Decent list, Definately a time saver to just throw your small/medium/large plants onto the ground (note: not the water) to save time rather than beaming them down.

Recycle your animals by just picking them right back up again, (placing omni/carnivores away from your herbivore is good if you beam down all three)

BEST way to find something on a planet that you want to Scoop/Beam back up is to select it in the FoodWeb. Your radar will now point you to them, siphon them up til you have however many you want. Works with plants and animals.

The reason I looked in the forum is the trouble I've had maintaining a Red/Blue planet's T status...
Plants aren't enough, Animal's aren't enough, a built up to max Colony DID stabilize a planet for me though.

I'll try alternate plants when I have time to futz around with my onboard samples
