Just a reminder, we are no longer accepting characters.
In the land of Minecraftia, There is a legend, about a dimension, completely opposite to the nether, full of clouds that you can land on, creatures that fly like dragons, and an endless sky.
You are an average minecrafter, living in various towns, or by yourself, like most minecrafters.
You have heard of this legend, and wish to investigate it.
You must go to the nether to get the glowstone needed to make a portal to the realm.
However, all the nether portals were completely obliterated.
So you must work your way up, getting the tools and materials needed to make one.
There are two continents, one is called Excoria, the other is Sheko.
If you live in a town, you have a full set of wooden tools, and a little gold, about 2 peices, which is currency.
If you live alone, you have nothing, and must mine and craft your first tools and such, like when you start a new minecraft world.
Aether city: a city in the sky, supported by thick cobblestone pillars, the only way to the ground is by a water elevator.
Creepertown: Here Minecrafters co-exist with hostile mobs like creepers, skeletons, and spiders. However, there are many rouges, and you may get blown up, shot with an arrow, have your brains eaten, or be stripped of all your flesh if you are cornered in a dark alley. Continent: Sheko
Savar: A town a few miles away from the shore of Excoria, which foucuses on fishing, and is in charge of the shipping of that fish to the rest of the towns. Only way to get to is is by boat. (credit to psherman for the idea)
Queeds: a large coastal town, is the main port for all trade and fishing vessels. Queeds is often used as a shelter when a large storm hits and the Savar villagers need to get to saftey. Queeds itself is bursting with culture, as many traders flock here to sell their wares. It is a must-see destination for all mariners, as there is no other sea-side town like it for miles, and is a nessecity for restocking the ship on long voyages.(credit to psherman as well)
Alderwood forest: A sprawling series of treehouses, on top of Alderwood forest, the largest forest in Minecraftia. Spans many biomes, so some treehouses recieve snow, while others recieve rain. If you are under the canopy, you would not be able to tell it is a city aside for the many ladders leading to the forest floor. Villagers travel by minecart tracks across the trees.
Ironflame: The city is rich in iron, and is a must see for those low on it. The prices are high, as 10 Iron ingots costs 2 gold ingots. There is a building, which is like a laundromat, execpt the villagers go there to smelt things. The town Acts as a minecart hub for Sheko, and has tracks leading to Creepertown, Alderwood forest, the entrance to Colville, Starter beach, and Frexor.
Toria: The great city near the mountians of the dwarves, Toria is home to one of the largest gold and lapis mines in minecraftia, they make alot of money off of their lapis and gold exports. A few buildings are made into the mountians and flat areas are used for marketplaces and farming. (credit to spinus)
Frexor: a coastal town, near the Frozen sea. Is ruled by chickens, and is the site of the famous underground bank.
Has a small pointless lighthouse, a few wooden houses, minecart tracks leading to the chicken lord's tower, and a well, that leads to bedrock level. It is a common sight to see chickens in the streets.
Colville: An underground town, at almost bedrock level, which is the main source of Diamonds and Redstone.
However, nobody is allowed to have the diamonds, not even the miners, because they are shipped to the rest of Minecraftia. Unless the person has a full set of golden armor and tools. Most houses are completely reliant on redstone circuts.
Starter beach: A small village a on the opposite side of the ocean from Queeds, Most new minecrafters come here to learn about the world. Has a building which teaches you the basics.
Chicken lord's tower: Completely made of stone, it touches the sky limit, and highly guarded by a lava moat, a chicken pit, a terribly difficult jumping puzzle, and a piston crushing hallway, but nobody knows which one it is. All defenses, besides the lava moat, witch is around the tower, are on different floors. If you get to the top, if the chicken lord is not there, you are teleported back to the front door, but if the chicken lord is there, he will turn you into a chicken. There is no escaping this, so it is advised to stay away from there.
The Great Ocean: A large ocean, in between the two large continents of the flat world of Minecraftia. even has an edge which touches the far lands.
The Frozen sea: Takes up a significant portion of the Great Ocean.
Bone field: a small field, covered in flowers and tall grass, between the chicken lord's tower, and Frexor. the minecart tracks leading between the two locations pass through here. Also has a higher skeleton spawn rate than other locations, so most people a full of arrows if they travel there during the night.
Mountains of the dwarves: The dwarves live here, doing the things they do best.
Name: You can do a first and last, but last names are optional.
Gender: Not everybody in minecraftia is a guy.
Appearance: Remember, this is minecraft, so your person is blocky and the same size as everybody else. Be sure to mention clothes, and eye color, hair, etc.
City or town: Optional. Choose one from the list above.
