Transparent creatures would be great fun: jelly fish and similar. This feature is already implemented in cell stage. It should not be soooo diffcuilt to transfer it to other creatures than cells.

But important (imho) are transparent (and maybe fully invisible) objects for buildings. It like ramps, stairs, walkways, gangways and bridges in GA ... but their is a seroius problem! It is very likely to fall down. Even if there is a handrail, you can easily fall off, a step that is a bit too high ... and your captain makes a big jump ... and a very long jump into the depth With glas or invisible walls build in the buildings, we could prevent this.

I was editing my adventure a little bit. Then I started the test mode to check if there were any problems ... and I found a problem where I did not expect it.

In my adventure there is in the background a heavy battle in progress. Suddenly the number of the brave defenders was getting smaller and small, so "the hero" was almost forced to intervene, because the attacks were reaching the last defence line - although this was not intended by me...

So I went around to look for the brave defenders ... but see for yourself, where these "brave" ones were hiding.

(In the front of the picture - my captain for test mode, in the background the breached gate ... and between under the smashed gate ... )



Too bad the speech bubbles were not captured, here are some. I counted these chickens - 11 soldiers wre hiding here!
Soldier A.....: We are under attack!
Commander: Forward boys! Let them not pass!
Soldier B.....: They are so numerous.
Commender: To the gate! Defend the civilians!
I have / had the problems with some of my building, too. It seems, that this problem appears quite often, if the floor is made very thin or it is made by using detail parts. At some detail parts the collison detection is not working properly

To solve this problem I used additonaly the floor / ceiling of Maxis' mothership mission ( I don't know it's Englih name, pardon. My Spore game is German ). These additonal floors buried into your own objects helps a lot. But this workaround has a bad side effect: The complexity points are consumed very fast. So if it is avoidable you should use not parts from the detail pages as floors!

I would like to leave that planet alone, as you have recommend it. But even this is not possible

I don't know what causes the problem. But before I start a new game, I would like to know, ...

... if my saved game is again damaged beyond repair.
... if I can transfer my captain to a new game,
... what might has caused this problem and how could I avoid it to happen again.
... or is my PC or Spore installation the causer of these problems?

a simple question: I am in space stage and I wonder if it is possible to exchange an experienced captain with another captain with also some experience points. Has any one a clue?

Background:
* I have to start a new game because of a bug (read here).
* I want to make only a copy from my creations ...
* and than erase all other stuff de-install and re-install Spore.
* I found here in the forum, that it is possible to start in space stage with the evolutionary way kept by starting with a creature with the "history" icon shown in the Sporepedia.

* Also it would be nice to swap between two captians because of the 10 gadget limt per captain.
* So I could outfit one captain with social stuff and the other is outfitted with a combat suit.
* And no, I don't want to play only the adventures. I want to play the adventures within the space stage. (Just in case someone comes up with this solution)

Has anyone found a way to exchange in space satge the captain?

If this is not possible yet ... Maxis make it happen!

  • Richt click in the Sporepedia on a picture, that I want to use in my signature

  • "Copy the address of the picture" selected. Now the address is in the clipboad

  • Now I pasted this link in a formular at www.tinyurl.com

  • This is done because of the 256 character limit of the signature

    There is also is limit for height and width for the signatures. But I don't know the values. So you have to try it out.
    The poll system here in the forum do not allow to select more than one option. Look at my small picture: Here are TWO options selected. There you have as many votes as there are options available. In the polling system now, you have only ONE vote.

    In the case of showning Maxis which suggestion is wanted most, there is no way to set up a poll to ask here for a priority.

    in my humble opinion another poll system would be very handy: Multiple choice polls with check boxes instead of option radio buttons.



    With the help of such a poll system, it would be much easier to find out, what is more wanted than other things. In the case of suggestions for an expansion pack this would be very useful, won't it?
    I played a while, ... and now I can't continue my game. I don't know if this is caused by / related to the history mess.

