The Brog Empire.
Sporecast Link: Here
The Brog Empire has not professed one single philosophy in their doings on other planets, as well as their own. They have trained soldiers, made weapons, but they've also done scientific experiments.
The Brog empire, despite their large array of weaponry and Grox-like qualities, they are actually rather kind aliens. The Brog homeplanet, Bworai, does not contain many creatures. Instead, it hosts an array of flora. It is unknown what the oceans contain as of now. Each Brog, is born with four eyes, and two ears. This allows them to hear enemies coming from very far away. The eyesight would be rather poor if the Brog's were to have two eyes, but with all four, their vision is excellent.
Living on a docile planet for a long time, they had no need for warfare. However, none of the cities made any move to have any sort of interaction with another city. So, the species remained asleep, so to speak. However, when a large meteor fell, and destroyed one of the cities, they realized that they needed to unite to help them. Soon, with all the nation's help, they found the secret of space travel. Their first spaceship was nothing but a hunk of hollowed-out metal that they threw an engine on. But soon, they learned the artistry and efficiency of making different kinds of ships, such as fighters, or carriers. Soon, they made an alliance with the Novae empire. This act would soon be known as the Novae Coalition, which contained many species in one large alliance. They each supplied their specialties to the Coalition, allowing all the empires in it to [live long and
] prosper. This brings us up to present day.
Epic War involvement:
The Brog Empire emerged into an area of already-inhabited space, but the neighbors took pity. They allowed the Brog empire to leave temporary colonies on their planets until they could find some empty planets. The Brog's were having a lot of trouble. They soon started a trade route with the Rycarians. They hoped they could someday buy out the planet from them. Over time, the Brog empire amassed much wealth. Soon, they had enough to buy the planet, Arcuria.
There is a large rift between the rich and the poor on Bworai. In contrast to past events on other planets, the poor have the advantage of the law over the rich. There are many laws that benefit the poor more than the rich. The rich dislike this, but keep quiet, because they know what happens to traitors on Bworai. Death by devouring. They drop them into a pit of small Iksla bugs, and then leave. There is no mess to clean up after the Ikslas, as they devour the whole creature, bones and all. The government only uses this punishment in certain cases, such as murder, genocide, or treason. The government is led by an oligarchy. They have several leaders, often 3 at a time, who come together to decide what is best for the colony and the people. Below them is the Senate, who will decide the basic issues of daily life for the colonies. Then it divides into governors and mayors, the latter of whom take care of small portions of each colony. The families in the colonies are often small. The parents are only allowed by law to have two children, unless specifically ordered to have more. This act of population control is disagreed with by many officials at the time, but laws that attempt to oppose it are vetoed quickly.
Each fleet of Brog fighters diverges into a U shape. They surround the enemy, then turn in on them, and blast them to bits. It's a very risky pattern, but it's also effective at almost all the time. In the middle of each 'U-squad', as it's called, there is a large battleship. If the enemy in front is too strong to take out with fighters, the U inverts, and covers the battleship's tail. It then blasts the stronger enemies to pieces before allowing the U-squad to surround it again. This attack is one of many based on letters. They also have an O-squad, surrounding the valuable quarry like elephants do a calf, and shoot outwards, creating an impregnable circle of death. But their most lethal attack of all is the D-squad. While not in the shape of the letter, as some of their other attacks, it is the soldiers on board that are the real weapon. Aboard the ship are several genetically modified Brog's, known as Dreadbrogs. This D-class of soldiers is used in boarding, so that there will be nothing alive when they are finished. The normal soldiers than board, usher the D-class back into the ship, and take it over. The Dreadbrogs are super-intelligent, but are often violent right after a battle, posing a danger to their own soldiers. However, there are D's that can suppress said anger, and rise through the ranks to being a commander. The normal class of soldiers usually runs behind a couple of Dreadbrogs, as the D's will make a large hole in the enemy lines that will make it much easier to capture a victory. Behind the normal soldiers will be a fleet of fighters used as mop-up units for the soldiers. However, their weakness is in their numbers. They don't have a large number of soldiers, maybe 500, and certainly not a large number of D-Brogs. Their ships are few in number, often being around 5 or 10 to a fleet, and there being 10 fleets.
