Well I just re-installed Spore onto my computer after not playing it for a couple years and I need to patch my game to the most recent version, so when spore asks me if I want to update to the latest version of spore I click yes but once it finishes installing, when I go and try to run spore I get a 1004 error. I re-install my game and try again but I get the same 1004 error.

I just need to know what I should do to fix this or else I'm stuck with version 1.00.00 of Spore. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

Dude, would you like to be treated this way? Why waste the guy's time. That's just taunting and you don't want any criticism in your mod thread.

@Daleksax :: I worked through this error just recently. Spore does some very odd error checking, and this error comes up when Spore doesn't find a runtime file it wants -- whether a language package or something related to running under emulation.

That's why the advice to reinstall keeps coming up. Spore has a tendency to install differently with each install, even on the same machine. I know it shouldn't, but there are a number of factors that affect why that happens.

ISometimes it has to do with EA's Origin downloader faliing to include the correct language packs with the game -- in the last couple times it skipped the providing the english directories because the person lived in Japan or Korea. Once the english language packs were given to it, the game ran fine.

You don't say how you are installing, so I just (perhaps wrongly) assumed you are using the DVD. If it's a download, let me know.

You also didn't tell us what OS you're running. We may need to know that too.

This thread is where we found answers for the other two guys running into this.

Since you've uninstalled and reinstalled a couple times, before you reinstall again I would manually Deauth, uninstall, Clean the registry and reinstall.

There are instructions for that in the first stickied thread in the help section.

Also, use google to search for solutions, the search here doesn't work.

Let me know about he OS and if it's telling you what file it can't find (sometimes it does, sometimes not).

Reinstalling seems to be the most consistent fix. But *shakes head* you've been there.

Breathe out, so I can breathe you in, hold you in. MinionJoe, grá mo chroí.
