The spice trading doesn't bother me, and in fact I actually enjoy this component of space. One of the very first things I do when starting off in space is securing a purple spice planet to maximize my economy. Sure it gets tedious at times, but the challenge of finding optimal buyers and sellers is rewarding to me. And in a short period of time you can garner enough economy to not have to worry about funds ever again (really, once you get up to ~30mil money isn't a problem).

Automating this task wouldn't work as well because the prices fluctuate so much.

I'd take that over the other secret item anyday!

Or perhaps access to another galaxy? For instance a mockup version of Andromeda that you can start new games in from the main menu. Just add an arrow button at the bottom to rotate between galaxies.

Deep down I was hoping for that too. When Steve first started talking to me, I was thinking to my self "Access to a new galaxy with a different, random layout?!?". Suffice to say, the end results was rather anti-climatic.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. EA disgusts me...

1UP: I know a lot of concern from the community is the pricing for this and how much people are going to have to pay for packs that are essentially just adding in x number of parts to the game. Are you worried about the perception being negative in this way?

Lucy Bradshaw: Not really.

We should all PM her and tell her how we feel about EA's policies so she can be more in touch with us gamers...because clearly she isn't.
That happened to me once. I accidentally auto-saved right before getting attacked by two tribes, and there was no way for me to win the game. In the end I deleted the planet and moved on.

So they are working on the parts pack and not fixing bugs.

This is EA we're talking about. Patches do not produce profit for them.
Loopy-Lizard wrote:I think 20 dollars for a parts pack is pricy. I may buy it if the reviews for it say if its worth it.

Dude, do you really need reviews to tell you how great this parts pack is? It's ADDITIONAL PARTS! Go to the homepage of Spore and they'll break down exactly what's contained therein. I think you can make the judgment yourself on this one.

I haven't yet witnessed the sheer excitement of 60 new glorious parts, but I can already give you my review: If you purchase this, you're a sucker.
Welcome to the club of sound consumers. Be proud of your ability to discern value from blatant money grabs, and trust in your judgment when it comes to purchasing anything from EA/Maxis.

edit:

Screw GALACTIC god. Universe God.

You are right, this should have been granted at the center of the universe.. SPODE should have said. I quit!! these GROX are aggrivating me. take my job!!!!! PLEASE!!!

But then how would EA make any expansions?
RedLightning777 wrote:AMEN!!! amen amen. Why cant these people that love the game just leave the people that have their opinions about EA alone. In essence they are doing what they preach against.

I LOVE THIS GAME... I just HATE the tactics of EA. I have HIGH hopes for this game.. and SO DOES Maxis and EA.. though they want to charge me half a grand to make it that way.

I certainly wouldnt be here posting had I NOT LOVED THE GAME I would have just buried it in the backyard, did a little dance on the grave, relieved myself on it.. and walked away from EA.

I have hope for EA and by extension this game. If EA continues down the road they are on .. they will eventually go out of business. Which would be BAD news even for the people that defend this game to the end.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
An upgrade to your ship that grants it immunity from the gravity well so your flight is not limited as you travel closer to the core. This way you might actually have a chance at eliminating the Grox without worry of unreachable planets.

I'd take that over the other secret item anyday!

Oh I get it. So this thread is sort of like a Seinfeld episode? Not that there's anything wrong with that...
peppersprayed wrote:I am so close, if only I could travel a little further (not singshot, someone mentions slingshotting again and I will choke you through my computer)

Can't you just slingshot onto those unreachable planets?
When the stupid parts pack gets released in Nov, Maxis will only authorize creations that take advantage of the new parts as featured content in order to promote the new parts for a few months following.

Another, brilliant and slimy strategy from the corporate geniuses at EA.

You heard it here first!
Ladies and gentleman, I bring you my proudest creation.

WTF is that weird thing
greasy85 wrote:not sure if this has been said yet but in a video i saw before spore came out a demonstration vid by the way showed then beaming down there spore creature onto a planet and interacting with the locals. so in other words I believe that EA is deliberately withholding content from us for the purpose of cashing in money but don't they always.

Pretty much. I'd have to assume the same was done for the parts pack, plant creator, and additional cell parts.
