It is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off!
Well, it was accurate, until they decided to delay again... :( your issue of GameInformer was probably just printed shortly before the delay was announced.

i agree, space stations like what you're talking about would be awesome (look at my signature, too!). they could have done so much more with spore. i saw an E3 video a while ago, and it looked awesome, but when i finally got it, it turns out that they took out a heck of a lot (i.e. dumbed it down... :( )...

Might i suggest something: try to ally the grox first, so you can get the badge for allying with them. then, after you get that badge, turn on them and kick the ©rap out of them. Also, you don't have to bomb their cities or anything; all you have to do is terraform their planet to at least lvl 1 and it completely removes them from the planet... i don't remember where i picked up that little bit of information, but it's helpful :D
Oh, and like Quakor101 said, don't waste all of your Staffs of Life on the Grox, use them on things worth while (i.e. terraforming planets with valuable spice. you can go here for some info on spice, and other space stage tips: http://forum.spore.com/jforum/posts/list/2335.page). Its just easy (and less of a waste) to just use the Freeze Ray, Cloud accumulator, etc. on the planets.

still, as i was saying in response to Foedawg: the people who play Spore are creating buildings without getting paid. Why? because we like doing it.

Have you ever seen a glitch that made you go
Yeah, i had a glitch that made me go :schock: ... i accidentally got an asymetry glitch in creature creator. i apologize i have no picture proof, but i can describe what happened...
I was in the creature creator outside of an actual game (so i went to the menu, then "create," then creature creator) and i intended to make a creature with some slug-like eyes, you know, on stalks. so i was using arms to make the stalks, and i was using the scroll button to beef up the stalks. i was feeling silly for a second, so i maxed it out, and then accidentally moved them into the middle of the body, so there was only one stalk now. then, when i separated it, the left arm was still beefy, and the right arm was all skinney. i was shocked, so i put it back together and then took them apart again (without even thinking... which i now regret... cuz i have no screenshot of it  ), but the second try did not produce the same result. when i hit the undo button, it reproduced the asymetry, but i went back too far and ended up screwing the whole thing up... i haven't had the same thing happen to me since then, but i've been messing around in the creator trying to produce the same result... if i do, i'll be sure to take a screen shot this time lol
EDIT: oh i almost forgot, "have you ever killed an epic without losing any of the other creatures that were in your pack or at your nest or where ever you killed the epic at (have you killed an epic without losing allies in the process)? I have"

Foedawg wrote:Wouldn't a money-less world just halt our development? What satisfaction do you get from creating a building without getting money?
rotflol the answer is in the game that these threads are about!!! people creat buildings all the time in here! do they get paid? no. they are doing it because they are doing what they love doing. here's a way a moneyless (i dont really care if that's not a word heheheh) world could possibly work:
People who love to do things like build bildings or study physics (scientists) or what ever would be able to do that. Look at the Renaissance Era. Galileo wasn't getting paid to study astronomy. Leonardo wasn't getting paid to paint pictures (ok well he probably was, but why do you think he started painting? he wanted to.) So buildings would be build and what not. Average people would probably either become smarter or dumber (people who want to live better lives will become smarter; people who want everything handed to them are already dumb, and will remain so...). The ones who would become smarter would do so because they would want to advance to be able to do what ever would please them. They wouldn't be doing something to survive, they would be doing something to have fun. My point is supported further by youtube. People aren't getting paid to make those videoes. they are doing it because that's what they like doing, and they are satisfied when they get views. It's like a little victory in their lives. In a moneyless society, people would be more focused on what would make them happy. they would have to work a little bit to get to that happiness. there would be pleanty of kinks to work out, but in the end, i think it would work out pretty well if it was thought out good enough.

It's basically the part of a black hole where if any sort of matter (or light or whatever) goes past it, aforementioned matter is essentailly screwed...

There is a really easy way to get asymetry in the vehicle creators without having to download any silly mods or anything:
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ilbFdilv54
Creation: http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=advasrch-Asymetry%2520For%2520dummies%3Afi-NAME%3Afu-CREATURE%2CTRIBE_CREATURE%2CCIV_CREATURE%2CSPACE_CREATURE%2CCITY_HALL%2CHOUSE%2CINDUSTRY%2CENTERTAINMENT%2CUFO%3Am-LAND%2CAIR%2CWATER%3Ap-MILITARY%2CECONOMIC%2CCULTURAL%2CCOLONY%3Aidx-20 (This is the creation that i got the youtube video from)
MAJOR LEAGUE THANKS TO THE GUY WHO FOUND THIS!! i use it a lot now, and i'm trying to tell everyone i can so they can all use it, too.

i can't wait... this looks amazing. I've been wanting to put all my creations into a story like it seems we'll be able to, which is going to make Spore just that much funner! I'm so happy we'll finally be able to see our buildings up close and with some detail. Can't wait!!!

Nuthen wrote:i cant figure out how to do this on a windows vista comp
I have a vista comp and here is what i do:
1. Make a shortcut on your desktop.
2. Right-click it and go to properties.
3. Go to the line labeled "target". it should say something like this: "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin\SporeApp.exe"
4. After the last quotation mark, type this in (without the quotation marks, and actually put in a space instead of typing [space]): "[space]-state:celleditor" if you want the cell editor, or "[space]-state:floraeditor" if you want the plant editor. The result should be something that looks like this:
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin\SporeApp.exe" -state:celleditor
5. Hit OK and then double click the icon. It won't regularly open Spore (opening cinematic and stuff), instead instead it will bring you directly into the cell or flora editor. Make your creation, then hit the green check mark and it'll show you the opening cinematic and bring you to the main screen as usual.
In the cell editor, there are extra parts you can add on. just flip through the pages.
The flora editor is pretty buggy, and basicaly doesn't even work. I'd just stay out of it.
In both creators, the creations you make will NOT be pollinated in your game. The stuff from the cell editor will show up in your sporepedia, but to my knowledge, it won't show up in your game (which basically makes doing this pointless lol)
If you want to regularly open spore again (not go into the editors at the start), you can open up the shortcut's properties again, go to the Target line, and just delete the " -state:celleditor" part. then it will open normally again.
I got this information from here: http://sporebase.com/cheats.html

Sorry for redirecting you to my new, custom website, but it was getting a bit confusing here on this page (even though no one was viewing it lol). So, that's where everything will be getting posted now. I might not be updating frequently since I have other things that take priority over Spore (of course), so bear with me if it's not completely up to date.

HELLOOOOO ITS A GAME ,suck its up and have some fun
We get that it's just a game, but if people are being complete J***A**es and downrating creations that are actually good, i think that's reason to be upset. and to everyone who is saying we should keep the downrating system because people just make crappy, 3-piece, untextured things for getting the achivements, i agree with you, but it should be a seperate system -- instead of a rating, there should be like a 'spam' or 'flag' button, where you can submit your reasoning for wanting to get rid of the creation. that goes to Maxis, they can give the account a warning, and if they get too many, then *BAM* account ban.
