Wow there's so much feedback here, so many good ideas, it's too bad this is Spore we're talking about. In the end they're going to release the same crap they dreamed up sometime around patch1. A minimal effort, dumbed down in complexity so 7 years old kids can enjoy it while we scratch our heads wondering what the heck were they thinking, and why did we just give them more money for this crap? Well, you will anyway. I learned my lesson that the pore team is not worthy of my trust or my money. They pulled a bait and switch with what was promised and delivered, and they still blatantly fail to fix the simple 'crash leaving homeworld' bug that's still listed in the master help thread as it has been since before patch one. They don't bother to fix it. They don't even try. So you think they're listening to your game design suggestions here? Ha what a joke. Seriously, you should all be boycotting this game's expansions like me and many other who were burned. The Maxis team are liars and thieves, worthy only of our scorn and not another dime of our money.

Each spice has an in-game description of it's use, and it appears to be all about cooking. The Dune reference is obvious, but spice in the spore game is not used as fuel. The star wars reference is a little more apt I suppose, but like I said according to the game it's all about flavoring.

Dear Maxis,
Spore crashes when I leave my home planet. The Reason is because the game's automatic city decorating doesn't know when to stop auto-generating. It makes so many things that the extras hide underneath city hall in a giant pile that causes the game to crash.
This info was posted in this thread before patch #1, and we tried to call your attention to it when you somehow missed it. Patch #2 came out and you still failed to fix it. Now a third patch has been released and you still haven't fixed it.
Please act like professionals and add this bug to your list of things to fix in patch #4. It would probably take the least competent programmer on your team 10 minutes to fix this. Your failure to fix this bug three times should be bitterly embarrassing to you all, if you care at all about your reputations as professionals. Stop failing and start fixing, please.
- A person who bought your game and will likely never buy another

Hey eculc, you want me to stop complaining about being ripped off by the dumbed down spore? Send me $110 to reimburse me for the two copies I bought for my wife and I. That's the very least you could do to get me to be quite about being ripped off. Do you want to do that? Maybe you should just be quite and let the adults talk.
As for Will Wright apologizing...he didn't. Not even close. He only took responsibility for ruining Spore.
Anyone know where to sign up for the three class action lawsuits that are going against EA and Maxis now because of this? I want in. I want my money back with interest.

My game still crashes when I leave my homeworld and this is what Maxis is working on? Disgusting.

Thank Will. No actually this is way too little too late. You are listening closely to what the players want eh? Then why after two patches does my game still crash when I leave the homeworld? It's a box of lies. Disgusting. It's been nearly three months since I bought Spore (2 copies) and the damage is done and will be very very hard to undo. As for Will's taking responsibility for the dumbing down of spore, yeah great. Golf clap. Good job there from the guy who made sim-earth, which I also bought. I won't be buying any expansions for Spore. You blew it. As for Will's entire message, maybe if this had been posted six weeks ago things would be way different. But six weeks later I'm bitter and feeling nothing but ripped off for my money. And I haven't even touched spore in a month.

I think we should get back to rabbling.
(grabs a garden hoe to wave angrily)
Rabble! Rabble Rabble! RABBLE!

Wait, does inverted y-axis mean you move the mouse up to look down, and down to look up? If so, that's silly. You should break that habit as it's just an unnatural holdover from the early days of flight-sim games. Seriously, it's a monkey on your back. You are not flying a plane, and when you move up you should look up. It's common sense.

As someone who has purchased several EA games in the past, I want people to know that I am a new convert to the people who refuse to buy anything from EA ever again. Spore did that to me. Good job EA. Bad choice of business partners Will Wright. I hold you equally responsible.

I think it's really funny how they think all curse words should be substituted with SPORE, as if that was the mightiest of them all. Precognition? In the future when someone stubs a toe will they yell out 'Spore!'?
Personally if it was up to me I'd have used something that made more sense, like the word 'dirt' or '@#$%!' (like in the game) but hey if they want their game's name to be synonymous with all profanity, maybe they were thinking ahead.

I think it's apparent by now that this whole Spore thing is a sinking ship that's going down fast. EA is going for all the money they can get in the short time that's left before this game becomes universally reviled.

Yes, exactly. Good luck with that.

Backup. Uninstall. Reinstall.
Great fix.
(golf clap)
I think they could do better though. Really.
