Ok so I have noticed that a lot of people just have a few soldier variants for their empires in adventures. Usually just the soldier, the commander, and the elite variant. Well post other variants here! Help give spore military tips!

Here's some of my tips.

Trooper aka Soldier: the basic soldier unit

Berserker: lightly armed unit

General: Leader of army or squadron

Commander: Leader of army or squadron. This one is outranked by the General though

The original berserkers were very LIGHTLY armoured. That was the whole point. They could charge in with heavy weaponry and light on defense because they fought with complete disregard for their personal protection, and didn't appear to feel the damage taken.

There are some lovely and reasonably accurate descriptions of military organization -- and of more than just romanized western structures -- on wikipedia.

I also like the Historium forum for additional insight, especially of eastern european, middle eastern and north african units of war and stratagem.