History: Is your character a newb, or an experienced minecrafter?
1. Basic rp rules, no gmodding, metagaming, etc. You cannot find diamonds within a few posts, you know.
2. You can have character interaction, and two chars can even live together, if they both agree.
3. You start with 2 pieces of gold if you live in a town.
4. There is no number 4.
5. This rp is on normal difficulty, so if a creeper is right next to you and blows up, you die.
6. This is minecraft, so if you die, you respawn in the town you live in, or at Starter beach if you built your own house, witch brings us to rule 7.
7. If you choose a town, you house acts as your spawn point, but if you choose to build your own house, you respawn at starter beach, unless you craft a bed and sleep in it.
8. This rp is played in Minecraft 1.0.
9. Do not make a nether portal unless I say you can, and if you have a diamond pick.
Rules 6 and 7 are kinda the same...
See below post for list of chars.
The lines between towns are minecart tracks.
The Black Border is the far lands, Meaning this minecraftia is smaller than others.
It is still exceedingly large, and boat or minecart (Over the frozen sea) rides over the ocean takes a few days to complete.
Please note that if you ask to be a moderator, you won't get to be one.
The moderators are the people who are in charge here if I am gone.
If they notice someone breaking the rules, they can ban them from this roleplay.
GAME MODS: Aether mod
Plane mod (not without permission, and if you have the materials)
All information regarding the overworld is meaningless.
We are now in the Aether itself, with a small camp on a sky-island, and all seven characters are there.
As more people come, more houses will need to be built, therefore turning the camp into a village, then a town, then a city, etc.
You cannot explore outside the current sky-island until I say so, which will be when my character will do so.
You also cannot bring any things from the overworld with you, unless it is something of sentimental value, and if I allow it. Bows are almost required, bring one of those too.
If you have any questions, ask them.
This thread in the MC forums will be helpful, if you don't know about the mod.
This one is better, as it is for the latest version. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/893629-100-aether-v104-01-launch-bug-fixed-bug-fixes-crystal-trees-enchanted-grass-white-apples/
However, there will be no Christmas Trees or any other of the Christmas-themed items. It's just not realistic.
Or you could google "Aether mod" and look at videos on the subject. I recommend AntVenom's videos, or maybe BlueXephos's.

Aether stage OP:
You, along with your six friends, have made it to the Aether, after a year of looking for Glowstone.
You and your friends have established a camp, with seven tents/shacks total.
The portal you took to get here has broken, so people can go from the regular world to the Aether, but not the other way around.
You have no supplies other than a bow, and a few miscellaneous materials, such as a few blocks of Aerdirt, a Skyroot Pickaxe, etc.
11: No bringing any items from the regular world excepting a bow, or something small and of sentimental value, such as a block of dirt from the regular world to remind you of home, etc. Ask if you want something else.
12: You cannot start out with a mount. The camp has only been there for a few days, and nobody's ventured far from it, unless to gather supplies. You may find one later on, if you have a saddle or some Aechor petals.
13. Post length minimum one paragraph. That's as little as I will allow.
14. No cutting down Golden Oaks, unless I say so.
Map so far:
This is a map of only the main continent, and more will be added as the Aether is explored.
There may or may not be more important locations, I will decide that later.
Here, the cliffside is almost covered with quicksoil deposits, and it is slightly safer to harvest these, as the chances of falling to your death off the edge of the continent is less, as you will be caught by other deposits.
It is still dangerous to be here, though, as you may be shot off the edge by a Cockatrice or by CloudGhasts. (I don't know what they are called, so I just call them that.
Cockatrice forest: Cockatrices are of abundance here, hence the name, and therefore incredibly dangerous, so it is best to harvest your Skyroot logs from the trees that dot the plains.
The Golden Grove:
Home of the rarest trees in the Aether, this grove of Golden Oaks is the only of its kind on this island.
Lake Aechor: Along the shores of this large lake is the largest population of Aechor plants in the entire Aether. It is nearly impossible to obtain their petals, as they will kill you almost instantaneously.
They can kill a flying pig in seconds, these ones being older, their poisonous needles being larger and more potent.
These magnificent falls are often a mating grounds for Moas of all colors. The mist from the falls solidifies into Aercloud, which makes it difficult to get to the water.
The falls are presumably fed by an underground river, which, in turn, is fed by Lake Aechor.
Icestone pond: A large pond that was formed in an Icestone deposit, therefore freezing the water.
Main Camp: The camp where all seven characters live, with seven shacks/ tents.
Your character may live in either.
The portal is also here, but has become broken, in a way, so that people can go into the Aether, but nobody can go out.