    Problem descpriton
    I am in Space stage. The last things I could do without running into problems, I prepared a planet for been taking over: Alle cities on that planet have now rised the white flag. Then I changed into solar system view to save the game. But right after that, I could not conquer that planet - almost every time I am clicking on the conquer button and choosing any of the two options, the game freezes. If I click to take control of taht planet the zoom starts and then the game freezes. If I click on destroy that planet I can enter the atmosphere and then the game freezes. What troubles my also ... even if I do not touch the planet at all, after some seconds doing nothing the game freezes. If I try to leave that cursed solar system the freezes happens at once.

    Additional strange behavior in that saved game
    * If I open the sporepedia, the almost completely conquered species (the planet describe above) shows only an orange angry face. In the game - at their last planet in comm console - the face is red (-506 in relationship).
    * The day before yesterday I found a mess in the history graph (see here: Mess in history graph posted 07/09/2009 ). Btw. The mess covers "only" the tribal up to the first half of the space stage. The last half of the space stage looks okay.

    Things I have already tried
    * I tried an older save game. No change in behavior. That planet is not touched by me in that game. But the game freezes after a few seconds.
    * I de-installed and re-installed Spore. No change.
    * I started a new game. No problems so far - but all progress is lost
    * I made a backup of the other save game files (Pollination.package, ...) and let the game regenate them. It did not help.
    * I reduced the setting for memory and graphic cache. A very short therm help: I could conquer the planet, but when I tried to saved the game, it freezes during the save game process. After a new start of Spore it tells me a corrupted save game was found and restored it right before the conquer click.
    * I turned off the viruse scanner and the firewall. No change.
    * A mem test resulted in no errors found.

    Btw: This is not my first Spore game I have started. If I had kept all saved games, I could supply a bunch of them: Every week a new game started from scratch - this is not very funny. Yes, I am frustrated. New games started because of ...

    No, it does not affect the game play. I accidentally found this "abstract work of art". I am onyl afraid of more and more serious errors which may appear - and this might be the spearhead.

    maybe some(or maybe most?) of the now listed wishes are already in this topic - somewhere. English is not my first language, so my wishes maybe added, but I read it over, because it is described in a different way - or in a way I could not understand at all. I beg your pardon for this

    For many of the listed ideas there are workarounds. But ... I am tired of searching for them and using them, too. A good game does not need any workarounds. Maxis, please read your forums and care about your customers by listen to them.

    There is no particular order. I made very time I found something I don't like a note ... so here is my list:

    Right now we can only say good, neutral or bad to a creation. It will be better if this system would reflect the thoughts more accurate. Especially in GA it is annoying that a creator gets only very seldom to know why his adventure is not liked. Most people here prefer adventure like this "easy points" - five seconds *place-nasty-word-here*. I am thinking of a rating split into "theme is my taste", "length (time)", "freedom from error" and "complexity (you have to read or to do more)". The overall rating would than the multiplication or sum of its parts.

    Right now I am playing most times off-line. I just download a few adventures and then I will disconnect. It would be great, if one could select multiple newly downloaded adventures and then click "Download all stuff belonging to these adventures".

    I would like to write notes and attach them to planets. By doing so I could stick "Post-It" to remind myself for things to do here and there. Like "T3 is completed but cities are not set up" or "artifact found here, but not yet collected" . If this notes are then listed in table form - with searching in it, the space stage would not be so chaotic

    I am a collector of species. I like to build zoo planets. Each zoo has to be individual. But the cargo space is very limited. I would like to see in the Sporepedia where I have met these creatures, so I can easily pick them up later.

    In the space stage all cities have the same pattern. Only the cities on your home planet differ. So why is there not a button to set up a colony with a saved pattern (plus some decoration), if someone has enough money? These dragging buildings is quite boring.

    Spore is sometimes nasty ... especially if you did not save your work for some time. I don't know how many time I have wasted because of a crash or hang and all my work was lost. The only difficulty is to build an autosave with is running in the background.

