I've observed in these forums a general yearning to understand the enigma that is Spode. This thread is designed to keep other threads regarding the subject from spontaneously popping up. Here we can talk about theories, as well as experiences, regarding Spode.

I (in a sort of self determination to create) have developed a theory about the supposed 'God' Spode. Most of these are set in the RPing style, as that is where I developed the idea over a period of time. I will keep a section (located below) detailing the communities thoughts and theories. Starting with mine.

This may seem like a long read, but I assure you, they are all worth it.

SkaroSyndicate's Spode theory:

Explanation One-Overview:
Spode was the name of an ancient alien race spanning the entire galaxy. They helped spread life throughout the galaxy with their powerful technology, and helped advance others. They are the creators of item like the Genesis Device(later renamed the Staff of Life when the species went extinct, and knockoffs where produced by less powerful civilizations), as well as more powerful versions of the technology used by current races in the known galaxy, most of which was created by a scientist who went by the name of his race, Spode. The Spode accidentally helped advance the Grox race over the course of 2000 years to the point of being their equals in technology, and because of miscalculations when trying to exterminate the threat with de-terraforming technology, their greatest rivals. When the Grox became ambitious, they started a war with the Spode, and being able to inhabit "dead" worlds, they simply destroyed the ecosystems and atmospheres of Spode held worlds, leading to their rapid advancement in the war.

The Scientist named Spode, who had for the last 4000 years been working on an immortality serum, survived the war between his species and the Grox. When he realized the destruction caused by the war he helped fuel, he went insane, and attributed the 'sins' of his entire race to himself. Over the millennia, in his own mind he replaced the existence of his race with himself. Spreading the stories of his races accomplishments, while substituting an entire population with but himself, much of the galaxy came to regard him as a god for what appeared to be pure fantasy in his tales.

The Scientist Spode is still alive and roaming the galaxy spreading his stories, and the Jestariadi Confederation is in constant pursuit of him in order for him to announce to the galaxy as a whole, that his tales are not of himself, but of a race he was once a part of, and of which he helped to destroy.

Explanation Two-The Spode Transmissions:
These transmissions were ones that appeared to be data banks left behind on abandoned worlds detailing the experiences of several of the Spode creatures. Many were ones sent to a person that went by the name of Spode. These data banks are incomplete, yet have been put together to form a history detailing the Spode, their disappearance, and how they are widely known throughout the galaxy.

Transmission 1:

Date- 4H, GU7963
Administrator 17- All systems extending 100 parsec’s from the Galactic core have been colonized and terraformed by the mighty Spode Empire.
A strange anomaly has appeared on YKS-422, a creature of living metal. Our scientists are investigating, and news will shortly be at hand.
The anomaly has been codenamed G.R.O.B. Gear Related Oil Biology.

Transmission 2:

Date- 276H, GU8834

Administrator 17- As I near the end of my life Spode, I wish you the best of luck on your project. May the chemical combination of all Spices give you the knowledge you seek.
Suggest you apply the finished product on the anomaly on YKS-422. The organism has evolved rather quickly, and has begun telepathically communicating with our brothers.

Transmission 3:
Date- 153H, GU9107
Colleague Krung- The Senate demands that all scientific researchers in the galaxy report to YKS-422. The situation has become dire as G.R.O.B. has evolved into taking another native species as a host. The new anomaly must be studied.

Transmision 4:
Date- 409H, GU9583
Administrator 18- The Senate and the scientific community wishes to know why you disagree with our decision to allow the G.R.O.B. to expand into a space faring species. Research over the last 500GU’s have turned up no evidence of your paranoid claims occurring. With the Mighty Spode Empire having guided for roughly 1500GU’s, we believe they will not see us the way you believe they already do.

Transmission 5:
Date- 325H, GU10000
Senate- This is a beacon for all Spode Imperial ships to report to YKS-413. The G.R.O.B. have become aggressive and have begun conducting raids on Spode colonies surrounding their systems. The problem is small, but we must show them force.

Transmission 6:
Date- 336H, GU10029
Spode Administrator of Military Affairs- Scientist Spode, the situation has become problematic, as G.R.O.B., now re-designated Greatly Retaliatory Oily Xenos, have begun colonizing our worlds and systems after ejecting the local populace. The senate has asked me, after reviewing your current project and the success it has currently brought you, to develop a way to destroy the GROX insurgents.
We look forward to a weapon to succefully accomplish this goal.

