This is a place I basically have made for people who have questions and people who have answers.

This is a place for people who need help/advice with computers. Anyone can ask, anyone can answer.

Eh, there are actual forums for this sort of thing populated by a multitude of geeks who live for that moment they can post an answer to someone's question.

I put bologna in my DVD drive.

Wat do.

You should go flip through the help section, most people there have no idea what they're doing with this witch-box we call a computer.

maybe a general computer thread sticky in the help section would be warranted. A good chunk of the problems people are having are larger hardware/software issues not exclusive to the Spore software.

I've searched a lot for this problem, but nothing has worked.

I am running Windows 7, and Spore won't work.

However, it worked before...

I installed it, played it, everything was great. Closed it. Started it up again, played it everything was great.
Basically it was fine for a little while. Now, out of the blue, I start it up, and the screen goes black, and the cursor changes to the blue spore one, but that's all that happens, nothing else.

Any advice? Have tried many things...

P.S. At first, I installed spore, played it, and put the graphics to the max. Exited. Upon reloading it, it gave me this problem. So I re-installed it, and made the graphics medium this time. It fixed the problem, or at least temporarily, because now the error is back, but after some time.

How long are you letting it run? My computer takes ten minutes or more to launch the game and often sits on a black screen the whole time.

Hm, maybe I'll try to just let it run out then...

I let it run for a while, I'll try even longer though, but that doesn't seem to be the problem.

Try shoving all the work on a single processor. Any single choice will do, other than processor 0, where windows tries to keep most of it's own execution threads (they know what lost threads are all about LOL!

It changes startup on my quad quad machine from 25 minutes to under 2 minutes.

Breathe out, so I can breathe you in, hold you in. MinionJoe, grá mo chroí.

How do I do that?
