Actually, it offends me and my son, who's got a learning disability, as well as my nephew who has a similar disability.

It could not have been worse.

The gameplay is stripped to nothing.

There is nothing to "play" with. You make an ability a number directly. You might as well play an RPG. From twenty years ago. I'd recommend "Pool of Radiance" but it has more levels and abilities (up to 25 levels in six abilities).

All of the other Sims game forced you to consider balancing what you wanted to do: you couldn't "max" without cheating or horrible side-effects, which made playing successfully a challenge and reward all in one.


I'd recommend this game for people that don't get why or how "sciency" can be fun.

It's literally called "Phun." It has no goals, just a gameplay engine that is based on real world physics.

And it's free.

Yeah, 90% of consumers or maybe more do not even know what DRM is, the whole thing is that people read reviews on the game and see so many people complaining about it. EA forgot the main rule of economics

If you want to make money, do not try to make money. Make something the consumer wants, and the money will follow. Prime examples, the movie Titanic (yeah, not everybody's cup of tea) and The Dark Night. Their sucess was not so much in the name, but the quality that got people to see it again, and again.

I have a VR6 volkswagen that cost me 30K that is in my garage with a rod bearing that got a contaminant in it and as result is nothing more than one massive paperweight till I finish the rebuild.

Hey, but it was a briliant and awesome car. I should go sit in the garage and apreciate I have it.

Not to sound facetious, but it is an excellent analogy. We got a game that was brilliant, but it is busted, plain and simple. Amazing engines and creationism in the game, but we have no way to enjoy it other than to make something in creator and blab about it on forums. Now the reason people sit here on the forum and complain is the fact that they do like it, they were really looking forward to it and were let down. Game or whatever, the human psyche takes all disappointment the same way and for some people need to vent. Not everybody is apathetic.

I rarely post, but felt I had to type this. Also, I consider myself to currently be on either side of the fence. this game is not good.

its got fun parts to it but as a whole the game sucks pretty bad.

Lebaiton: We want to make sure that other people aren't taken in by this ripoff. If ten people see my posts and pass up this POS as a result, my efforts to notify the public will not have been wasted.

If you're annoyed by the negativity here, consider where the responsibility for the negativity really lies. When you've got an official forum for a game and maybe 80% of the posts are negative, that should tell you there's a severe problem somewhere.

People don't like getting ripped off by false advertising.

I'm not being negative for its own sake; I don't really think I'm being negative at all. I'm trying to be constructive, to tell Maxis where they went wrong and how to correct it. And, perhaps, why they should correct it.
I don't see how anybody can disagree with my stance unless they're either dogmatically pro-EA/Maxis, or unless even the barest hint of hyperbolic vitriol makes them scream and hide under the covers like a little girl.
