It seems there's an abundance of tools that server little to no purpose in the game, and that's really a shame to me. See the list below:

- Crop Circles: only feasible use I've seen is to isolate some colonists so you can target infected easier.
- Happiness Booster: Have yet to see this impact the happiness of a planet
- Loyalty Booster: Does this have any impact on how loyal a race remains to you?
- Supersizer: What's the point? Just for giggle? I supersized one of my own creations on a wildlife preserve, and then returned later to find it was gone.
- Creature Tweeker: Why bother? You could easily just import a creature into the creater and modify it to your own liking.
- Create creature: Again, why bother?

So you can market it as have X amount of tools in game for higher sales .

I could have done it better with the same funds and manpower. 'It' being the variable in this statement. - Me

I wouldn't be surprised if those tools had some kind of function in Spore 2005.

For those of you who find Spore entertaining, may I also recommend Chutes and Ladders, Candyland, Crazy Eights, and Checkers?

It would be cool to imagine what they could do though

EI.

Crop circles- allows communication with primitive scocieties and alows a primitive sort of communication with alien space faring species (asuming the universal communicater is not present)

Happiness booster- increases the happiness of the colonies allowing you to put more factories while sitll having happy colonies or if you don't increase the amount of factories you get a minor happiness discount on goods from the colony

Loyalty booster- Say colonies may decide to bcome rebel or pirate colonies if they are mistreated and loyalty booster would make it near impossiable for the colony to do that(threats bribes happyness)

Supersizer- Epic creatures stay and if 2 or more epic creaturesx are around you can see a godzilla vs. kingkong like battle (minus the city)

Creature Tweaker- While i cannot think of a new funtion for this i can tell you that it is usefull if you need another herivore or carnivore to complete the ecosystem

Creature Creator- See creature Tweaker

Creature Tweaker and Creature Creator make it a little easier to fill out ecosystems. Too expensive to be really useful, but not useless.

The rest are wastes of time, money, and everything else as far as I know.

you're probably right, they seem to be leftovers of some more revolutionary complex game. however i'm going to cry "fire" when there's a payed expansion required to actually make them work like intended.

btw the happiness booster has an effect: seems to make the civilisation you use it upon mad at you lol.

Like what the others said, Happiness Booster, Creature Tweeker and Create creature have uses in game.

Crop Circles and Supersizer are eye candy. Every games have this kind of thing to make the game a bit more fun even though they may have no actually function. If you think they should not exist then you may as well say that all the creatures should have no animation, no voice and no coloring.

Not sure about Loyalty Booster. It is possible that it had function in 2005 version. Maybe they had gave colonies a "Loyalty rating" at that time. If the colonies have too many unhappy face, or you always neglect their cry for help, the Loyalty rating may drop gradually and the colonies become rebel. They probably thought this was too complicated for the casual players and dropped it. =/

A quick search at spore wiki about Loyalty Booster: no one know if it has actual function yet......

Possibility: Does it prevent riots from unhappy colonies? (Maybe someone can test having a few colonies with 5 unhappy face and see if they go rebel?) Does it slow down the speed the capture bar progresses? (Quite possible imo) Does it stop your colonies from surrendering entirely? (I don't think so)

Please, quit calling it "tweeker". It's tweaker.

I know, tiny thing. I'm just a freak about grammar.

That's spelling not grammar!

Creature tweaker/create are great for populating a food web with the creatures you want rather than some standard livestock. Bring a carnivore and tweak it into two different herbivores... it's actually kind of fun.

As far as the comment about them being too expensive to be useful... after 50,000,00 sporebucks in the bank, money is really no object. I haven't felt strapped for cash in a week, and I buy 2 or 3 systems an hour.

As far as Loyalty and Happiness boosters... I know that I've never had a colony revolt on a planet with either one of them, but that's just anecdotal. No real clue.

I've heard that the crop circles function as a low grade monolith, if you do it at nigh

And come one the Creature creater and the Epiciser? If you don't like these why would you like spore? It's all about customisation. What do you think of the terra-coloring tools.

It not like it really matters if some are useless. We're not aiming for efficiency when playing this game.

Really? In a game where you can buy fireworks?

Dunno about Crop Circles, but I've found the Supersizer useful - I supersized a couple of critters next to an enemy city then left to do something else. When I came back later, it was still wreaking havok on their city[1].

Probably not the most efficient approach, but not an entirely useless tool either...

[1] It seems like it can't take out their city hall, but everything else was razed.

Fireworks are useful until you get the Super happy ray. They serve a similar purpose, but use ammunition. (Actually, they might even be useful after that, since they aren't an energy-hog like the happy ray).

The happiness ray used to give you a keyboard of different notes that all caused slightly different emotions. Then they decided you could just be content with the happy ray.