    Exchange between the different editors
    It would be great if you could change the type of a creation, so you can edited it in a different editor. E.g. If you created a great looking ground vehicle and you want to just change a few things to use it as a ship (a hovercraft), so far you have to start from the scratch. The same problem is if you want to change a military vehicle into a religious one. The same problem exists if you with to downgrade a creature or a colony vehicle. If this is too difficult to implement, because the editor are so strict separated - it would be okay if the parts are erased, that can't transferred.

    Table of planets in a solar system
    It would be nice to see a short table of all planets of a solar system while you are in the system. Sometimes the moons or in a very wide system the outer rim planets are slip someone's notice. This table should list the T-score, how many cities there are, spice type and amount, a Seti-signal present, if there are missions available and maybe the notes you have written. And if you single click on a planet's name your spaceship flies to the planet. With a double click you enter the atmosphere.

    After a fight it is boring to pick up all money bags one by one. And if you turn of the Seti-scanner you might miss seldom objects. So it would be okay to have such a (high-tech) tool to clean up the mess.

    Improvements for captain's hologram
    First, this tools should be not such an high-tech tool. It is funny but not very useful (at the moment). So give it to us earlier! And make it more useful: It should be able to pick up plants and animals, too. Also give it a small laser, so you can use it for hunting infected animals. It should move faster (like speed 5) independent of your creatures speed, it should be able to jump or walk even on very steep cliffs. If you also could interact with sapient life forms - now matter in which stage it is - this tool would get a revival. It is not necessary that the hologram tool can do all things at once: Let us buy upgrades for it. Thanks.

    Creatures needs the ability to climb
    No creature (with hands or sucker) is able to climb - strange, isn't it? This would be enormous useful in GA if you have dropped with a chasm/gap, because of the faulty collision detection. If your creature can't climb, there should be a captains tool to cover this natural lack.

    Do you know the good old SNES game "Zelda - A Link to the past"? Such a tool would be great, fantastic, unbelievable, ... ! Btw the other tools in Zelda would also be very useful as a captain's tool.

    "Optimize Creature" for sapient species (especially your own)
    Many players have already found out, that a very beautiful and detailed creature is not the best choice for playing as a sapient life form. The complexity meter for the captain shows us a too strict limit. It would be acceptable (not good!) if you could change your species later to drop some details that will be covered by clothes. But there are better but maybe more difficult to implement solutions for this problem.

    Captain wants to teleport down on EVERY planet
    Now we have GA, and it is a bit disappointing. It is a additional game in the game Spore. I miss a stronger connection to the space stage. If you could get your captain walk on every planet (on T0 planets only with a life supporting suit). This would close the gap - a bit. The adventures do not take care of the objects you have already found in your galaxy ... but this is already another topic (see below)

    Captain need bigger armory
    All captain's gadgets should be accessible for a single captain. The way it is now - after level 10 the armory is full - is ... *place-nasty-word-here* ! It is not realistic. It makes not much fun. I want to identify with a single captain ("From zero to hero!") and not with a bunch of ordinary pilots with some gadgets. I am not alone with my moaning. If the captains get to complex, there are better solutions: Like you are only allowed to carry a fixed number of tools (e.g. 5 or 6 should be enough). Additionally you should be able to save a number of outfits ... one for social missions, one for combat missions, one for mission with high maneuverability needs and one for mixed missions.

    So far there are no real shops down there on the planets. It would be nice, if you can buy things on the surface, like med kits, power ups ... or you can hire people within an adventure (or even for a longer term). The cash is drawn from your space ship account.

    Consumable, collectable (and buyable) equipment
    E.g. the power ups and med kits are used at once, if you move over them. Why can't they stored in a back pack for later use. Also there could be some weapons that needs touchable ammunition. I am also thinking of jump jets, armor (and all the other equipment) with only a few charges. You can buy these charges separately from the equipment itself. By implementing this, your captain could be send to every adventure: If a special equipment is needed, you have to buy the temporary stuff.

