Sporemaster Edit: If ctrl-shift-c does not work and the HP fix below in this thread does not apply try using ctrl-shift-WindowsLogoKey-C and that should do it for you. Also a program called CursorFX is known to use the same keyboard shortcut and will prevent Spore from using that shortcut.

I know that the way you open the cheat box is ctrl-shift-c, but evertytime I do it, nothing happens.
I'm on my first play through on Normal on the Space stage.
I've pretty much done everything, so I thought I would mess around with the cheats for a bit.

Anyone know what's wrong?

Im having the same prob... other than the help -full stuff...

EVERYONE I SOLVED THIS PROBLEM!!!!! IM SO HAPPY!!!!

If you are having this problem its probably because your computer opens another program when you press the [ctrl]+[shift]+c. If this is the case it wont allow you to open the cheat box in the game.

To fix this
1. close spore and go to your desktop
2. press [ctrl]+[shift]+c to figure out what program it opens (in my case it opened hp health center)
3. now close the progam that [ctrl]+[shift]+c opened
4. go to start (on desktop)
5. find and RIGHT click on the shortcut that you opened in step 2
6. click properties
7. go to shortcut tab
8. change the shortcut to something thats not being used (it will tell you if your new one conflicts with another program)
9. dont forget to click Apply


And problem solved I already tried it to be sure

It isn't working for me. Nothing opens when I use Ctrl+Shift+C, and it doesn't open the console either. I am on Vista, if that matters.

I have the same problem myself, and I'm using vista as is the last poster. Any word on what's going on there?

There may be some other program that is causing this to occur. Try closing all possible programs before launching Spore including those that usually remain running in the background.

Helps for me! . Buuuuuuut I don't know what's wrong, my friend has that problem too. I don't know what to do.

For some reason, it didn't pop up for me either. I still found it though. search 'hp health' (in windows explorer) and click hp health check (or whatever yours is called). then proceed normally to #5. I'm not sure if it'll work for you, but it did for me.

Alternately, you can use Ctrl - Shift - windows key - C to bring up the console. This issue occurs most frequently on HP systems and some iterations of Vista.

If you're playing on a Mac, you might want to try Command-Shift-C. Command is the Mac-version of the Windows key.
