. Get 3 trade routes with 3 of their systems, this will get you a +30.
Now with this and other parts combined you should be able to get them into the green smiley, thus resulting in an alliance if you with.
Remember to never destroy their ships, steal their items, and anything else mean. They hate that alot.
Side effects of the alliance include the ENTIRE galaxy hating and going to war if you come into contact with any races. However, I rarely get attacked, and actually haven't gotten attacked at all so far, so possibly a fear AI factor.
Rewards include a nifty secret space badge,(The badge is Dance with the Devil.) and being allied with the most powerful race in the game, woot!

Also, the allied ship you get following you around is insanely buff.

Having a Grox ship in your fleet is like having Jesus with you.
You can trade with the Grox and buy their planets, thus having the ability to construct Grox buildings when you buy the planet, since you will have a grox city now. You can build with non-ascessible items in a sense.

I think the happy ray is supposed to improve relations...it works on mine and many others. Strange issue you got there.

If you break the alliance, everyone will still hate you, unless you use a mod or a trainer to reset relations in your game. Other than that, you could say allying with the Grox screws your game, but one can cheat with mods and make it nice.

it helped me ally because i forgot to turn my turret off and destroyed one of their ships....and didnt realize until after i saved.

Grab a whole bunch of health packs and make a beeline for the center, but it's hard to find the right way sometimes, what with the gravity and large gaps between stars. It may take more than one try.

Yes to the first and conditional yes to the second.

You can have a good enough relationship so that they only turn neutral after allying with the Grox; and eventually they forget about it.

As for allies, no way to intermediate, you either got to pick a side or just ignore 'em; as far as I know.

The only way to have peace is to eliminate everyone; or at least most of them.

Ally with a Lv4 or 5 empire that follows a different Philosophy to your own and from the missions list choose "Teach me your ways", paying them a hefty sum (up to 10 million Spucks) and following the mission instructions. Once you have done that and go back to the planet, you change your archetype, receive their superpower and get both the Split Personality Badge and Achievement.

This is a very interesting topic. I didn't think it was possible to ally with the Grox. Call me a coward, but I dreaded the thought of facig them, and always ignore my allies whenever the Grox send ships to them. The Split Personality badge just requires to to switch Archetype, I've done that maybe 10 times over the last week on my hard diff game, been every Archetype on that game but a knight, which I'm still searching for. :<[/quote]

More fool you for "stealing their resources". Best thing to do is accept all missions they give you, then if you find that those missions take you to other Grox systems, delete them - you don't get negative modifiers for that.

Actually I found the Grox easy to beat, so much so that in one game I smashed my way through to the centre.

Get the shield and the mega bomb. They only have one base per planet so it's quick. As soon as you drop down to the planet, keep moving. Open the weapons panel if you have'nt already and select the shield and mega bomb. Ignore the ships using you as target practice, go to thier city. Drop right down till you bumb thier city hall and drop a mega bomb. The city will blow up and most of the ships will leave. Any that are fireing at you are easy prey with the super ship destroying bomb that can get more than one. I've forgotten it's name. lol. I've gotten so good at it I only use the shield on planets that have more than two bases.

All you need do then is suck up all the engines for cash and play at planet decorating until the shield has recharded. The only other two things you need are plenty of mega repair and recharge packs.

I wonder if there is a badge for killing them all..... mawhahahahahaha

Always look on Spore wiki for Earth stuff, its very helpful.
After you get to the center and you are still allied, nothing special happens, you are still allied, you instead just got there easily without them attacking you constantly.

to get to the center just find a wormhole that leads you closest to it. I found one and got lucky, (but i didn't ally w/ the grox so their was a full fledged war going on) i actually made it to the center...... unfortunately i was out of health and energy and had to cheat (the "refillmotives" one) right when i got to the center, so, i didn't get the achievement

A hint, a short hint, after you become friends with the Grox, just pay spore dollars (the max) to end the war with next door empires close to your home world. This will reset everything (relation wise) and even being friends with the Grox is not a problem anymore. Next just start a fresh relation with them, and all will be fine.

That is a possebility, I do think that you can buy out an empire to death... but buying out the Grox empire would take at least 20 times longer then killing off their planets considering how slow it takes to buy out one system. If you had the (trader?) superpower that lets you instantly purchase a system, that would definitely speed things up.

