May Update
Good morning all, or afternoon or evening or night, depending on where and when you are. Just a brief addition here to remind you all that responding to spammers, trolls and suchlike is strongly discouraged as it only encourages them to continue. It is to be hoped the majority of those currently plaguing us will be removed in the next couple of days, but in the meantime, please try your very best just to ignore them and get on with your day as best you can.

----

December Update
If you are experiencing a browser lock-up due to a record number of youtube videos spammed in a single post, please do the following:

Temporarily disable Flash until the videos are removed by a moderator if you want to continue posting in the thread. You can do this in a few browsers, though it is easier in some than others.

Firefox
Go to Tools>Add-ons>Plug-ins and disable the Flash plug-in.

Chrome
You can disable Flash by going to Options>Under the Hood>Content Settings>Disable individual plug-ins and disabling Flash

Opera
I am not sure how to disable Flash individually in Opera, but you can temporarily disable all plug-ins by going to Settings>Preferences>Advanced>Content and unchecking "Enable Plug-ins."

IE
Go to Tools>Manage Add-Ons and find Shockwave Flash Objects. Disable it. (Thanks, joefesok!)

Safari
No idea. If you know how to disable it, post here or PM me.

October Update
We have something new coming up in our Forum Guidelines
• No advertising/spamming (Posting in a Spam thread or responding to a troll will be considered spam)
Our community manager agreed that not only posting in spam threads but also making threads about spammers will be considered as being against the guidelines. So, if there's a spam attack going on, or a really obvious spam thread, please don't reply. Just hit the alert button and/or PM a Sporemaster.

-----------------------------------------------

READ THREAD IN CASE OF TROLLS

Banana-flavored update: If you receive PMs, from any of these people do not reply. Don't even bother looking; just delete them.

We've had lots of trolls lately. Who are they exactly? Lolicont? Marshviper? BlackIce? Actually, we don't know because they don't exist. If you see one of these persons or any variant, they're not really there. In fact, if you keep posting normally, it's pretty much guaranteed that they'll cease to exist all together. Even the idea of them will just go POOF and vanish.

In the meantime, while they're being erased, here's what you can do!

How everyone can help everyone else!

1. Keep posting normally.
2. Hit that alert button!
3. PM a moderator or contact one through other channels.
4. Do not post ANY response to the troll - JUST IGNORE

How you can help yourself!

1. Keep posting normally.
2. Block content.

Chrome Users - So awesome you don't need to block anything.

Firefox Users
If you use the Firefox Internet browser, you can install the add-on Nuke Anything Enhanced. Then you just right-click and nuke the images posted by the spammer. It's like your own private moderation tool.

Opera Users
Opera has a function like the Firefox add-on built into the browser. Simply right-click anywhere on the page and select "Block content." Then click on the content you want to block. It's that easy!

Internet Explorer/Chrome Users
I'm afraid Internet Explorer users are out of luck here and I don't know if Chrome can target individual objects easily. Obviously if someone is spamming pictures from photobucket, you don't want to block the whole domain. If any enterprising Chrome users know how to make single-object content blocking easy, shoot me a PM.

K-meleon Users
Why are you still using this browser?

It's important that you do not acknowledge the presence of trolls or spammers. Mostly because they don't exist. So don't talk about them or change the titles of your threads to silly things like "OMG A SPAM ATTACK WE'RE GONNA DIE." Just keep posting like they're not there. Because they're not.

Other important information:

1. You cannot get a virus from clicking on a thread.
2. Do not click off-site links posted by spammers/trolls. In fact, just don't click any of their links.

1. You cannot get a virus from clicking on a thread.
This is very important, and all people who spread the foul rumor so they can spam should be banned.

This. This is win.

But a more appealing title may be a good idea to lure those who never read more than the initial Sporum Guidelines.
