I just got a new laptop that I want to install spore on however I don't want the securom that comes with it.

If I install a pirated version but log in with the account that I legitimately paid for can I still access the sporepedia?

No.

And this is a really stupid thing to ask on an official forum. :V

May be stupid, but what other choice did EA leave her/him?

Click Here if you have had problems with the DRM/SecuROM. Theses are current class-action lawsuits in the process of gathering evidence to sue EA Games.

it does work. just enter you reg code when you start up the game. I purchased the game for download but it was taking FOREVER so I got it off torrents in 2 hours (as opposed to 9 from the legitimate retailer). Install it like normal and then enter the code they gave you when you purchased. Should work. it did for me

Even if the supposed "better" copy had a Trojan .......SO WHAT the legit version has Securom. Whats the difference? though I dont see why the underground would screw with its so called clientele that way. Though I could picture EA releasing the so called virus versions into the wild.

I love the uninformed. They make me laugh when they bring a Mac into my store asking me to fix it.

Avast! Antivirus installed and I haven't gotten a virus in over a year. It's not an issue of Mac's having no viruses, it's that viruses are usually only made for PC's as there's more of them. :U

I'd rather build my own comp with the same, if not better, system specs as a Mac for a lot less money and risk getting the viruses.

Wait, so are you saying these people had virus's on their Mac's?

I will say though that one problem seems to come up again and with my Macs over the years is volume corruption and drive failure. This has subsided somewhat since OSX but I suspect it's something intrinsic to the Mac filesystem. But this may be because i'm constantly writing/reading large files to disk.

This thread should be in the spore help forum, but i'll answer the question.

A downloaded and cracked installation of spore can use the sporepedia as long as you use a legit cd key.