I want to see if you can ally the Grox and destroy them as well, because if you ally another race and have them attack the Grox the Grox don't get mad at you! And it's still possible to ally another race after you ally with the Grox, it just takes a little money!

hey all

havent played spore for a while. dern warhammer lol. but before i left i tried ally with the grox with a trade civ. took a while but i managed it. lots of deaths on my part. big help is before you even get to the point of discovering a grox ship anywhere. is turn your turrets off lol. i plan on getting back into spore sometime over the holidays. before i left my trader civ i was buying out grox planets. neat thing is ide wait till all three were ready to cap. and if you get into a routien you can purchase about 4-5 grox worlds at a time depending on refresh time of the trader super weapon. make sure to check your system once in a while though they do get hit alot by other systems. but in contrast those systems no where near hit like the grox would if your at war.

i plan on buying them all out sept like in previous post here leave a sysem or two of grox to smash, havent tried creepy or cute yet even though its installed, waiting to defeat the grox then treat myself later with a new race of those add ons from expansion. oh after i allied with the grox i did decide to cheat for more money just to be able to purchase systems. i can always get acheivents later on, in a new game. but big tip here is no mater what kind of system the grox own. 3 million spore bucks gets you the system every time. 99 million in spore bucks gets you quite a few of there planets lol.

good job angel. there is a way to keep other allies, but it takes about 6 days to get them from angry to orange. i think. plus, you should have bout, oh i dont know, 70 mil to stop the war.

other hidden badge is to defeat the grox. probably the hardest badge in the game.
(42 is easier when you ally with the grox. i had 4 allies from spodes empire-yes, their is one, they are omnipotent-
and still could not make it.)

im -5 in the alliance with grox. have all-powerful, finished all the missions for them, and have given them 27mil.
any tips before i rip my hair out?

A) Wipe out all the empires that are near my colonies so I don't get destroyed?

After I allied with them I wanted to see what my allies would do. To my surprise, the two level 5 allies I had were neutral and I got them back to being my allies by just using the super happy ray and giving gifts. Some of my level 4 allies had the orange frown and gave me money lol. So, I managed to get a full fleet back in no time. Another funny thing that happened was one of my allies still had a green smile after I allied the grox. I have no idea how that happened .

you get a -200 relationship points with ALL species in the entire galaxy. with some of you're 'close' allies, you might already have had enough points to still keep you in the Green smiley relationship.

If you've given them lots of money, done lots of missions and improved 3 T-Scores on their colonies (so T3ing a T0 colony, or T3ing three T2 colonies etc) then you will have more than enough Relationship to remain allied with them after you ally the Grox.

I would suggest that you just ignore the Grox completly because if you get into war with them your preety much dead. If you ally all empires will hate you you will get -200 for being allied with the Grox.

Something wierd happened recently concerning this issue.

On another game, I got up to omnipotent, established a colony nearby the center, then blasted 1 of their colonies on 1 of their planets with a super happy ray. I got them to neutral, but for whatever reason as I went to do a mission near some other grox worlds, the ships came out and started attacking me.

Could these be due to having all my allied ships still around me? I disabled the auto turret.

Hey, i was trying to ally with the gorx (planetbusters, money, you get it) but, as i was doing a collection mission for them, one was on a treasure planet, so i accidently "stole there resouces" and got a -100 from it, and now im at war with them, and i cant talk to them. i really want to keep my empire (my moon was a purple spice planet, and its huge) and i was planning on getting the badge for ally, then trying to destroy them (wasnt likely, but still)

But now apparently, i cant try to ally again, but i dont want to give up my empire. what should i do?

And happy Ray isnt working either...

What gets me though is while I'm trying to do a mission for them I still get attacked and I mean if I try to collect species from a planet, I usually get followed, and attacked while I'm doing that. Usually takes a good bit out of my spaceship if I don't have auto turret on or attack them back.

I got my Grox-allied Super-Empire (which is slowly buying their systems from the Galaxy Core out, including the Core-nearest "original" Grox homeworld) allied with another nearby Saved Game, and its ships are as well-protected as Grox ones, and haven't died yet.

I allied them yesterday, with help from this guide. Thanks for that!
So, with the official Maxis-mod in place, I reached the Galaxy's core like it was a walk in the park

However...In another save game, I got to the core the hard way and uplifted a bunch of worlds there, and provided them with quit some room for expansion. so now, there where about 10 Non-Grox empires around the core, obviously all at war with me for allying the Grox.
When I flew into the core, THEY ALL FOLLOWED ME, GUNS BLAZING!!!
Luckily, not trough the "wormhole" to meet Steve.. My Grox buddy did though.
When we came out, they where all gone and I went off (cheers for Return Ticket) back home to repair relations with the empires surrounding my homeworld

This way, I found out that you're far better off at war with a former ally than orange faced. At war, you give 'em 3mil and 100k and you're back in the green again most of the time. If they are orange faced, you need to do missions, money giving, terraforming, ambassy placing , happy raying etc.

Great post but to ally an empire all you need is +70. So you don't need happy ray and you only need one trade rout. Cheating also helps...

If you can, get shield. It helps, it really does. And try to set up a colony near by to recharge.

That is not true. I have allied with them and still had one or two allies in the green face. It just went down on it's own and i used terraforming bonuses to keep it that way.

