I would give an longer OP, but this is a sandbox RP. The main goal of this RP is to basically write out our own mythology, and record it all on a wiki. Here is a basic introduction of how this will work.
You will make a character, a god with a certain trait. You will first work together to make your world as you see fit, with political conflicts as this happens. Then, you will run this world, slowly molding your mythology.
This is more of a project than an RP, so lets get started!

Name: Black Reaper (Or Grim Reaper, whichever you want)
Trait: Death, and transporting mortals, halfblooded, and one some occasions, the weaker gods to wherever they deserve to go. Can kill with a touch, and never fights. EVER.
Gender: Male
Essences: The scythe.

He is untouchable by the living and the dead, and is one of the most powerful gods one can meet. However, unlike most gods, he never speaks, and is very docile. He is also very sympathetic and empathetic. He fells sorry for those who have died. The tunnel of light most people see is basically a tunnel, except, Death escorts them down the tunnel, showing them their memories, and basically showing them why the deserve to go where they go. When people nearly die, and their life flashes before their eyes, it is death himself. They actually die, but as Death shows them their memories, and sometimes decides to let them have another chance. In doing so, he lets them go back to the land of the living (Meaning AED's are a lie! Electricity doesn't jumpstart your heart!). One power that only he has is that a single touch from a mortal will kill them, and it can weaken other gods. But again, he doesn't fight.

How about you change your name. Something like Necron or Mortem or something other than just "Death"

Sorry to intrude, but I get that is a "God Game" type of roleplay. but doesn't Death seem kind of... OP?

I'm thinking about it... It doesn't seem overpowered, it just needs a better name.
No creatures have been made yet, so you have no race or animal yet.
Lastly, since you are simply god of death, you have a limited ability to make a race or animal.

Exactly, it's a trade off. All my character is, is a voice of reason between gods, and the one who transports the dead to their rightful places. Plus, his weapon is the scythe, which, in his case harvests souls.

Oh, my bad.

I wouldn't be so...
Cliche'd. He is more of a transporter than a harvester, so how about he has a signature chariot or something? He is a peaceful judge, so he could have judges robes rather than general the general hood. Rather than a skull, he could appear as a freshly dead man, just pale.
(They don't really need appearances, just signature stuff.)

If you looked at the picture I had if him, he doesn't actually have a face to show. Just pure blackness. He also has Skelton wings, an hourglass, and a bone scythe. He is different than the original grim reaper. I don't see why it would matter that much though.

I just don't really want people drawing from existent mythology...
Make your character from scratch, full of specific symbolism for your views of what death is.

Xasthur formed from the essence-infused mixture of both Life and Death while the unstable balance between the two were waging war before life could form properly. His mind is infested... infused with the knowledge of every potential thing to exist to freely flow through his mind. He created the Arcane Magics from the knowledge of using the very energy in the air itself and manifest it as Arcane magic.
