Step aside North Carolina, your legal vendetta against the forces of nature has been out-stupid-ed by the great state of Texas.

While the headline may sound like something out of an Onion article, it is tragically all too true.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/27/texas-republican-party-2012-platform-education_n_1632097.html?utm_hp_ref=fb&src=sp&comm_ref=false

Texas GOP wrote:Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority.

So while the other 49 strive to develop critical thinking skills and an inquisitive mind, Texas will be working on their army of communist labor drones that would make Stalin jealous.

That is of course if they graduate from a Texas high school, which only 61% of students there manage to do.

So hats off to Texas. While other states are futilely trying to banish the forces of physics through law, you've decided to attack the problem at its source: people smart enough to understand things.

I don't believe it.

What are they trying to do with this? At least NC is trying to protect business venture; this doesn't seem to have any benefit.

95% of teens today would die if their social network died. Copy and paste this into your sig if you're one of the 5% that would laugh like hell. 残酷天使のテーゼ

OFFS! Let's pitch the humanities, philosophy and arts and bust out the hemlock boys. We don't need no Sock-ray-tease in Tejas.

Although I'm guessin' that funny business with that hand on the knee there ain't gonna fly here neither.

Not to mention all those boys in dresses. Not in this here Alamo.

Don't worry, all those uneducated kids won't be voting in the future.

They're banning that too.

This does not make any sense.

In their report they say critical thinking is bad but then.

"We strongly encourage the federal government and NASA to work with American citizens and American businesses to research and develop a new vehicle to continue human space flight and maintain American’s leadership in space exploration"

Person 1: Why that cardboard box seems nice for space travel.

Person 2: Wonderful i cant be critical of it or understand why its a bad idea

Texas GOP wrote:Judeo-Christian Nation – As America is a nation under God founded on Judeo-Christian principles, we affirm the constitutional right of all individuals to worship in the religion of their choice.

"You are free worship what you like but we'll make sure you know it's wrong."

Texas GOP wrote:Controversial Theories – We support objective teaching and equal treatment of all sides of scientific theories. We believe theories such as life origins and environmental change should be taught as challengeable scientific theories subject to change as new data is produced. Teachers and students should be able to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of these theories openly and without fear of retribution or discrimination of any kind

Knowledge of what a scientific theory is: strictly optional. But hey, teachers are able to discuss things openly at least...

Texas GOP wrote:American Identity Patriotism and Loyalty – We believe the current teaching of a multicultural curriculum is divisive. We favor strengthening our common American identity and loyalty instead of political correctness that nurtures alienation among racial and ethnic groups. Students should pledge allegiance to the American and Texas flags daily to instill patriotism.

Oh wait...

But Didzo, parental authority is important. Your parent's views are always the best ones.

Why do I hear "As long as ya'll are unda mah roof...."?

This just gives parental idiocy the weight of law. Somehow I suspect sparing the rod was never went out of fashion there.

And I thought Sotuh Korea was stupid. They're not banning thinking, they're just banning one of the most solid theories out there.

While labeling it as the banishment of thinking is a little extreme, banning Higher-Order Thinking Skills education is idiotic. I'd be curious to know by what logic they came up with this plan.

Logic is not to be used in Texas.
