Hmm... it downloads in the game no problem, then pops up a box that says the patch cannot be applied at this time... and I do not have a EADM Cache folder.

Edit: Disregard, found the file, but it is taking a lot of time and resources to apply it . Hangs at every step of the patching process and is eating my memory...

For those folks who can access the game and single player content, but cannot log in within the game or access the online content of Sporepedia, here is a possible fix for you that worked for me (copied from another thread I made):

Okay guys, this is going to sound weird, but bear with me on this...

I had a problem where once I got into the game I would get the message: "Spore is unable to connect to the internet an the Spore Server. Please check your internet connection blah blah blah...". I could not interface with the Spore server and could only play offline.

I fixed this, and it was not my router or hardware, or drivers or anything else within my PC. It was the game.

So this is the part where you have to bear with me . On the main Spore menu, you have your saved planets and down on the bottom left is the register button, considering you are offline. When you click on "register" it brings up a quick log-in menu and then hits you with the message I put above about no internet connection then shuts the menu down and puts you back at the main screen. Here is the part where you have to be quick and persistant... when the log in menu appears you can see a log in button in the top right of the screen (if I remember right) and then the error message pops up and blocks it (about a 1-2 second delay for the message). If you can catch that log in button before the message pops up, it will let you log in. At least it did for me. Took me about 8-10 tries, but I finally caught it, logged in, and connected to the Spore server.

Now my problem is fixed... and everytime I start the game, I am connected. I know a lot of folks, especially Killalz, had the same problem I did. I am not guaranteeing that this will work for you, but it did for me. I hope this helps you all out... good luck.
EA announced today that they are relaxing their DRM rules for Spore since we have been complaining about it:

Next patch will relax rules and allow you to install it on a number of PC's.
stnikolaus wrote:I'm having many of the same problems. A help ticket opened on 9/10 for Creature Creator has yet to be addressed. I installed the Trial Version easily, and was able to upload content. I purchased the full version of the Creature Creator, and could not access anything online anymore.

When I try to Login, it tells me

The code for this installation is invalid and cannot be used to link this product to your account.

Then when I try to Login again, I get the message

You do not have the proper spore.com privilege to access the online feature.

In a truely astonishing example of pathetic customer service, I've yet to hear ANYTHING, from ANYBODY that is involved with Spore and/or EA tech support. If I had spent $50+ on the full game, I'd be much more upset than I am now. Now it just appears that I will not spend any more money on EA games. I feel bad for the people who are out that money, and not just the $10 for Creature Creator. I love the concept involved here, and I'm seriously jonesing to play the game. But I don't want to risk the money and time involved with the high probability of failure.

Worst case, wait a few months for the main release bugs to be fixed. Hopefully they are fixed by that time...
I must be missing something simple on this, but how do you get pictures of your creations into your signature block when posting on this forum?

Thanks ahead of time.
Is this an issue with downloaded versions of the game, or is your version store bought?
I tried to visit that Gamespy article and it would not show up, odd...
Are you able to even get into the single player version fo the game? If you are then you might have had the same problem I did, this is from a post I put here a while ago:

Sorry if are having a different problem than I did, but I did not see many details in your post and I had also tried all the same stuff you did.
Uh oh, this was relegated to the second page.

Bump for justice!
Bump for justice... keep this in their face...

Also, patch the space stage already!
When EXACTLY do you get this error message? For me my internet problems was when I was already in game... if that is the case then check my post titled: "Internet Problems: Possible Fix". This might help you if you were having the same problem as me.
Wow, sorry to hear that. Too bad you cannot correct it yourself and have to actually deal with EA ...
Lenuxe,

if you cannot browse the Sporepedia, then that sounds like a completely different problem. Are you able to log in at all? Or connect to the Spore server at all?

Might have to try a complete reinstall if your Sporepedia is inop.
Your issue is a totally different issue from mine, Aggie. Mine was just having problems "getting" to the internet in general. I saw something about your issue under the EA tech support forums... see if I can find it.
I posted this in another thread:
