Well, sorry for the extremely long hiatus. I'm back now, although DRM may or may not allow me to reinstall Spore and I have a lot of school.

Ok, so Vipera, after looking over some of the stuff you made, I came up with some of the things you need to work on with making signatures. Think of this as some constructive critique from one sigger to another.

1. The effects. What I've noticed is that you use nebulae stocks and the like to get effects. Don't get me wrong, we all love using them. The problem is, you're placing them wrong. I noticed how you tend to put them over the render and putting them on a low opacity screen, making the render seem low quality. What you should so is make the effects so they go with the direction of the flow and put them around the render. You could put them on parts of the render, but not the main focal points, and not with such low opacity. Another thing is, try using some other effects like C4Ds and fractals. Morbidsheep's fractals are an excellent source and I'd recommend them greatly to you.

2. Blending. This doesn't apply to all your stuff, as some of it, like Suffish's, are more abstract. But when you're working with renders, you want to make them blend in with the rest of the piece. While this can be done with gradient maps, it doesn't do the whole job. For example, in the Noble Six signature you made, it looks like the Spartan is pasted on. You want to use your effects and some solid C4Ds to blend the render in.

3. Lighting. Lighting is one of the most important aspects of making a signature or graphics in general. For example, with the signature you made for Junkinator, there's a part of the robot that is lighter than the rest of it, implying a light source should be there. However, where there should be light, there's negative space. One of the ways you can make lighting is by making a new layer and taking a white soft brush and putting it where the light is hitting the render and where it's coming from. Then, gaussian blur it at around 50 and lower the opacity. It works like a charm, although sometimes it can be washed out.

These, I believe, are the three main aspects you need to work on. Here's a signature I made that demonstrates those:

Those star-like things are fractals, and I used them to add some cool effects to the piece. Notice the solid C4D at the bottom. That was to create some blending. The light fits with the render and is believable. It also demonstrates depth, another thing I believe you need to work on. Depth is relatively easy to do - Just blur the background.

I don't know, dude... Every time I look at one of Parkaboy's creations I say to myself, "I swear I've seen that exact design before..." Oh wait, Parkaboy's creations from a year ago.

He's running out of ideas, and quite frankly, is still way too simplistic. Although I like what he does and how he uses the parts, I'd like to see him try something more complex.