Also, if u are a Dipolomat(if not just use the shield) u can use the Static Cling to freeze the ships and turrets and get there relation in the orange, and then neutral with the super happy ray. Once u are in the neutral give them gifts of money, and if u have been to the center of the galaxy, use the staff of life on their planet for an instant 100+ You should at least be in the blue if not the green. That help?

I did attack them while they invaded planets at random back near my home planet and allies; they ran off after I destroyed a ship.

However despite this I did get them to indifferent status with me.

However.... during completing one of their missions they started attacking me, and dispite the neutral status, they have not stopped attacking me.

Why is this happening?

While doing the missions I may have gone too deep into their territory. Is it hopeless now?

Can anyone help me?

Your problem is that you are treating them as a normal empire. BIG MISTAKE
The Grox are pure evil. They will always attack you when your in their territory, (even if your bestfriends with them) unless you ally with them. (also a big mistake.)

The best thing you can do is get level 10 badge-Omnipoent
Then Get your relation ship up to green-smily, but DON'T ALLY WITH THEM.
Or else the entire galaxy will go to war with you.

No. What Badge level are you, because if your to early in space stage then they like attacking you. Also, what's your relation ship level with them?

The best thing you can do is get level 10 badge-Omnipoent
Then Get your relation ship up to green-smily, but DON'T ALLY WITH THEM.
They should then only attack you when you are in their territory.

I am at badge 10, and looking to ally. They are indifferent but attacking me now.

I am a trader type of game play atm, so I don't see this ending any other way than to ally with them, run and buy off all the other nations so they will stop attacking me, and then call it a day and try the game as a warrior type.

I have no doubt that if after allying with the Grox that I would be able to, if it is possible at all, for me to end the war with money, as I have 50 million atm.

There is a message waiting form me from the Grox, but I am too far away, could this be a war declaration?

Is there a tip for answering these messages with out going too deep into their territory?

They are attacking me while I am orbiting their planets.

I can still get missions, and I am still neutral with them, but while I am in one of their systems I am under constant attacks by at least 1 ship or even 1 or 2 parsect away from one of their planets unless it is one of my own.

I am at their outer most reaches of their empire, so I don't know what is going on.

I just tried to make a mad dash for the middle to try and recived the message from their empire, but I couldn't get to it fast enough. I really wish I could get their message but I don't seem to be close enough to get it, or able to, as my travel distance quickly reduced down to 2 parsects and with the constant attacks for 4+ ships I don't last very long.

I am not saving it after I attempt these, FYI.

It's a common misconception that you need to be Omnipotent to ally the Grox, and you're wrong. You just need a sufficient enough interstellar drive (three, at least) to reach them.

Yes, you can from any point. Just be sure to start allying with them after you have all 10 ranks.

I have just allied with the Grox.

I first did a tone of missions, then placed embassies on their planets, used the happy ray, and them darringly made my way to their central most home planet! It was tough as I had to colonize planets as I went just to get a break from the constant hits. After I made my way there using 6 colonies, I used my Zealot power to take their central most home planet. This upped my relationship to blue. I then used trade routes, and a few more uses of my Zealot power, to get me to green and that was that.

I wish I had thought to terraform a planet for them, as thing probably would have gone smoother.

I have quickly found my 99,999,999 money to be very useful as every single race wants a peace of me. I am able to pay them off and quickly get them to ally between the bribes, terraforming, and happy rays. So switching back and forth between trader and zealot is not a bad tactic for this.

On the plus side I now know where about every race in the game is.
I also got the badge that counts the war declarations.

The only down side I see is the massive amounts of money I generally have to bring with me to ally the universe in some sort of peace. I have found that alliances tend to wear easier, so I have placed embassies on the home planet of every ally I make. This solves the problem.

Why not kill off the galaxy? Grox + Friends = War + Weapons = Destruction and conquering = Galaxy Ownage. I'm gonna take out the whole galaxy then raise all the Civ/Tribes.

A huge boost in relations for them involves blowing up planets nearby in neutral or alien controlled space(not the grox). This can give you a +50 boost if you do it all five times. I only did it three times, I think.
Now, also give them five gifts of 100,000. This gives you a +10, also helpful.
You also get a +10 for them meeting you as a gracious super power, I am not so sure what that is, but if you dont have it, you can still ally.
Once you reach the Blue smiley for them. Get 3 trade routes with 3 of their systems, this will get you a +30.
Now with this and other parts combined you should be able to get them into the green smiley, thus resulting in an alliance if you with.
Remember to never destroy their ships, steal their items, and anything else mean. They hate that alot.
Side effects of the alliance include the ENTIRE galaxy hating and going to war if you come into contact with any races. However, I rarely get attacked, and actually haven't gotten attacked at all so far, so possibly a fear AI factor.
Rewards include a nifty secret space badge,(The badge is Dance with the Devil.) and being allied with the most powerful race in the game, woot!

Also, the allied ship you get following you around is insanely buff.

