I want input on what kinds of contests people would like to see. Let me know what your ideas are, whether template, theme, series, etc.

If you have a template you think would make for a good Template Contest (or an idea for one), post it. If you don't want to host it yourself, I'll consider hosting it for you.

For my next one, I was thinking of a pre-Tribal creature that looks like it's carrying weapons. What do you think? Here's one of mine to demo the idea.

What exactly do you mean by creative contests? That could go a lot of ways.

There never was a thread. Essentially, Tars and I wanted to make up a new contest. After a some research on the current big contests, we thought of making a contest where the contestants needed to make anything foot-related. We called it the GTFootChallenge. So, yes. I've also hosted the spaceship head contest. By original, I mean things never done before, like an inspiration challenge baased off of bodily fluids (just an example). Anyway, there are many ways that could go.

Thanks for the input. I think we can try some out like that.

I'm a bit disappointed with the number of entries in the Complete the Creature: Ethereal Energy Contest. I really expected more people to get into that one. That's why I started it after I'd already started the Dwizzon Template and Bug Builder Contests. Those didn't seem to be attracting much attention, so I thought something a little more elaborate might attract more participants.

As it turned out, I got 4 entries in that one and huge numbers in the others. While I think the entries received were really great, I was really surprised that there weren't more.

Anyone have any ideas why?

Also, I only got two voters on that one. I like a lot of opinions to be voiced. It makes the competition and final result more meaningful. Any ideas about how to encourage the community to vote?

Anyway, thank you all for being out here in the Sporum and making the creative process more fun. I'll try to put any ideas you guys give into practice in future contests.

I wish I would have had the time to join your bug builder contest as I thought it leaves a lot opportunity to make something original.
I did join the template contests as with my limited time it was just perfect.
About the template contests I can only say what I think. I prefer templates who are simple with less parts as you can add more parts on your own.
There were many great ideas for contests, like the carnivorous plant contest by God-mod or the vegetable warrior contest by Lord_Srit which I thought were a unique ideas, however they all had trouble to get entries.
I believe this is a result of so many creators leaving Spore. It's just how it is. I've heard it wasn't like this a year ago. Too bad that was before I have joined my first contest.

What I'd like to see? Hm, I don't know. I saw many people asking on the vegetable warrior contest if fruits are allowed as well. Maybe a fruit cake contest? okay, just kidding. I think every original idea will get some entries. You did a good job in hosting your contest, so maybe next time you'll have more luck. The only thing I would change: don't make a voting who should win. You should judge on your own or ask and pick a few judges right from the beginning.

oh and what I want to add is: create-offs are fun, but the last three I have joined died of various reasons. Sometimes people join, then forget to make the entry. Sometimes the host just stopps looking after his own contest. So, if this happens every time, you don't see any reason to join the next create-off. Just saying...

I have to say my favorite contest of all time (even though it was only the first one I had entered) was kamitue's Battlfield2012 contest. The storyline and back-and-forth style combined to make a very fun contest that I really enjoyed. I would like to see some more of that sort of thing.
