Originally I never would have checked, had not one of my friends PMd me and told me I was like #16 or something. Most of the ones I've had go high were contest creations, but Reacher also went way up there.

After spending one evening watching the MPN, I realized how easy it would be to invest way too much time of my life in it. I do look now to see what other people are creating, like one or two times a month, but I would never feel good about the time I'd waste watching another one of mine.

Not when I could go out and lay on the shire mare's warm back and watch the crows coming home with the sunset.

That's an easy choice in my mind.

I been on it only only 5-6 times, and the highest I made it was #1 with my War Elephant.

Mine was so high, it got past rank #1 and disappeared off the scale.

That isn't a good thing I would think, at least in terms of getting attention payed to your stuff.

I have been really really really high on....wait what were we talking about? Oh yeah! I've been # 1 once I think. Is there any point to this thread? I've enjoyed the off-topic stuff about playing spode with the rates but other than that....well there's not much use in this thread. To be fair, consistent, and seemingly logical, there's not much point to 95(ish)% of this forum.

People spend way so much time trying to brag about what they've accomplished that we just overlook the good creators and mass uprate the already overrated just because it's "friendly" and not because the caliber of said creations is superb (or even mediocre which is the standard for excellence around here). This is not to say the creations themselves are inherently sub-mediocre at best (or at worst) - the point is that a rating shouldn't be determined by how well you like/dislike the creator, it should be based on the caliber of the creation.

Now keep in mind that this is just my opinion and plenty of people will likely disagree with me. I'm not the lord of everything. I'm just the Pope and need I remind anyone of my nitty gritty ways?

At one point, I used to care more about the MPN.

The use of dishonest methods such as mass uprating and targeted mass downrating has turned me off of it quite a bit.

I would encourage all creators to use only one account to rate on, and to simply ignore a creation if it displeases them. Also, good comments mean quite a lot to creators.

Success without merit is meaningless and empty.