I have quickly found my 99,999,999 money to be very useful as every single race wants a peace of me. I am able to pay them off and quickly get them to ally between the bribes, terraforming, and happy rays. So switching back and forth between trader and zealot is not a bad tactic for this.

On the plus side I now know where about every race in the game is.
I also got the badge that counts the war declarations.

The only down side I see is the massive amounts of money I generally have to bring with me to ally the universe in some sort of peace. I have found that alliances tend to wear easier, so I have placed embassies on the home planet of every ally I make. This solves the problem.

i hear you get a -400 penalty for allying with the grox, i think that makes it impossible to stay allies, because the highest you can get it with no penalties is still lower than that(what is it anyways, 250?)

It is -200. And it is not impossible to stay allies with others.

You just need to max them out.

Bribe, Get one of their colonized planets to T3, Mega Happy Ray, Trades, Embassies, Missions. That should do it even with the -200 to make them ally.

I left my autoturret on while visiting them for a mission. My turret shot the scout escorting me once, and they now shoot me whenever I come in their systems. Even while neutral (almost blue faced). On another game, they asked me to scan a planet or something, and they sent fighters SHOOTING AT ME while I was doing that. Once that happened, I gave up (and since this was my super-happy-fun-cheat-code-account) I blew the fighters up...and some of their colonies up with a gravitation wave...and maybe some planet-busters...

This makes it so when you first contact the Grox they will allow you to talk to them.

Then run around their planets using the Super Happy Beam, this makes them happy as well, and its possible to get a +20 or +30 (in some cases) relations boost with them if you use this "friendly tool".
A huge boost in relations for them involves blowing up planets nearby in neutral or alien controlled space(not the grox). This can give you a +50 boost if you do it all five times. I only did it three times, I think.
Now, also give them five gifts of 100,000. This gives you a +10, also helpful.
You also get a +10 for them meeting you as a gracious super power, I am not so sure what that is, but if you dont have it, you can still ally.
Once you reach the Blue smiley for them. Get 3 trade routes with 3 of their systems, this will get you a +30.
Now with this and other parts combined you should be able to get them into the green smiley, thus resulting in an alliance if you with.
Remember to never destroy their ships, steal their items, and anything else mean. They hate that alot.
Side effects of the alliance include the ENTIRE galaxy hating and going to war if you come into contact with any races. However, I rarely get attacked, and actually haven't gotten attacked at all so far, so possibly a fear AI factor.
Rewards include a nifty secret space badge,(The badge is Dance with the Devil.) and being allied with the most powerful race in the game, woot!

Also, the allied ship you get following you around is insanely buff.

Some other notes.
Having a Grox ship in your fleet is like having the powers of God with you.
You can trade with the Grox and buy their planets, thus having the ability to construct Grox buildings when you buy the planet, since you will have a grox city now. You can build with non-ascessible items in a sense.

Its also possilbe to have even better relations with the Grox, supposedly if you have a very long alliance with them.
This hasnt been fully proved yet though.

Nope. Once at war, that's it for the rest of that game. The only way to stop it is to destroy every last Grox world. They control about 2400 systems with 1-3 colonised planets each. Good luck.

Actually, religious would be easier to ally with the Grox (although I did it as a scientist) as Fanatical Frenzy breaks the Galactic Code, which should help you with your allying. If you don't want to wait for a recharge, save, exit to main menu and reload.

It actually should only take you an hour or so if you have interstellar drive 4 or 5, super happy ray, Gravitation Wave/Fanatical Frenzy and a few million spucks.

Are you at war with them? As in ACTUAL war, with them attacking your planets? If so, you can't ally with them. Full stop. If you want to ally the Grox, you must do absolutely nothing to annoy them. Let them destroy you time and time again if that's how it works out, just don't fire back on their ships, turn off your Auto-Blaster, get rid of any allied ships, and stay OFF their planets if at all possible.

First time that you meet them, you'll be at -70 (or -60 if you have Gracious Greeting, gained from being Friendly in Tribal Stage). You can reduce this by 50 points if you break the Galactic Code (use Planet Busters, Gravitation Wave and/or Fanatical Frenzy) FIVE times on any non-Grox planet within 10 parsecs of their systems. Introducing yourself to and doing missions for them will take this down by another 65 points, bringing you to +45 (or +55 if you have Gracious Greeting). Gift them with 100K Sporebucks a few times to get a further +10 and use the Happy Ray (preferably the Super one, otherwise the Medium will do) until you get another +30. You can now ally with them.

You can also skip using the Happy Ray and gifting them if you set up trade routes with Grox systems and let the benefits of that stack, which also add up to +30. It takes longer, but you don't have to spend as much cash on the gifts and Energy Packs to refuel after using the Happy Ray.

Yes you can and here's how:

Grox start at -70. Introduce yourself (+10), gift them several times (+10) and agree to do missions for them (+5).

Grox now at -45. Drop an Embassy (+10), do several missions (+50) and use the Super Happy Ray on them (+30).

