I know I'm not the only one...you're sitting at the computer, in the Spore menu screen. You watch your galaxy, with its various saved games, all aglow in the light of the twinkling stars. You grab the galaxy, and spin it slowly, listening to the menu music, what I have come to call "The Galaxy Theme."
Spore is the most enchanting, addicting, and captivating game I have ever played. Despite the occasional crash(I'm running on a Vista PC bought in April...believe it or not, I love Vista). I've spent over 50 hours playing since the day it came out(I know because I earned the Spore Fan Achievement...Spore Addict achievement, here I come). I purchased the Galactic Edition, something I'll never regret. This game has made this 25-year old feel like a kid again.
The frosting on the cake is the Galaxy Theme. I've gone outside at night and gazed up at the arm of our own Milky Way, with that music drifting through my mind. Maxis, I want to take that feeling with me wherever I go. From the bottom of my heart, I make this little request: release a game soundtrack CD. I'd buy it for that theme alone, so I can take my own personal galaxy everywhere with me.

The Sound Design is absolutely fantastic. Props to the entire team. I don't share your enthusiasm for Starbucks, unfortunately

Supposedly all the music in Spore is generated procedurally, that is, a program makes it up on the fly.
I agree, the music is pretty nice. Each of my creations seems to have a theme song based upon its type and its parts.
But this would be hard to put on a CD as a soundtrack. EA/Maxis could release the code as a stand-alone and let people record their own procedural music, but they'd probably claim rights to the creations and charge people with piracy if they shared their music.

The music on the start screen is not procedural, however.

Yeah, I'm thinking of the menu music, rather than the music created by users and for the various alien empires.
I also wish there was a way to get a .wav file of the theme I made for my Weebits, like as an exported file from the anthem maker or something. Oh well.

Only the music ingame is procedural.
It would not be an easy task to put this on a CD and have it entertain us.
Concidering what i do for a living I'm at awe over this part of the game. Its too strong to be released as shareware or opensource. Far to many aplecations for it. Well I would pay for an aplet that alowed me to use the code

As far as I can tell the only thing really "procedural" as far as soundtracks go are the anthems. Otherwise each editor has its own soundtrack.
