Becoming a Spore Time Traveler is easy, just enter a creation in one of the following categories and you’re in!



Prehistoric

Creature Editor: Dinosaurs & Cavemen (B-Movie style - we don’t mind that cavemen didn’t exist when dinos did) No Ice Age creatures. You can make cavemen, cavewomen, cavechildren, T-Rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Brontosaurus, Pteranodon (flying creatures), Plesiosaur (marine creatures), and any other type of dino.

Props (Any Editor): Cave art, cave dwellings, crude weapons, crude furniture, basic huts, and the like.

Ancient: Mediterranean Greco-Roman

Creature Editor: Gladiator, statesman, philosopher, temple priestess, emperor, centurion or any other member of Greek or Roman society. You can also create mythological monsters, beasts, pets, gods and goddesses from Greek or Roman mythology.

Props (Any Editor): Any type of Greek or Roman architecture, weapons, furniture, art, or ships. Specifically props for a harbor scene.

Middle Ages: European Medieval/Renaissance

Creature Editor: Royalty, knights, knights on horseback, jousting knights, common folk, members of the court, ladies in waiting, servants, dancers, jesters, steeds, dragons, pets and the like.

Props (Any Editor): Castles, castle walls, castle gates, common homes, trebuchets, catapults, banquet tables filled with food, thrones, tapestries, medieval weapons, and any other item that comes from the middle ages. Specifically props for a tournament.

Early Modern: American Frontier Times

Creature Editor: American patriots, Native American indians, cowboys, cavalry riders on horseback, outlaws, dancing girls, male and female settlers, buffalo, wild horses, elk, long horns, prairie dogs, cattle or any other inhabitant of the Old West.

Props (Any Editor): Log cabins, ranches, tepees, western style buildings for town, canoes, horse drawn carriages, stagecoaches, pistols, cannons, bayonets, bow and arrows, and any other prop imaginable for this time period. Specifically props for an Old West Town and indian encampment.



Futuristic:

Creature Editor: Aliens, cyborgs, people in space suits, people in futuristic type clothing, people in steampunk outfits, alien pets and any other character, beast, or monster you can dream up for the future.

Props (Any Editor): Futuristic buildings, steampunk buildings, floating buildings, post apocalyptic props, space stations, satellites, futuristic cars and bikes, futuristic weapons, spaceships, and the like. Anything is possible in the future!



Time Reaper:

Sporify your favorite Historical Figure, Landmark, or Object (real or fiction) Must be a famous, easily recognizable person, place or thing; ie, Sherlock Holmes, Robin Hood, Sword in the Stone, The Holy Grail, Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, St. Basil's Cathedral, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Angkor Wat, Great Pyramid of Giza, The Sphinx, Ford Model-T, Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise, Ivan the Terrible, Genghis Khan, Attila the Hun, Pocahantas, Cleopatra, etc.*

1. Deadline: Entries will be accepted from December 23rd through January 15th at midnight EST.

Update: Entries for the Bonus Challenge Can Be Submitted until January 22 at 11:59 PM EST.

2. Maximum Number of Entries: You may enter a maximum of eight entries for all categories. Exception - unlimited entries in the Time Reaper category only.

Update 1 - clarification: The total number of allowed entries for the first five categories is eight (8) -- no more than eight entries for specific time periods. For the sixth category (Time Reaper), you can make as many entries as you wish, but only those matching the criteria for the Time Reaper category will be judged.

Update 2 - exceptions: The total number of allowed entries for the first five categories is eight (8) -- however, some exceptions exist for much needed GA prop creations. Details Here.

3. Entering Your Creation: You may enter by posting a link to your creation in this thread, or by informing one of the hosts on their contest announcement on the sporepedia. Due to the unreliability of the sporepedia search function, we must insist that all contestants provide us with the link to your entry whether you enter on the sporepedia or in the forum. (All entries will be featured in our Official Time Travelers 2011 Sporecast - see the Sporecast at:

4. Tag Your Creation: All entries must include the tag timetraveler2011. Entries will not be accepted without the tag.

5. Creations Must Be New: Only new creations will be accepted. If you have an old creation you want to enter, please rework and reshare as new.

