No. Why? Imagine if I was able to edit your post into a collection of every swear word on the dictionary!

Absolutely not. The whole place would degenerate even worse with little holy wars about "what I really said before you changed my post to be all about bronies and now I'm BANNED! WAAAAAH!"

I guess you're right. That would be pretty bad. But I suppose the mods would have to be able to see what you have changed were this real, and could ban you for doing so.

And even though it would only apply in your own thread, it would still be hard to keep people in line. Dang, now you've made me want to change my vote.

Nope. Forums don't keep delta, only the last version and the last modded by user and timestamp.

And if the mods have to follow the changes anyway, to make sure they are legit, it's just as easy to PM and ask them to close the thread.

This doesn't sound like a good idea, as anyone can create a topic, yet not everyone is suitable to moderate.

You can always contact a SporeMaster if you want your topic locked, spam/off-topic stuff removed, or are experiencing a rough time with a certain user. They usually act at a decent speed, even more taking into consideration they are volunteer workers.

This is one of the worst ideas I've heard in a while.

That is what we have SporeMasters for.

I have to agree with ashkelon on this one. Just not a good idea personally, not meaning to be offensive I just could see plenty of stuff going wrong there.

Being able to lock your own thread could work, but anything else would...not end well.

Yeah, I would lock my threads so people could see the amazingness of my posts, but no one could spam it.
And maybe unlocking too.

SM's would still be lock, unlock, and edit your threads you know.

Oh yeah, that's a fantastic idea. I can't imagine anything going wrong with this plan.
