For the Octillionth time D:<

APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE INSTEAD OF WANTING WHAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN AND WHINE AND COMPLAIN EVERY POSSIBLE MOMENT.

Spore was brilliant, and still is brilliant. YOU GUYS, THE WHINERS just need to SHUT YOUR MOUTHS. It could have been roughly ten times as worse as it is now. We're actually lucky that it even got released AT ALL.

So quit complaining and get along with your lives. Like some random person said:

You know, RocketGirl, maybe someday a company like Stardock, a serious company that respect its customers, will make a game like the one we all want.

For now I'll be happy never wasting my money again in any EA made game.

Yeah...I'm awfully glad the Founding Fathers, Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, and Ellen DeGeneres never thought this way...

"Appreciate what you have instead of wanting what it could have been..." sh-yeah, right!

Spore was brilliant, and still is brilliant. YOU GUYS, THE WHINERS just need to SHUT YOUR MOUTHS.

Ohh, you really just convinced me; I'll shut up now. UH-huh.

It could have been roughly ten times as worse as it is now.

THAT'S the best you can come up with? Seriously?
It could have been roughly a bajillion times better; why should we settle for craptacular, whether it could have been worse or not?

We're actually lucky that it even got released AT ALL.

Yeah...but that luck was the bad kind.

The problem is that Spore has become a coloring book instead of a chemistry set

I've made multiple posts that aren't complaints, even just today; clearly, you're not reading the threads that they're in.

And the people who are annoyed by what I have to say have the option of ignoring my posts when they see my name; I'm not forcing them to read me.

Ed, what you don't understand is that the sound we're making is not in fact static but signal.

That seems, to me, to be the opinion solely of those who have issues with my message.

Just sayin'...

The message is not the problem. The delivery is the problem. As stated before the tactic doesn't work on parents. It won't work on EA.
You become your own worst enemy, people start to ignore first you, then the issue. That is best case. Worst case they begin to actively loathe you, some of which is evidenced in this thread.

Good one to dispute. Like you, I doubt it will see air. Riccitiello has made the whole Spore and DRM thing a personal vehicle for flexing power. He did the same at Sara Lee. In fact Washington Post and Barron's cited that as one of his largest flaws. Moving into an industry he knows nothing about, then flexing pet projects. Claiming that his way is high profits, often at the expense of the consumer base (and later the company) whom are there to make the company more profits. Profits that can be reaped in 3 years what would normally take 10.

For example his public statement "We're still working out the kinks. We implemented a form of DRM and it's something that 99.8 percent of users wouldn't notice. But for the other .2 percent, it became an issue and a number of them launched a cabal online to protest against it. I personally don't like DRM. It interrupts the user experience. We would like to get around that. But there is this problem called piracy out there."

He then goes on to how EA will have no more non-internet products and that all future developments will require EADM to function (as of 2009).

In case you are curious, two tenths of a percent... from the number of people on the ign discussion boards alone. Means 2.2 million copies were sold to those folks. Exaggeration in public statements is a common faux pas of his. If I was someone looking to decide if I was going to peruse a class action against a company... I'd know it was cake once I saw this guy's history I had it made. A person whom makes a public misstatement like the above, would make any law suit cake.

Your right that being passive won't work, but pushing too hard won't work either.
Why not?

Same reason. This guy had shut down whole perspective lines and existing divisions at Wilson Sporting Goods when folks tried to tell him what to do. He's the kind of person who works with those who dole out respect. Old world, old school. If even one of the pushy posts was read, you can count it dead.

This is the CEO who wanted wiki sanitized regarding EA's past financial and court dealings.

Not saying it is right, but it is the reality of the situation. Forbes has called him an aggressive, intelligent businessman. When you swim with the corporate sharks, occasionally you run into great whites like Mr. Riccitiello.

As a heads up he also outlined how his staff are aggressively adding more in-game advertising to all future EA products. Earlier this week he was asked what sort of advertisers EA likes to work with for its in-game ads, Riccitiello said, "We would partner with anyone who writes a check."

The idea is that there would be huge profits from a product if it sold or not. Personally after a lot of digging when I was laid up, this is the kind of person who changes an industry. Making a lot of profits until something breaks or federal regulations stop the muggings. Timing is just bad. The FTC is looking to hang new regulations on this kind of speculation and invasions of private property.

And, once again, it's all coming from the people who disagree. Obviously, they don't like having their worldviews challenged.

Look, I frankly don't trust your motives. And even if I did, your entire case is starting to smack seriously of character assassination based on personal opinion. Either way, YOUR message isn't getting through, and WON'T if you continue. You aren't being persuasive, you're simply being abrasive; if you really believe in it, take your own advice, because I'm quite done with you.

Game stores in general are having tough times. Combine a crappy economy with a well-deserved reputation for crappy customer service, and you have many more people either just pirating games or buying them online.

If a game doesn't come out on Steam or Impulse, then I preorder it from Amazon.com. That's just the way it works. In all cases, I don't have to pay sales tax or shipping and the customer service is far better than going to the local Gamestop and being prodded to buy a magazine subscription.