Transmission 7:
Date- 436H, GU10029
Spode Imperial Senate- We wished to thank you Scientist Spode, for your success in creating the Spear of Death. On this last day of GU10029, The Mighty Spode Empire will take back her colonies by de-terraforming them into dead husks.
The recent tests on YKS-408, reveal that even with the metallic biology, the GROX cannot survive in a vacuum environment, much like any other creature.
We thank you for your time, as well as The Genesis, that we are sure will re-terraform those dead planets, after the menacing GROX are dealt with.

Transmission 8:
Date- 86H, GU10238
Colleague Flodf- Oh happy, joyus day!!! I am so glad to have been accepted into your program! I will not let you down Spode, and hope to one day be given the same treatments you have administered to yourself, so that we may work together for all eternity.
The Imperial Senate has asked me to provide a report on the current war with the GROX in this acceptance transmission. And they are happy to inform that only YKS-424, YKS-422, YKS-421, and YKS-420 remain in GROX control. The news gets even better, all four planets are going threw a destabilization in habitability!
It is believed that the GROX carelessly let an ecodisaster spread to all other controlled worlds, and is causing their ecosystems to collapse! Isn’t that fantastic!!!!
The Senate would also like for me to inform you that they are allowing this to play out, and have hidden both your weapons at separate places in the galaxy.

Transmission 9:
(The only transmission not directed at Spode himself)
Date- 113H, GU10242
Black Guard Captain- The Black Guard’s would like to inform the Imperial Spode Senate that your package did not arrive at the destination we have been given.
All attempts have been lost to contact the delivery crew, whose last transmission came from about .5 parsecs away from YKS-425.
The Black Guard does not take its assignments lightly.

Transmission 10:
Date- 276H, GU 10298
Spode Imperial Senate- Scientist Spode, with the recent achievement of your project that has been refined over the last 4000GU’s, the Imperial Senate would like for you to begin administering the treatment Galaxy wide to all those belonging to the Spode Empire.
The war with the GROX has resurfaced, as our plan of waiting for their colonies ecosystems to collapse backfired. The ecosystems did indeed collapse, but once they had, the GROX still remained. Shortly after, their colonies began reappearing on all the dead worlds we had created using the Spear of Death.
We don’t believe that The Genesis is required yet, but your special treatment certainly would help in the war with the GROX insurgents.

Transmission 11:
Date- 374H, GU10311
Spode Imperial Senate- The Senate would like to inform Scientist Spode, that his unwillingness to spread his immortality serum to the rest of the empire has led to a fleet approaching your lab. Even if by the time you read this you are gone, we will take your research.
The Senate however, would like to make it clear that we can retract all offenses, if you agree to create another Genesis. Despite our best efforts, the GROX have somehow managed to get a hold of the Spear of Death, and have begun de-terraforming our colonies in order to make their own. With their expansion, they have enclosed the entire center of the Galaxy, making the retrieval of The Genesis impossible.

Transmission 12:
Date- 229H, GU10356
Spode Administrator of Military Affairs- The recent news of your development of technology that is almost god-like, that has defeated an entire Imperial Fleet, is shocking, and troubling. We request that this “one-man” technology be giving in large amounts to all Spode Imperial Warriors.
Your denial of both a new Genesis, and Immortality Serum, has led to you being hated among your own kind, as you’ve not come to aide your empire in it’s time of need.
Despite the major loss of territory from the GROX wars, we still feel that the Spode Empire will be able to fend off GROX incursions, while simultaneously chasing you down on charges of treason.
Take to mind, these claims are not made lightly, and that our mighty empire will chase you down until either it has been destroyed, or you have.

Transmission 13:
Date- 1H, GU10369
Spode Imperial Senate- This beacon is to all Spode across the galaxy, under a Senate mandate, you are all to return to the home system to defend your mother land from the GROX.
All renegades and criminals will have their charges lifted if they should answer this call. They’ve already taken the systems outer most planets, and have begun on the others.
Yet again, this distress beacon is to all…

It is believed that on 1G, the first day of GU10369, all spode across the galaxy, save for Spode himself, went to try and fight off the GROX invasion of their home system.
It is also believed that within 5 days of this transmission, the Spode race was all but extinct.
After his races destruction, it is thought that Spode went insane, and confused himself with his entire species. From there he went from world to world, telling all creatures who would listen of his greatness and power in the millennia past, leading to his worship by thousands of races across the entire Galaxy.
