Hmm, funny how i have been here since the beginning yet not noticed many of them. Also October and september were still quite spammy in my opinion, yet i think it got better.

Automatic added link from forum to sporepedia

I would like to have an additional button next to "Profile" and "PM" that links directly to the Sporepedia-Profil. Some users have used the "www" button for this, but not all users. A PM button in the other direction would be helpful, too.

Please repair the alert button. Right now we have to PM a SporeMaster, but we don't know, if the SM is too busy to react fast enough. And the Spam is getting more in the meantime.

A visible warn level for spammers

To reduce the spam / offtopic level in the Sporum, it could be handy to have an additional level system next to the karma. This is only rated by using the alert button and needs confirmation by the SporeMasters. But it should be work automatically.

A rank between SM and normal users

The SMs have enough to do. So a "SporeHelper" - or whatever it is called - with more rights than a normal user but less right than a SM - could help to keep the Sporum useful for newbies and tidy enough for veterans. These rights could be change the subject of a thread (if it named wrong), move threads into the correct forum section, reprimand users (tagging them with a short time flag) and have a higher priority to alert a SM. These helpers are only nominate for a fixed time (e.g. 2 weeks) but if they have done their jobs well, they can re-nominated of course. _______________________________________________________________________________

A starter of a thread should be able: To mark a offtopic/spam post for deletion; to lock the thread, ban a user from posting. If a post is marked by the OP, that post should be hidden by a message like "It is requested to be delete this post."

Stop the abuse of trial accounts

A flood of spammers (or maybe only one childish toddler) are using trial accounts for creating new accounts to start spamming. Trial accounts should not be able to posts messages or it should be visible in the forum, that this account is only a trial account.

i agree we need a more noticable rules post but it is also a nomral members duty to help new mebers and tell them about all this stuff, i rember when i was new poeple weer nic enad helped me out and now everyone yells.

Members will always come and go, especially when the seasons change, people go back to school, get different games for Christmas and birthdays, etc.

Check it. Societies always change and are always nostalgic for the "good ol' days" even when they were just 6 months ago. If this place stays around as long as PE2K, it will see many, many changes and in 6 months people will mostly say "Who?" about the most creative people, after they leave.

I hang around GD, because I think new people are funny and fun, for the most part. The people bold enough to post before they learn all the rules are often the most innovative and funny people in the long run. People worth keeping. So I don't care if it takes some "coaching" to get them to understand things.

Most people sort out into other parts of the board, but the new people will always come here first. And because this game draws kids, and also a lot of people new to forums, they will make lots of etiquette mistakes. That doesn't make them bad by ANY means.

I am ashamed for the sporum members who spam and flame in the guise of "protecting" or "elevating" the sporum.

They are just talking cr** and they know it. There are too many people who are willing to do exactly what they decry.

There are too many dilettantes, and none of them are Oscar Wilde.

And what about the baby-ish behaviour of screaming wildly about spam or necroing... It's worse than the original offence --- and more offensive, since the people spreading the spammish "warnings" are the ones who pretend to "know better".

Worse even are the long congratulations later about "destroying" some poor dope who was harrassed into leaving, or "survival" of 8 or 9 threads about drek that anybody using their head would've known was a spam thread and easily avoided (or laughed at).

I'll continue to help people where I can, but the only people I'll be "accountable" to are Maxis and the sporemasters. I don't want to be part of any finger-shaking posse. Those never end well.

Good luck with the good intentions, and geez, let's just be DECENT to each other and that would fix 9/10 of the problems around here.
