Ok I think Maxis and EA should make a sequal to SPORE. In SPORE 2 they should use everything they had in the 2005 version of SPORE. This video was fanmade.

VOTE IN THE POLL!

DONT POST COMMENTS IF YOU DID NOT VOTE

If yes is voted 100% we might get a spore2 with everything the 2005 spore had.

I don't believer that a Spore 2 should be made because, even though it would be fun to see the new stuff, we'd all loose our accounts. We'd have to completely restart. What Maxis needs to do instead is start making free downloadable updates to the game, a new set of hands there, a new eye there, and so on and so forth.

Maxis have abbandonned spore. Absolutely nothing to do with spore will ever come out again. In other words, you made this thread a couple years late.

I don't think there should be another Spore. Just new stuff for the current one. I'd like to see the option to be able to make your race aquatic instead of terrestrial.

While it is certainly within the realm of possibility to link accounts across games, Another 'Spore 2' thread is, sadly, not going to change anything. IMO, with the abomination that was Dark Spore, perhaps it's better if Maxis/EA DON'T mess with the Spore formula anymore.

Now, if they were to decide to sell the idea to.... oh, Valve, or about any other dev besides EA, then it might be worth talking about again.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "Spore 2".
I'd probably vote "no" if you mean a new game where you evolve creatures and build a civilization.
OTOH, the space stage could be interesting - perhaps something like a watered-down version of EVE (it's too complex IMHO).
But if I could design my own spacecraft - making tradeoffs between weapons, armor, and other gear - and then fly it around doing battle and mining asteroids, that would be cool.

However, the main thing I'd like to see is new parts for the editors.
I think EA is missing an opportunity here.
The Spore editors are fairly intuitive and relatively easy to use. Yet they allow quite complex 3D creations to be developed.
The Spore editors are affordable fun-to-use 3D editors!
And GA lets you do limited video game creation.
I think EA could make a few enhancements and sell the editors as a 3D art and video game development tool.
The main thing I see missing is a way to export the creations in industry standard formats.

Who's to say a hypothetical sequel would not have the ability to transfer old creations over?

I realize that EA has basically abandoned Spore, but I still think it would be a good idea to put out a sequel. I think this is a great creative tool that could still be improved.

If not Spore 2, then it might be worth their time to put out small downloadable expansions, like parts packs for say $5 to $15 per pack. This would be in-line with the business model that App creators employ for iPads and Androids. I think it would be easily worth their time and effort to put out new parts, new adventures, new ...

Some have mentioned the idea that they should put out parts for free, but there is no business incentive for them to do that. There isn't enough business generated from Spore to continue supporting, especially this way. That's why companies abandon their products.

A more viable substitute for this might be to enable users to create new parts themselves, like Bethesda has done with the Elder Scrolls series (Morrowind, Oblivion, etc.). In order to do this effectively, they would have to enable mods to be allowed in their Sporepedia. I know there are already mods out there, but the creations can't be shared in the same way as the regular game.

Open up the site to allow modding, then let the fans do what they love to do.

EA should just sell the Spore franchise. Profit + Laziness + Continuation of the series = everyone's happy

Of course, this idea is horribly flawed and i'm sure there's an obvious mistake I missed that create a reason why EA won't sell it. Probably because they're EA.

Yeah, Spore is programmed to run on computers with singler processors, but computers now run with multiple processors, so it isn't wise to update Spore now.

A Spore 2 is best, but the issue with that is that we'd loose all of our accounts, saves and creations, and me, being the nostalgia-loving type of guy I am, along with many others, would hate that. So we should be able to "import" our accounts, saves and creations into Spore 2, so we can continue using them with Spore 2. Maxis could even get Spore 2 to share to the Sporepedia we have now, and we could even download Spore 1 creations into Spore 2. Sure, it'll take some work on their part, but hey, it was done with Mass Effect.

Sadly, Maxis is working on Simcity (which looks like its going to suck, IMHO. Automatic roads and always online? NO!), so a Spore 2 won't come for a while. But who knows? People asked for a new Simcity game, and they're getting it. So if we ask enough, we may get a Spore 2.

Another thing is that I don't think it'll be called Spore 2. The name just sounds too generic for a sequel. Seeing as this is sci-fi and Maxis love easter eggs, I think it should be called something like "Spore: The Next Evolution" or "Spore: The Galaxy Strikes Back."

EDIT: Plus, if we get a new Spore game, literally hundreds of thousand of player would come back.

There's too much conceptual brilliance in Spore to let it all go untapped forever. I can guarantee that, even if EA decides never to do anything with the Spore franchise or technology again (which would likely be a mistake), there will be signs of Spore influence in games for years to come.

If there is a "Spore 2" I actually hope it's not a direct sequel; there's a reputation associated with the original Spore that would tend to lock out some less-explored possibilities for the technology and core concepts.

I doubt it. It'll probably just be the same basic thing with different (hopefully better) mechanics. That is how a sequel to a sandbox game should be done anyway. I'm not sure about the Grox, though. That would be a bit odd to put into a sequel. Maybe set it before or after them? Or just at the exact same time?

I don't think they will, but guys, this game in general was not abandoned 2 years ago as some of you are saying. Darkspore came out last year. Just last year. It's not like we've been sitting here with nothing having to do with Spore for 3 years. So it's in the realm of possibility, but not as likely as some may want.

I do not think a SPORE 2 is a good idea, but I do think that having some SPORE 2005 stuff is a great idea. Maxis should make a money costing add on that includes parts, like more weapons and wings, aquatic stage, and the ability to create underwater civilizations.
