You probably don't know this but Rinckle are very effective battlers. If you attack a size one empire, the pirates pose much more of a threat.

I have a scientific race, and yesterday I conquered my first planet Grox * applause *. I did the following:

1-Partner with an empire near of the Grox.

2- Move quickly to the Grox planet closest to you.

3-Enter rapidly in the atmosphere.

4-Active shield.

5-Use the gravity wave.

6- Quickly destroyed the Grox ships using anti matter missiles before your shield is disabled.

7-Use the terraforming tools.

8-Complete the ecosystem to reach at least T1

9-Place a colony and an uber turret

10-Talk to the settlers, buy the things you have spent during the attack and prepared to attack the next planet.

I think just using a shield and then making it to T1 would be enough and not have to wait a while to get the wave recharged
