Yes, you can upload asymmetrical creatures onto the sporepedia. But atm the asymmetrical mod no longer works with patch 4 and GA, although you can make asymmetrical creatures without the mod.

How do you make captains with asymetrical features without a mod? I know how to do it in the creature creator, but I can't move limbs and extend the spine and such in the captain editor.

Actually, the asymm mod does work just fine with patch 4 and GA (when it is placed in the correct location). I have been using it successfully over the past week. Just move the mod file into the data folder within SPORE_EPI, and then restart GA.

When you want to turn off the mod, just add ".old" to the end of the asymmetry file name to inactivate, then restart GA again... and the editors will return to normal symmetry. Be aware, however, that some asymmetrical creations may save and even state that they have shared successfully, but then do not show up in the online sporepedia due to over complexity. The complexity meter in the editor doesn't always work 100% accurately when using the mod--which can be frustrating at times. But it is still nice to have the ability to use asymm in the creature editor, and a lot of the asymmetrical creations can indeed be shared and used in game without issue.

Here is an example of one I outfitted in the Captain's editor using some asymm (a blade in one hand, and missile launcher hidden in the other), and have shared to the online sporepedia successfully...

Thanks krakenmk That's good to know. I knew about the complexity thingy though, it's quite annoying hehe.

one of the most dissappointing thing is that MAXIS, hasn't released one themselves.

The patch is patch 5 which is currently only available for Windows (if my memory serves me right). I suppose using the mod is okay now, but IDK why since Maxis has given us asymmetry.

To get the patch, you just open Spore and it will tell you that updates are available for download (but only if - I think - you have the EA Download Manager installed).

No more need for discussion here.
