I became a zealot after a lot of work. I wanted to be a zealot because of their ability.
I didn't know how to get them so it took like 3 save files. I finally get the right combo, and decide
to use the ability on some spodes. I use it on their home planet, get a ton of cities, I've finally
gotten to play as a zealot, and then the game tells me I've broken galactic code
?!?!?!?!? THIS IS SO UNFAIR
I worked for 8 DAYS to get this ability, and the game tells me that everyone within ten parsecs is
gonna go raiding my home planet and killing me TWO MINUTES INTO THE SPACE STAGE???
I get the only power worth getting and I CAN'T EVEN USE IT?!?!?!
A shaman gets the same thing as DYING to go back to your home planet.
A warrior pirates, BIG DEAL the people lose some spice.
A scientist can blow up all the enemies in a system, but that's ANOTHER galactic code violation.
A diplomat gets to freeze the enemies, but only for a few minutes, and I'm not a fast fighter.
A bard can become unatackable long enough to RETREAT.
An ecologist gets to beam up a ton of animals at once. YAY!
A trader gets a FAST trade route.
A knight gets another ship, but that is useless cause when you die your allies can't save you.

NONE of the archetypes have useful abilities, and the ones that you might be able to use
are AGAINST GALACTIC CODE!!!!!

I AM MAD AT THE GAME!!!

I'm sorry, Dave. I can't let you read that.

It makes sense for forced conversion of a planet's citizens to your religion to be considered an atrocity in the exact same way it makes sense for blowing up an entire planet or all the cities on a planet with the press of a button to be considered one.

It is THE most powerful Superpower in the game, it has to have SOME consequences.

Greetings comrades, if you are reading this, our attempt at global domination shall be realized soon. Please deploy all of your remaining peanut butter southward to your nearest representative for construction on the doomsday device.

GAHH!! All the icons and colors and caps!

All the abilities are useful, but they depend on how you play. The Trader's is essentially the same as the Zealots, you just need $$ (and it doesn't break the code!)

The Zealot's ability is ridiculous. Converting an empire shouldn't magically replace them with your species, that isn't how conversion works.

Installations of secret software that create security risks are intrusive and unlawful. Consumers’ computers belong to them, and companies must adequately disclose unexpected limitations on the customary use of their products so consumers can make informed decisions regarding whether to purchase and install that content. - FTC Chairwoman Deborah Platt Majoras, on the Sony BMG CD DRM scandal of 2005

Next time, ask around and see how exactly to get to the Zealot archetype. Aggressive tribal, religious Civ is an easy way to get there, I believe.

Secondly, think about it for a second.

A giant super power like the zealot's would be over powered without any sort of consequence.

Also, against your opinions on the super powers;

A shaman can use that ability to preserve fuel.
A warrior could use it as a distraction to attack the pirate's target.
A scientist could use it against the Grox, I believe.
A diplomat can easily use a freeze to escape from sticky situations.
An ecologist's super power is a wonderful time saver on "FETCH ME THE COVETED DINKLEBURRY" missions.
A trader's power just makes life easier.
A knight's ability makes combat easier.

It is THE most powerful Superpower in the game, it has to have SOME consequences.

Agreed.

same here. my scientist ability is ridiculous too. Magically wiping all advanced life off of a planet isnt really how wiping advanced life off of a planet works either.

I've never had the zealot power myself, but I can comment on the other power that is a galactic no no.

So generally, they are saying that destroying the entire civ on a planet NOT against galactic code when you pluck them off one by one. Yet if you use one of your "earned godlike abilities" to essentially do the same thing, its against the rules. That really doesn't even make sense IMHO.

But another reasoning could be ... its like a nuclear weapon, which is quite against earths conduct code, VS a war... but then again wiping out an entire race is called genocide yet wiping one out in the game is not against the rules. (Though I'm not saying that it should be against the rules in the game)

Still, I think that the OP has a valid point, your supposed godlike powers shouldn't be against the rules, another nail hammered home for the "This should be a god game, but isn't crowd, me being one of them).

Besides I think they really killed the idea of you being the ruler of the game the second that center of the galaxy was found. The heavily protected king is.. not **you**. When in fact it should have been .. NOW THAT would HAVE BLOWN MY MIND. My computer at the center of the galaxy.. or a direct line from it to the center of the galaxy, with the current resident a robot used to care for it.

Totally off the subject but a neat Idea.

I use the power rarely.

The first time I used it was to take over a home planet with purple spice. At which point I had plenty of money to bribe everyone who was angry into being happy with me again.

It is a immensly powerful ability.

Use it only when you really need it.

My Zealots are my favorite race so far.

that was like calling SoonerRed a stupid. Come on, is visible enough that we are dealing with a person smart enough to look for a button alone. - OptimusJ

The easiest way to be a zealot:

Cell:Carnivore
Creature:Predator
Tribe:Friendly
Civilization:Religious
Space:Violation of the Galactic Code

Edit: Hmmmm........Being a Zealot seems to fit my signature picture......

'Plucking them off one by one' gives the enemy a fair chance though. They get to mount a defense, or evacuate to a safer place, or try to end the war peacefully.