    How can you heal your friends during a mission?
    So far it is impossible I think. If you get a collectable med kit, you could pass it to your ally. If there would be an upgrade for the healing equipment, that it heals also your fellows ... this would be okay. But I would prefer the collectable med kits.

    More simple way to administrate your own Sporecasts.
    Right now, I am using my main Sporecast as a theme for my galaxy. But it contains now more than 5500 objects. I can't order the object by name, by type or by parent-child relationship. So I can't find obsolete or doubled objects in this Sporecast. And it be great to hide objects in your Sporepedia which are part in selected Sporecasts: So I could find out which objects I downloaded directly and that needed to moved to my main Sporecast.

    Option to turn off automatic downloads

    I don't what to get flooded with objects I don't want to see in my galaxy. There is no reason to download more simple creatures - I am in space stage. I only want to see high detailed animals or sapient creatures. There is also no need to download mailbox objects or any goofy stuff. If I found these things downloaded, I go offline delete them and stay offline until I want to download selected new stuff.

    It would be a great help if there would be a checklist of official and from the game supported tag for all creations. This list could be extended bit by bit from Maxis. And if you use some tags very often by yourself this list is extended by your own tags, too. An very useful tag would also be "Comic" or "Goofy". I don't like such stuff in my galaxy and I have to manually delete them.

    Maxis has shown us the way it could be done: Some captain's stuff has additional controls for positioning the parts. Why do not have all objects in all editors these controls? And so far this control works only in one direction - there are two more directions ... it is a 3D game

    Stop the friendly fire in space combat
    In the heat of a battle it happens quite often that I am firing my missile at a allied craft. That is reason for me to send all allied ships back to their home planets (It is too dangerous to stay with me o.O )

    Separate function from appearance for all parts in all editors
    E.g. if you want a special ability for your creature, but you don't want to use the part which gives your creature this ability, you may use the "buried parts" workaround. This costs complexity points although you can't see that special part. And what do you do if you want it the other way round - To have an special part and not it's function (e.g. the small horn for claws)? For this direction there is no workaround. Another example: A small creature with the elk antlers and ramming 5 is as bad as a normal size creature and enormous sized horns with ramming 1. In the captains editor Maxis showed us that were thinking about it ... too bad that they have only implemented it for a few of the new accessory objects and not to the end - you can adjust the strength of the power claws, but by doing so the look also changes :'( It would have been much easier if the visible objects do not give you any ability and there are some kind of invisible parts which grant you the ability at the level you want. I fear this would be a very different Spore, so Maxis will not consider there a change :'(

    Weapon system for vehicles are neglected so far
    The vehicle do not show the correct weapons that are placed on military vehicles (ground, sea and air). Ground and sea vehicle do only shoot missiles while air vehicles use only beam weapons. There could be some kind of invisible controller placed additionally to show the game which weapon type to start from which part of the vehicle. Also there should be the opportunity to created defense (or offensive) building.

    Zones for different climates on planets
    So far the weather on a planet is global. If there would have been climate zones, there would be another nice detail and new opportunities: Special creatures/plants can only survive in special climates. If your own species starts on a planet with only weather from cold dry to very cold and a bit moisture (selectable!), this should effect its appearance and abilities ... and later in space stage how the planets are terra formed and maybe the diplomatic relationships to other races.

    Diplomacy is too simple
    The diplomatic actions could easily enhanced. There are no spies / assassins. No Exchange in research. Only spice is traded. There are no other treaties than alliance, neutral state, war and trading routes. There could be so much more: Offer a system, a tribute for peace. Sharing a solar system. A tribute that depends on actions (tribute because of trading routes passing the territory) or stats (comparison of military strength or size and development of the empires). Even in some C64 games there are more possibilities

    The vehicles in Spore look alike there was more intended but they quit it. You should be able to drive all kinds of vehicles and they are really used for transportation of goods, people and other vehicles (like ferries, aircraft carriers, transport helicopters, ... , motherships!)

