Hrm, I didn't back anything up before reinstalling, but I selected "no" when asked if I wanted user created data to be removed as well. Did I lose my save files now?

Hey, something wierd just happened...I think.
I have Spore on another computer, tried to install the patch and boom! It worked.
I don't have C&C on this one, and only one saved game. Also I don't use online on this computer.

Zis is it!

OMG I got it to work WITHOUT REINSTALLING.

All I did was delete the Preference and Login Files inside the Application\Spore\Preferences folder. I cant believe that worked, props to RViper!!

I actually have another computer in my house. Its a Mac, but I haven't installed Spore on it yet. If they don't get a fix for the runtime error before tomorrow, I plan on playing it on the mac until theres a fix.

How to find the Preferences folder:

In Vista
\Users\(userid)\AppData\Roaming\SPORE\Preferences\

In Windows XP
\Documents and Settings\(Username)\Application Data\SPORE\Preferences\

The Application Data directory may be hidden. To display hidden files:

In the menu Tools->Folder Options->View
check "Show Hidden Files and Folders"

Mac:
Users\User Name\Library\Preferences\SPORE Preferences\p_drive\User\Application Data\Spore\

You can safely rename the login.prop and preferences.prop files to anything else. Example
rename login.prop to login.old

Reset graphics to default settings, and removing login.prop will force you to retype in your login credentials and set them to save again (if you save them normally).

You may need to tweak the settings back to where you want them after Spore loads.
