Ok, I'm running Spore on OS X 10.7.4, on a macbook pro. I've got the BAD_DATA glitch that a lot of other people seem to have, but the problem is this: none of the fixes provided so far work! When I try to rename the shortcut, it doesn't let me use that name. I can't find the various files people tell you to change in Finder, and setting the location on my mac made no difference!

Hey man I had the same problem, I tried the workarround of going to config and change the las sentence but didn't work, so I look some posts here and found that what's happening is that you (and I) dont have the "name generation package" in that folder but it is somewhere in the folder:

SPORE (you open it by secundary clickin on it and click show package content)>contents>resources>transgamming

I would like to tell you where is exactly but cince is copy-paste it on almost every fricking folder XD I don´t remembre where it was at first, thats the step 2, ones you locate "name generation.package" just copy paste it on the folders, English.lproj on the resources folder and in SPORE>contents>resources>transgamming> c_drive>spore>data>locale>en-us AND just in case paste it every where XD (that's what I did) thats should solve your bad data problem, hope the help you =)

I had a look around and it turns out there's a much easier fix than the common ones. The only problem is that the 'library' folder the right files are under is hidden, so you have to use some command in the Terminal to make it appear. Thanks for the advice, and I'm glad you managed to sort the problem out yourself!

Kinda makes you wonder how this got past testing though...

1) It's a Mac. I'm sorry to say, but Spore was probably barely tested on a Mac.

2) This is Spore we're talking about. It has problems when trying to save, never mind doing anything else.