Grox now at +45. Establish three trade routes to cut down the time and wait for a while (+30).

Grox now at +75. You can ally them now. No need for breaking the Galactic Code or Gracious Greeting.

Second: I am not trying to ally with them, i am just trying to get them to green so they won't attack me any more.

I could have allied them with a special mission when the embassies were worth +10.

Did it drop AFTER you put down the second Embassy? If so, that may have caused it. Or they might have destroyed the one you did put down - they'll do that given enough time. As to the introduction, you should ALWAYS pick the first option.

Oh yeah, and Grox will ALWAYS attack you until you are allied with them. Sorry, but that's just the way it goes.

I just allied with the Grox. Everyone and their brother went to war with me, yeah, but all it takes to stop it is handing them three million dollars. That takes me to a +35 - then I offer cash, help the planet, do the trade route thing and before you know it, everyone is so far off my back I don't have to worry about anyone attacking me unless it's the pirates or someone I don't know, yet.

It took me all day to do it, though. What a pain those wacky Grox folks are, huh?

Here's a cheaper way to ally with empires once you've done so to the Grox:

A. Find a large empire around you. The bigger the better, as that will allow you more trade opertuninities and a stronger ally (then you'll be able to afford bribing, or you could just destroy them).

B. Find a T0 planet that they have colonised, and use 1 charge of a SoL on them (you should be able to get them as allies of the Grox, because you're granted free entry to the galactic core).

C. Assuming they started on -200, they should now be on -100 (+100 for 'Helping our planet). Now use your super happy ray (which you should have if you allied with the Grox, medium happy ray is fine too but more dangerous). Use it on one of their cities until you have a +50 bonus for 'Using freindly items'. You will now be on -50, with the war over.

D. Now you can do missions until it reaches another +100. You'll now be on +60 (you'll also get +10 for 'agreeing to help us). You can either gift them a few times (up to +50 more), start a trade route(up to 30 [40 for trader empires]), do some trading (buy or sell items to them, up to 15 I think), add an embassy (up to +50) or if you're lucky they'll gift you and you'll get a bonus for 'We value your friendship'.

Remember to keep your autoturret off so you don't make the relationship even worse.

actually, it is impossible to destroy them. litterally. there are "impossible to reach" planets in their wide area, these of which in turn can never be destroyed, keeping the grox alive and well. also, i allied them and my entire arm of the galaxy had transmissions crowding it. and i friended one of my other games cause its huge

I couldn't be bothered to look at all the posts in this topic, but while using my Bard to get on the Grox's good side, I decided to try using my Soothing Song just to see what would happen since it's kinda like the happy ray (weird music XD).

Yes it is possible, you have to go to war with the people you want to stay allies with, and then offer them money to end the war and all the negative things will go away except "We were at war" which is much less than the "You allied the Grox" of 200.

You obviously haven't been paying enough attention. You'll get 'Incoming transmission from the Grox' twice before they attack you. I've tried it 4 times and every time it's been like that.

I hate that I can't trade with them. The Grox are the one ally I actually try to retain good standing with. I wipe out all other allies after I've used them for what I need. It takes more to ally the Grox than any other empire, give us some trading love!

If you collonise a planet near the center and fight the grox when you die you will be on that planet making in much easier to kill them. i have half their planets destroyed. however it makes it realy hard to return to home planet in case of emergancy. I also uplifted a few species at the center of the galaxy so i have some allies their to.

P.S. to the guy who posted above me. if you terraform their planets to 1 2 or 3 they will die. you cannot decrease it for them in other words they wont care if you make it worse terrascore but if you make it to 1 2 or 3 whey will hate you.

Actually, neither, because the Grox can only live on T-0 planets, and since there already on a T-0 planet, there would be no way to bring the Terra Score down, but there is changing an ice planet into a lava planet, or the other way around, but I have never tried that on a Grox planet. But in my opinion, it would probably have the same effect on the relationship score, so I would not try it.

Repairs & recharges are expensive, you are better off carrying repair and charge packs.
Buying planetary systems is usually cheap when trade routes mature. I usually pay 1,000,000 each. I save beforehand and then reload & offer more if necessary. I think that I have bought over 200 systems and only paid more than 1,000,000 on two occasions. I think that both those systems had storybook planets in them.

Other than the above, the Grox don't sell anything.

By the way, let this be evidence that you can screw up allying with the Grox real quickly. I've been trying for the past few days to get them to like me. They keep destroying my Embassies and while some of the numbers do eventually go down (for both good and bad) is there any hope for this? Interestingly, even the -50 for being at war seems to have gone. Keep playing for another five-six hours and check again. Let your colonies be overrun instead of fighting for them, or drop Uber-Turrets so that you don't have to shoot the Grox ships.

Although they may appear to destroy the embassy, the relationship can go up. It's also best to put it down once all the Grox ships have been killed by the atmosphere (although that could take some time).

