It's no secret that the target audience for games is somewhere between 12 and 25 so I have to wonder if it missed its target.

My daughter is 12 and grew bored with Spore after a few days. She's very creative and uses several different kinds of animation software and video creation software and yet, Spore could not keep her interested.

I'm more forgiving I guess and I still enjoy Spore even though I find myself using the creator more than playing the actual game. After spending about 50 hours in the space stage I've grown pretty bored with it as well.

So I can't help but wonder if the target group is abandoning ship and leaving Spore to limp along with us older folks.

If that's the case, is Spore fading off into the jewel case isle soon?

I did get bored after playing in the space stage for about 50 hours as well. I started over with the goal of making a lineage of some of what I consider my better creatures. Doing that I found a new appreciation for the game. Plus it helps me discover what my creatures would look like as they progess. Some of which I never thought about doing.

My daughter (8 y/o) loves Spore but after a month of it she it not crazy about it, she still playes it from time to time. My older daughter (in college) in not playing, but that may be more because of class schedules and other demands her time.

Personally I (old fogey) have bored with playing the game spore, but still enjoying the editor, other supporting tools (sporecasts, rss feeds, and xml descriptor files) and the forums. Hopefully I will ahve my fan site up soon, I am pollishing it up now.

I'm not going to say how many hours I've played Spore, or how often I play it. I'm 25, still not sick of it after over a month and countless hours of playing.

Maybe I'm just a freak or something.

Nope your just a believer....like me I believe that somehow all these complaints about spore will go away and be replaced by praise because EA/Maxis did something awesome.

Im 51 with grown kids, and I still play several hours/week. It seems like it turns into a grind after a while. Start cell and get to space in a couple hours, then start again.

I was done in 3 weeks, and the first week didn't count cuz all I had was a black screen. =) Most of the 2 weeks was spent trying to find the Fun part of the game, which I did not find..

I'm giving the game to my 12yo brother. We will see what his opinion is...

I spent 100 hours in this game, though I grew bored after about 10 ... I just really really really wanted this game to magically turn into something that was promised us. Or maybe a few surprises. nope none to be had.

My daughter is 9 and plays Spore every single day. Infact I have found that the threat of losing the ability to play Spore is actually worse then being grounded when it comes to her. Hehe. So I submit that people...even children are different, and some people will find Spore entertaining for a longtime, and others will lose interest, while still others hated it from the start, and it doesn't matter how old or young those people are.
