Now I don't know if this will work, but some of you who are near their unreachable planets might try this. I noticed the other night when I was flying to one of my worlds that when I clicked on a different star at full speed I was slingshotted around the star in very different path than my original path. So I'm wondering if you could slingshot yourself around another star that was nearby and that might put you in range to then click on the Grox planet and fly there.

Like I said I don't know if it would work or not, but if it hasn't been tried it's probably worth a shot.

If I ever decide to go play with the Grox I'll try it myself but I'm having too much fun delivering spice to my colonies.

I have heard that idea before, but lets say it is possible then you still will have a problem because you now are stuck at that planet and if you manage to die you will revive at the planet because its the nearest.

Shamans can use the teleport thingy and get back to the homeworld, but there isn't any other options.

you respawn at your nearest colony, so just make sure not to capture the system you were stuck on and you would respawn somewhere else.

Can't you just terraform it but not put a colony on it, then die. That way you wouldn't have a place to rez on the planet, you'd go to the next closest colony.

Seriously I'm just asking, I don't know if you could or couldn't.

You can, sorry my mistake.

If you inadvertently did colonise it... could you planetbust your own colony to get out of the hole you'd dug yourself?

No need to waste a planet buster, just destroy the town hall. POOF no more colony.

Sometimes you can actually get to the star system that is just beyond the ring of travel you have. Just hover over it and if it goes green, you can get there. I've been to almost every star system in the galaxy already and have yet to find one I couldn't get to using normal methods of transportation.

We Are Carnevil. You will be annihilated. Resistance will give us excitement, so please... Resist

Yeah, except you need a couple thousand planet busters to beat the grox.

You are diety-like in your patience, Spodian. I once thought to myself, "I'm going to travel to the tip of this spiral arm and explore the whole spiral arm. I got about 10% of the way and got bored with it.

I don't believe that you have been to every star in the galaxy if you have not found a star that you could not reach.
there are plenty of systems that lie between spiral arms that are out of reach even with an interstellar drive 5.

the slingshot method does not work either unfortunately because the game calculates the distance to the target based on the last system you clicked on, not your current position. this is programmed for just such an instance that we are discussing. if you could sling shot to distant systems then you would get stuck all the time and have to reset and possibly have to delete that game if you saved in a bad position. no slingshoting means not getting stuck on a distance system.

in the off chance you get a bug and you do slingshot to a new system then don't save your game or you may end up with an unplayable game.

On another note, assuming you did manage to get yourself stuck on an "unreachable" system, how would you get out?

I suppose you could use all your tools until you run out of energy and then just fly around until you explode. Yes, you will explode after a while if you run with 0 energy.

Or, you could de-terraform a planet to T0 and then just fly low and try to hit the geysers until you're dead.

Anyone else have any ideas? This could potentially be fun.

What happens if you use a planet buster and stay on the planet? haven't used one yet though I have a few...