    Dynamical use of the complexity meter in all editors
    I know, there are some "low tech PCs" out there. But there are also better PCs than mine available. Additionally I want a Spore which makes use of all hardware even in a few years. So I think every player should be able to adjust the complexity of the objects used on his PC. If he wants to use a too complex object, as a first step some animations could be frozen to reduce the pressure on his hardware. Or some small scaled details are only rendered, if zoomed in very close. Only as a last step there should be the denial of the too complex creation ... like it is now for everyone.

    The player starts the clip from the beginning every click and drag-and-drop. This causes headaches if you set up a city from scratch to completed in a single session. I had to turn it off.

    It is annoying that you can't access the cell stage parts within the creature stage. Also I would like to change my species food. So why are the other mouth locked away? Very unrealistic that mother nature can't think it over and change a herbivore to an omnivore or carnivore. Just take a look at the human: It changed lately from being a omnivore to a fast food consumer

    Selectable voice
    I would like to change the sound of the voice of some creatures. Some creature have already hidden their mouth and the creator build their own - so an adjusted voice would be nice. Additionally I have quit using some animals for terra forming, which this donkey cry is horrible!

    Would it not be better to have up to three different mission types to choose from, if you are looking for a mission? Right now, I am saving every time before I ask for a mission. If it is a mission I don't like or I don't want to play now, I am reloading the saved game.

    Backup of a saved game and everything that belongs to it
    In the past I had to deleted the file "Pollination. Package" because Spore refuses to work. After the rebuild of that file, I found out, that all animals, species, vehicles, buildings ... everything was exchanged to other objects of the same type. Is it so difficult to recreate a backup system within Spore? I know, a complete save game with all files is very large. But we have so far only one save game. If you found out that you have made a mistake, you can't reload an older game.

    The mini map of the compass needs rework. In GA if you have to travel some distance, the compass is only a guess ... it is almost useless!

    Notes on the planet just in the GA editor
    The abilties to add editor notices to an adventure. Like it has been integrated in Sim City: Place a sign somewhere on the map, write a message to yourself or interested GA edititors. This sign should not be visible in the game. It is only for editing the adventure (and to write a quick note (and by cycling thru them quick findable) to remind yourself on things to do).

    It would have been nice, if you could scale buildings in all three directions separately and not only in all three direction combined. I don't know how many times I have copied floors/ceilings and placed next them to the original for covering a room that is only different by the aspect ratio.

    I have set up some really cool looking vehicles in my adventure, especialy Mechs. But it is a pity ... you can't bear to watch them in the game. The animations sucks. Maxis, please, give us inelastic legs / arms for Mechs which can be covered with details / armor plates.

    There are some good looking droids around there. But it sucks to watch them bite if you haven't attached the claws or the poisonous blade. And a gentlemen / lady should not bite either

    Some small UI changes
    The (don't know the English name) grid of animal and plant life is rather small. I had to reduce the resolution because these small buttons are hard to hit. It would also be good if the tooltip showing the creature would have been as large as the thumb nail in the Sporepedia. At last a single right click should open the editor view of that creature. This all would make a zoo keepers life much more comfortable.

    There is no easy and fast way to manage the Sporecasts - a multiple selection and drag and drop should allow copying and/or moving objects within two Sporecasts.

    I am thinking of some kind of mini Sporecast to bundle everything belonging to a single civilization. This would contain a species for the beginning to the space stage, plus a set of building / vehicles for every stage.     Diseases among sapient species
    A new quest type for space stage / GA: There is a serious outbreak of a disease on a planet. You have to collect info (from other species), plants, animals or other objects to find a cure.     I don't know if this is already possible. But I would like to bomb some of my neighbors back to the tribal stage ... or creature stage! I don't want to annihilate them - just keeping some specimen in one of my zoos

    Gardening - plant editor and selection of plants in space stage
    To be honest, most plants in Spore are ugly (my opinion!) I wish there would be a chance to select the most beautiful ones for your home planet. By doing so I could spread this selection in space stage. It is some very time consuming process to collect the few beautiful plants before you can start terra forming. It is sadly not possible to annihilate a plant from a planet - or you have to de-terra-form it.

