Ash, It is how you emphasize your sharing as a major act of kindness (paraphrased, but it is what you say, not what I am reading into it) combined with the Spore Fashionista comments that come off as derogatory and unnecessary. Don't get me wrong I have no problem with you or your opinion on this issue, as far as I can tell you are one of the nicest people on this forum, but It seems you have an opinion of the anti-plagiarism side that borders on hate (b'stards as you say), and it all seems unnecessary, particularly because we don't have a problem with your approach at all (all of the negative comments have been about the plagiarizers, not the sharers).

That being said, this is tiresome and pretty much pointless, particularly because I am really quite apathetic to the plagiarism thing anymore. Let us just agree to disagree as Parka said.

you're probably going to think i am another one of these.

my wife did graphic arts in the late 80's and early 90's.
many times we would see her work somewhere, and in the place where she had placed her initials, someone had put their own.
no other changes, just the identifier that said she made it.

this irritated us quite a bit, to put it mildly.

we even tracked a couple of the people down that did it and gave them a good tongue lashing.

she didn't care if people passed her art around, she just didn't like that they had tried to pass it off as their own creation.

eventually this became so common that we just stopped trying to find the thieves, and let it go.

we never did get to the point that it didn't bother us, she even went through a period of great sadness over it, but it was one of those things we just could not stop.

eventually she went back to creating her art, but i think that the experience with the thieves took allot of the joy out of giving her art to people.
it left a deep mark on her.

it seems that it is part of the online world, and i don't know what to do about it, other than just carry on.

That is an entirely different issue to Spore.

I have a degree in Fine Arts. And I've been a contract artist and performer for my entire life.

So I do understand the distinction.

However. When I do contract art for a company, most of the time after they pay for it, unless the contract states otherwise, they can use my work on toilet paper with a picture of Paris Hilton on top -- and that's perfectly allowed, because they paid me and I sold it.

Spore is a game about SHARING content.

This is clearly stated.

WHat content would be shared other than creations?
