While trying to get this game to work on my Mac Pro I was advised one solution was to trash the games preferences folder which I did but it did not help. I then decided on a whim to see what exactly was in the preferences folder thinking I might find a solution to my problems. What I found was a folder called wineserver with my user name and other text. Using Google I looked up wineserver and found this definition: "wineserver is a daemon process that provides to Wine roughly the same services that the Windows kernel provides on Windows. It is normally launched automatically when starting Wine, so you shouldn't have to worry about it. In some cases however, it can be useful to start wineserver explicitly." In other words it seems EA is using an emulator program that supposedly fools the game into thinking it's running on a Windows machine. There is a program out there called Crossover that uses a program called wine, of which wineserver is a part, for this very purpose but it only works on certain programs such as word processors and spreadsheets. I know because I tried to use it to run The Sims 3 and it would not run. If this is the case it does not bode well for a Mac fix. I think EA prefers you to either get and Xbox or a Wintel system to run this game. I hope I am wrong for everyone's sake.

Well I have a mac book pro, lion, and spore works PERFECTLY on it. The sims....eh, I still have trouble with that.

The only solution I've found works is to use CrossOver which is based on Wine. Until the developers abandon this cheap way of writing a program and start over using the code Apple recommends this the only thing for some Mac users that works.