    I would like to make some kind of mini Sporecast, to show the game which vehicles / buildings belong to my civilization. A set of up to 3-5 vehicles buildings of every type would be okay.

    Official tags for animals' environment
    For example: If a creature likes water (living in water is not possible ), it is an early creature and also prefers hot climates, this creature is only found near the coast on hot planets which are not very much evolved. If you now terra form this planet to a different climate it is most likely that this creature will vanish. If you do not touch this planet, the creature will later vanish, too, but it will replaced by a more evolved one.

    More differences in planets T-scores
    Why are all sapient species (except the Grox) prefer average temperature and average atmosphere? I am thinking of different preferred climates, gravitation and composition of the atmosphere. Planets covered completely covered with water, lava or toxic atmosphere could also support (very specialized) sapient life. Also the gas giants could make some strange life forms a home. Sadly the creators of Spore have kept it too simply here.

    More complex animal / plant grid
    I would like to have a more complex (and larger by number) animal / plant grid. More complex because of some animals / plants depends and other animals / plants. And larger completed grid could support more cities one a planet - You only have the drop 3x3 plants and 3x3 animals to reach T3 (no change there). But if you complete more rows and or larger rows, you can make planets like your home planet. (A question here: Why do omnivores need herbivores on a planet???)

    Don't get me wrong. I like Spore. I like it very much. But there are also some things in this game that need improvements. And sometime it makes me wish "I could bite into the keyboard".

    As you can see I keep myself busy with Spore - because I like it!
    Hmmm, no one here who chances a glimpse on my adventure?

    Okay, let's do some more advertising:

    The plot
    You receive an emergency call from your friend Windwalker Sir Squall: The wildlife reserve planet Eco-9 is out of control. Find out what happened and see how you can help your friends there.

    Chapter 1 - Arrival on Eco-9 (Goals: 1 visible)
    You have just arrived. Meet your friend the Windwalker Sir Squall and ask him about what had happend to the once beautiful jungle planet Eco-9.
    Chapter 2 - Where is Cmd Lightning? (Goals: 1 invisible)
    Go and find Cmd Lightning! Nobody has seen him. So where is the commander of this outpost?
    Chapter 3 - Wild creatures gone wild (Goals: 2 visible, 1 invisible)
    Help to defend the small gate, which is under heavy attack
    Chapter 4 - Investigations (Goals: 3 visible)
    Now the attackes are repelled, you can try to find out what has caused this mess. Follow the path to the wildlife control center.
    Chapter 5 - Helping the Ents (Goals: 1 visible, 1 invisible)
    Find the infected Ents and eliminate them. But do not harm the not infected ones!
    Chapter 6 - The Garlonoid (Goals: 2 visible, 1 invisible)
    Your scaner shows, the complete species is infected. To bad ... annihilate them all!
    Chapter 7 - Not cataloged ??? (Goals: 3 visible)
    Find the species which is destabilizing the wildlife system.
    Chapter 8 - All you could do (Goals: 2 visible)
    Find the causer of the all these problems and stop them.

    Length 20-25 min
    Difficulty: Hard (Chapter 3 and 5)

    Captain needs a weapon (any would do)
    Captain should be able to jump (natural or jump pack) because of some steps.
    The sneak ablitiy (natural or cloaking device) makes it much more easy.
    There are respawning medikits.

    This is a small cutscene with a look around within the outpost. You see: The base is alarmed, the Windwalker are upset.

    In this cutscene you can see the commander-in-chief, Cmd Lightning. It is a pity you can't read his taunts within the video



    Spore - Windwalkers 1 - Eco-9 - Scene (4) - To the battlefield
    After talking with Cmd Lightning the troops will now follow you as seen in the first half (I was running to fast). In the second half of this cutscene you can see the hard-fought and already damaged gate.

    Btw the collision detection in Spore is "a bit" messy. So everyone is experiencing problems with beeing stuck in the walls / in the floor or shooting through walls :S