6. No templates or borrowed creations: No templates or edits of others' creations. Entries must be your original work (your own templates are okay).

7. Cheats: AddDNA, freedom, and invisi-limbs are allowed. But be warned - entries made with the freedom cheat will not be eligible for the adventure due to complexity.

8. No Bot Parts: Bot parts are not allowed.

9. C&C and GA OK: Creepy & Cute (C&C) parts and Galactic Adventure (GA) Captain parts are okay. All creature outfitters are okay also.



What will you win if you are chosen as an elite Time Traveler? The answer - a place in the upcoming Time Traveler adventure that is so huge we have to break it down into two parts!! You will receive a special GA medal and badge for your achievement.

And that’s not all, every category above will have it’s own set of 1st - 3rd place winners that will receive trophies. All first place winners will also receive a customized sig. The overall contest Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion will receive a special one of a kind trophy and a customized sig to proudly display on their profile.

Nobody walks away empty handed from one of our contests! There will also be a participant’s medal and badge for everyone.

Then enter the bonus challenge and win additional awards while earning extra points that count towards becoming the Time Traveler Grand Champion. It’s easy to enter, write your best Time Traveler Story or make a Video featuring your entries and submit them on this thread. Or do both and earn even more points and prizes!

Wait that’s not enough you say? How about a chance to get double points and win even more amazing stuff? Team up with a few of your closest Spore Buddies and create your own Time Traveler GA! And don’t forget to show us your movie of the GA!



Story: should be no more than 500 words. Will receive additional points towards calculating the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. Top Story Winners will receive their own customized signature and trophy.



Video: should be no more than 5 minutes. Must be only your creations. If you are making your video from a GA, you may use old creations as filler they do not have to be published to the Sporepedia. Maxis creations are acceptable as filler also. Will receive additional points towards calculating the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. Top Video Winners will receive their own customized signature and trophy.



Team GA: team up with as many members as you like, 2 minimum to be considered a team. Must be only your team’s creations. You may use old creations as long as they belong to a team member. You may use Maxis creations. Each team member will receive double points towards calculating the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. Top Team Winners will receive their own customized signature and trophy, so think of a good team name to appear on your siggie!

Update 1: For those who are or wish to participate - we understand that the time to get organized and make an adventure is pretty limited, especially if you have to make dozens of creations. To help you out, we are going to share with you a Sporecast of creations that we have made. You can use any of the creations in the Time Traveler Props Sporecast at http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=ssc-500695399087 in your adventure.

Updated: For each category that is a time period there will be sub-categories for stuff made with the creature editor and props made with any editor - all will be judged for awards. There will also be team GA entries where you can use any editor to make your GA stuff. And there will be some video entries where you can use stuff you made in any editor - so many, many possibilities. The judges are going to have fried brains when this is over. LOL

Details on what we are looking for will be released on the 27th. Because there will be so much, we wanted to give everybody a little time to think about it and get ideas. Hope to see your stuff in the contest.

Also do the things have to be historically accurate,ie. can we invent Dinosaurs or the like or can we invent tribes or peoples of Humanity....Oh and another question...Can we enter Aliens and robots in the Future?

For exact details of what you can create within all time periods of the contest, you best can wait untill the full details are on the contest topic on December 27th, especially about what you can create for the Dinosaur period. Would be funny if you create yourself as a "time-traveller" within on of the time periods Ofcourse you can enter Aliens and robots in the Future!

And very important: this contest has a great storyline challenge as well!

Before sharing your creations please be aware of the entry limits: that will be 8 in total, so better not share before you are completely satisfied with your creation!

EDIT: yes that warrior looks great and fits the ancient time period. Ancient time period will be classic Greek or Roman style!