From reading parts of this thread it says that Grox can only live on T0 planets..... so does that mean that they cannot attack T1,T2 and T3 planets??? I don't have 1.04...

As I suggested, perhaps its best to just fly around until their ships die? Or alternately you could quickly leave the system before the embassy is destroyed... That might work.

Wow this thread is EXTREMELY long. Anyway, I have to agree with everyone else, this is a GREAT thread. Good job TAoD! I have a few questions, though.
1) If you manage to destroy the Grox, when you make other Space stage files, are the grox gone in that file, too?
2) Although this may sound irrelevant at first, read the rest of my post and you'll understand. What happens if your homeworld is taken over and you don't have it anymore? Do you lose the game?
3) What happens if you take over another empire's homeworld, say the Grox's?

I'd say a cool idea would be to ALMOST ally the Grox, then buy off some of their planets very close to the center of the galaxy until you get a large empire, get a whole lot of money stockpiled, then ally them and let the whole galaxy go to war with you, with the Grox being a large, almost inpenetrable shell around you. Let them destroy your colonies near the starting position, and just stay inside your Grox shell until either a) they forget about your alliance with the Grox (if they ever do, which i've heard they do) or b) you feel like going outside your shell and start building arms out of the Grox to take over the galaxy!! Of course, leaving the Grox between your main empire and the arms built out of them.
Also, they really should make the Grox badges ACHIEVEMENTS. They're hard to do! Much more so than beating Cell stage, which is an achievement somehow.

actually, yes. All save files share a galaxy, so if you destroy the Grox in one they stay destroyed for all. It's the same for anything else in the galaxy.

Unfortunatley, as much as i love the grox... Literally ALL of the other empires will hate you with -50 rating. And once you go in their terratory you most likeley will make it red with the auto blaster.

Hey there is a mod that wont change any rating once you ally with the grox, and if you beat the grox, all empires want to ally with you.

I'm attempting to destroy the grox at the moment... Its not gonna be easy, but its gonna be possible.

I tried to ally with the grox, but when I used the super happy ray, they took away 60 relationship points for "scaring their citizens"! If they are afraid of a heppy ray I'll give em something to be afraid of!(I completely destroyed their empire)

If you destroy their home world( about 11 parsecs from the center of the galaxy) they wont attack you as often. aAn easy way to get to the center is when your health is down, pause, hold ctrl shift c, and enter "refillmotives" it will recharge your energy and health. also pausing let's you look around to find a solar system that you can fly to.

go around the galactic core looking for civs closer than 10 parsecs, otherwise the grox won't know about it. also get trade routes, use happy rays but be careful how low you fly, give gifts, and most importantly, DON"T BLOW UP THEIR SHIPS TURN OFF YOUR AUTO TURRET!

Ironically i blew up another planet with a Planet Buster but this time it was 14 (insted of 10) parsecs away (it took ages finding another one that was close enough that didnt hate me) and it worked. I musta been a bug or something cause i tried a lot until it worked.

Actually, the galactic code isn't blowing up friendly plants, it's just blowing up planets, period. You can blow up enemy planets and still break the galactic code.

The maximum number of planets you should have to blow up is four. Breaking the Galactic Code once gets you a +14 relationship boost with the Grox, twice is +28, three times is +42 and four times is +50. After that you can blow up as many planets as you like and it makes no difference.

There seems to be some disagreement about whether or not an embassy works. It definitely does but it just takes a little while to happen. If you mouse over the embassy icon in trade it says something like 'increases your relationship with their empire over time'. You just have to wait a bit.

Once you reach the Blue smiley for them. Get 3 trade routes with 3 of their systems, this will get you a +30.
Now with this and other parts combined you should be able to get them into the green smiley, thus resulting in an alliance if you with.
Remember to never destroy their ships, steal their items, and anything else mean. They hate that alot.
Side effects of the alliance include the ENTIRE galaxy hating and going to war if you come into contact with any races. However, I rarely get attacked, and actually haven't gotten attacked at all so far, so possibly a fear AI factor.
Rewards include a nifty secret space badge,(The badge is Dance with the Devil.) and being allied with the most powerful race in the game, woot!

Also, the allied ship you get following you around is insanely buff.

Some other notes.
Having a Grox ship in your fleet is like having the powers of God with you.
You can trade with the Grox and buy their planets, thus having the ability to construct Grox buildings when you buy the planet, since you will have a grox city now. You can build with non-ascessible items in a sense.

Its also possilbe to have even better relations with the Grox, supposedly if you have a very long alliance with them.
This hasnt been fully proved yet though.

Easy to do... IF you still want to be allied with someone when you ally with the Grox, before you do, terraform (without placing plant and animals) all of those people's planets to t3. You get a +100 relation.

That's half pf the minus 200 allying with the grox gives you.

