Anybody know where I can get this? The link leads me to a page full of gibberish. There's no file.

Methinks they should have put this in a patch, or include it in a future patch. It would be easier.
I get confused when there's an empire the same color as me. I become friends and slowly buy them out. Unless they're Spodies or Warriors. Then I wipe them off the map.
Backing up your galaxy, and thus your games, is pointless. Here's why.

For some stupid reason, Spore stopped acknowledging that I had the C&C installed. I tried to reinstall it, but it said I had to uninstall Spore to uninstall C&C. I MAY have brought this on myself, when I messed around with files, specifically the .pollination file.

I can't live without the C&C, as some of my latest creations use parts from that pack. So, I went and did it. I uninstalled Spore, then reinstalled. I wouldn't have done this without the knowledge that doing so doesn't hurt your number of activations. Nothing on my comp has changed, so I'm safe.

I backed up the games, then put them back in the appropriate folder once Spore was installed and re-patched. My planets are there, HOWEVER, they have all been replaced with different creatures. Some Maxis, and some my own, but none are in their original place. My Cariboo planet has turned into an Ohnoez planet. Ecologist Ohnoez? I don't think so, pal. My Ohnoez is a Zealot.

So there you go. Backing up games is pointless, because as soon as you reinstall, the creatures in those games will get replaced. If there's a way to restore my planets, I don't know of one. It doesn't matter that much, because all my important games are in the Space stage, which I can easily restart on a new planet, since all the old creature data is still there. I'm just a little annoyed, is all. Spore said Merry Christmas, and played a switcheroo prank on me.

In case you can't tell, I wrote this firmly tongue-in-cheek. It could be worse. Much worse.
That answers one of my questions. Thanks! I had figured that, but I wanted to be sure.
Eventually, there will come a time when I have to reinstall Spore, mainly because of a complete hard drive format(I will probably have to do this in six months to a year). My question is, what are the exact files I will need to back up prior to formatting to preserve my current set of saved games? I know where I'll need to put the files after reinstalling, I just need to know which ones to backup.

Also, when the game is reinstalled, which patches are needed to be installed? Will I have to start from patch 1 and work my way up until all are installed, or do I need only install patch 3?

Thanks in advance.

I know it's not a bug. I just think they should make pollination separate from achievements. Might not be possible though, coding and such.
I've been having a couple saved games flip out on me. My Cariboo game was fine the other day, now when I open it, it will run fine for about a minute or so, then it crashes. It has become unplayable due to this fact. It will act fine, then boom. Always after about a minute, even if I click Save. It's always the same error message: "Spore has encountered a problem and needs to close."

The same thing happened to a game I had in the Creature stage. I deleted that one.

Edit: I just tried running the game in all low graphics settings, to see if that was causing issues. Nope, crash. It shouldn't have anything to do with graphics anyway, since I have a 9800GTX.

Well, that bites. I had figured all that file did was delete the creations. They should make those separate files: one for creatures, and one for achievements.

I take it I have to recreate games for each archetype again, because I lost my progress? (Warrior, Shaman, Ecologist, and Trader were what I had before). I still have those games, and a new Scientist I just created.

Nyargh....please fix that, Maxis. Actually, fix the random game crashes first. Then fix that.
I'm having a glitch with my achievements, thankfully not a bad one. After I deleted my pollination file about a week ago, achievements I've already earned are popping up again(even though they all still show up on my achievements list. I never lost them).

I'm still earning new achievements, but seeing old ones is rather odd. I just brought my Doomrunners to Space, and I got the Galactic God achievement all over again.

I have no idea why the pollination file would have anything to do with it, but it didn't happen until I deleted that.

Am I the only one? I know there must be others out there who have deleted their pollination file(I did it to 'clear the cache' so to speak, and remove unwanted creations before I enabled Buddies Only).
I have three colonies on an ocean world in one of my games...forgot which one. XD Anyway, there was so little land even after I upped it to T3, that I had to terraform land just to put my colonies on.
I just got into the Space stage with my Doomrunner, and the first planet my homeworld had me colonize was one with green spice. Too bad the first colony is always on a T0 planet.

White spice? I've read about it, seen screenshots, but I don't believe in it. I believe even less that people have somehow gotten it, and sold it. Then again, the Spore galaxy is huge, so who knows.
Lost count after 12. I'm a computer geek, what do you expect? XD

So do citizens on your own planet..AAaaaaAAAA! There are so many times when I've picked up money bags from a city after blowing up pirates, and I accidentally suck up a citizen. It's so funny! XD That's another one of those little touches in Spore that just cracks me up. That, and if a carnivorous creature eats a fruit, it vomits.

When an aggressive species begins a civilization, they get little nuclear bomb mushroom clouds over their heads in their thought bubbles. That's just timeless.
I have a love/hate relationship with the Grox. On one side, I remember when I attacked them in my first galaxy(which I had to clear because I cheated)and they NEVER left me alone. What's the point of going to war with them, if you can never kill them off? *Cough*Unreachablestars*Cough*

At the same time, I think they're adorable. Still, I have yet to reach the center of the galaxy after almost three months of constant playing. I don't want to bother blowing up their planets, since that will just start another never ending war. I'm kind of stuck on what to do.

I tend not to think of them as machines like computers, because half of their body is still organic. They do talk like computers, though. Grox surrender. Does not compute. XDD
Many people have complained about a crash that occurs when entering a 'zoo planet', one designated as a wildlife sanctuary.

I have never had this glitch occur, until now. I can no longer enter a wildlife sanctuary without it crashing. Maybe patch 3 just made this glitch rear its ugly head on my system for the first time. I never had it happen with the first or second patches.

It isn't that big of a deal to me. I'll just avoid that planet, and not make any more wildlife sanctuaries until the bug is fixed. Nevertheless, it is a widespread problem that needs to be addressed.