Then if you already have an alliance with them you should still have one after allying with the Grox...

Yeah, it's expensive, but I don't care about cash, defeat is more expensive than any bomb, including the big ones that destroy planets.
And since the Grox have such a huge empire, you can actually use code-breaking tactics against them some of their planets, since they are way beyond 10 parsecs of any other empire in many spots.

When I going to fight the Grox, I disband any allied ships. They don't usually last long, even when they are level 5 and you have maxed health.

I can't think of any benefit from befriending the grox, other than the badge.

MithranArkanere thats how I use to fell the fleet ships they got destroyed way to easly and they dont really help but thats no thats not true get my allis are the strongest empires in the galixy when you start spore the only strong empire is the grox but you can help other empires along the path to power by helping them take over other planits the bigger the empire the stronger there ships and the stronger the ships they send you my fleet consists of the grox fleet ship and four other ships with 1800 hp each. it is way over kill the ships that go shoot at you in space last for a bout 1 secent each and when a fleet attack one of your planits one secent 6 ships are there the next they are not.

You can trade with the Grox and buy their planets, thus having the ability to construct Grox buildings when you buy the planet, since you will have a grox city now. You can build with non-ascessible items in a sense.

Its also possilbe to have even better relations with the Grox, supposedly if you have a very long alliance with them.
This hasnt been fully proved yet though.

I think you could get both Badge Outta Heck and Dance with the Devil. You could follow the procedure for allying with the Grox, then establish trade routes with them. Do this on 5 Grox systems at a time, and eventually buy the systems and strat trade routes with new Grox systems. Slowly but surely, the Grox will be wiped out. But you need a lot of money(about 400 billion Spucks total) to eventually buy off the systems.

Can you get your old allies back - I used the planet buster and it changed all allies into enemies, but it wasn't that hard to get everyone back as allies anyway.

I totally hate the Grox and just want to avoid them, but since the mission won't go away, you can't even delete - I'd rather ally. Keep getting conquerer stuff just because when I finally have to fight, I destroy the empire so they won't keep hassling me. With money mainly.

Dumb question, I get the rest, but how do you send your allies home?

ive failed there misssions all the time and never got any negative for failing missions.... i just have the -70 distrust of strangers something tells me it mioght have to do with the fact im rank 7 and they probably ewxpected me to fail anyway but then again thats a good thing meaning if you can contact them before 10 do it... also how do you blow up planets

you can in fact have relationships so high that they will not join the rest of the galaxy in hating you, you can in theory also get ones that hate you to join you and the grox, I currently have three ships as allies and hope to gain the full fleet before finishing the game

DO NOT READ ANY OF THESE UNLESS YOU HAVE REACHED THE CENTRE OF THE GALAXY IT WILL RUIN EVERYTHING OTHERWISE!!!!! .I just bought the Spore Prima Game Guide book and you can either get the 'Dancing With The Devil' badge if you ally or if you defeat every Grox you can get the 'Badge Outta Heck' badge. I conquered all the empires around my home planet and over time got all the badges and 99 on repair packs, energy packs and the rest, I also got the wormhole key (which I suspect most of you know about) and traveled through many wormholes and eventually ended up about 30-50 planets away from the 'Galactic Core' after that I jumped from planet to planet and soon got to the 'Galactic Core'. Once there I entered and recieved the 'Staff of Life' BUT YOU CAN ONLY USE IT 42 TIMES! and how many Grox star systems are there and how many planets are in the star systems!. So once I left the centre of the Galaxy I killed the Grox on the nearest planetand destroyed their ship, people and cities, so they hated me. So if you start a new game you can either spend time nowwhere near the Grox and get your medals and badges and then ally with the Grox like the sensible people below or go my way and spend the next few years trying to kill the Grox becuase I tried many different ways to make them my friends but go nowhere as the relationship status stayed on -655.

You know you could make another character to ally the Grox with. Everything carries over so in theory you could ally the grox on one game and buy out all their empires nearby your other game. Just recently on a new save I just stayed in my comestar cluster. As soon as I got omnipotent and FF5 I headed down to encounter the grox. One of my allies died (Sadffaice) and I am currently decideing wheither or not to go to war with the grox.

P.S. It's not impossible to allie every race in the galaxy icluding the grox! Just pay off the war and allie like you usually would! Great for when you don't want to have to fight or if you want to be able to travel anywhere in the galaxy freely with there always being a place to stop and refill on energy.

3. No, if you destroy them in one game they'll be gone in all of them.

this was to long, so im not sure if it was answered or not, but split personality is if you meet certain requirements, go onto missions, and click 'teach me to be like you' or something. They will then test you to make sure you are worthy of their archetype. E.g. 10 alliances for diplomat.

If you have a +150 relationship with your allies they will become neutral or so with you. If you have a +200 the relationship usually doesn't change and they are still your allies. I don't know how to keep your allies from attacking each other. But I hope that helped

I'm at war with the Grox, majorly. I'm almost -800 with them heeheehee. But that doesn't stop me. If you have already destroyed a system of theirs....then an alliance may be out of the question. Grox relationships always start w/ -70 or more and if you go past that, I don't know if you still can. If you are -100 or more, definitely kill them;they hate you

I've allied with the Grox. Many people think they are REALLY powerful. I agree with them for the most part. After I got my weapons, health ect. maxed out, I really thought the Grox were puny compared to my empire. But that's just me.

i dont think its possible to achive galactic peace becauuse alot of spode followers, grox, pirates, and hostile from the beggining empires however if it is possible then i would love to know how because im tired of not being able to help my allies becuase im allied with everyone (except the grox) therefore not leting me intervene in a fight. i have however converted around 42 star systems with the space zealot power (fanatical frenzy) and i think im just gonna convert all of thier star systems to me btw dont use fanatical freny on anyone else becuae u will lose alliences when u do

actually it's pretty much 100% and if you do ally, It really isn't that bad. Most empires (the smart ones) hold off their attacks because they are afraid of you. Other empires (the dumb ones) sometimes try to attack you but usually they don't even last 3 seconds.

I recommend all of you to ally. It is very healthy for your empire. And if you're that worried about attacks, just colonize places in Grox territory.

The Grox may own a bunch of stars by the core but in between a lot of those stars there are uncolonized perfectly terrascored planets. Nobody even enters Grox territory. if they do, they won't make it to your colonies. Keep your empire under the shelter of the Grox if you're that worried. Don't be. Allying with the Grox is the right thing to do. Plus, you can destroy the Grox by purchasing all of their systems! If you have the Trader archetype, this should go very smoothly for you!

So go on! Ally! It's best for your empire!

Oh almost forgot to metion! The Grox to me are the most highly recommended allies. Here's why:

1. They never call you for eco disasters because they live on T0 planets
2. They are all powerful and you can have them launch a HUGE invasion on an enemy planet
3. They never ask for help even when an enemy attacks them, they usually can handle it themselves (no-one even attacks them anyway. It would be suicide if they did!)
4. The Grox have awesome cities which you can buy from them.
5. They don't care if you use the religous weapon on them (forget what it's called)
6. You get a secret badge just for allying with them
7. They will let you cross to the core
8. They are awesome

Most of my empire is intertwined with the Grox empire. so nobody ever attacks me. yeah and so far i have converted like 50 of their stars and they don't even care. i guess cause it breaks the galactic code. another cool thing about the grox is that when u convert their systems u get to keep all of the buildings even though its a T0 planet. thats why i convert most of the inner planets because they have cool buildings.

I remember reading somewhere that if you take over the planet by purchasing the system, the colony keeps the Grox technology, allowing you to buy it from there.

I believe that's what people are referring to by trading with them outside of the trade-routes.

it is hard unless you have a lot of money. when your allies go to war with you for allying with the grox you can give them 3,000,000 dollars and they will be friends with you or at least neutral and the deduction for allying the grox will be gone.

Look for a power 4 or a power 5 empire and make a real good smile with 'em. Then look into your missions tab and in there should be a mission that will change your achtype. After that you get the badge. (this helps if you want to be a zealot to break the Galactic Code and get points for it with the Grox)

When i allied the Grox, I abandoned all my colonies and started a new base inside Grox territory. Sadly, I spent too long working on it and all the small empires surrounding the Grox grew to massive size and now I can't get out of Grox land.

Ive done that! It was the most fun I've had in spore!!! And it's even easier if you ask the Gris to attack the homeworlds while you burn the colonies! Grox are great to have around but your always wary of them loosing interest. Then you'll be left with everything at war with you. Although, I could take the Grox down and replace them with my much more fearsome race of knights!

Thanks for the help. I've allied the Grox already, and they're a great ally. I love how you get to be the most powerful race in the galaxy alongside them. I already shares the Galactic Core with them and we blockade each other from attackers. I got to the Galactic Core as well without them killing me so it's great to ally them. I also got to form a trade route with the homeworld closest to the Galactic Core. I have to admit it's the most fun I've ever had on Spore. Going to war with them takes about four weeks, unlike this allying only takes about a day. It's also good because you'll be the biggest and most feared race with them, and you can span your empire on all of the arms and in the core so it's extremely hard for enemies to destroy you. Who will stop the Lobus and Grox empire now?! Hahaha!

In my scenerio with the Grox....I am at war with them and I took Vulvia the closest star systm to the core. I do not have interstellar drive....I planet hopped and destroyed or took over star systems to get to the middle. It was expensive. I only seem to be attacked by the Grox at Volvia. Which is nice because with every attack I make I push outward from the center slowly taking them out. The war is not over but there is a sizable dent getting bigger!

On another note....its too bad we can download content but not team up and have pvp wars.....it would be interresting....
