Lately, I've been trying to develop a railroad system or metro rail, that actually works with cars/trains moving up and down the line. I've tried using a space ship as a car above a rail, but unless the captain is on the car, it flies directly up. I've also tried putting invisible gates above the car, so it doesn't fly up, but it just got stuck flying up. But I haven't tried a railroad on the ground yet. If it is possible to make a railroad/metro system in an adventure, it would would really add to it, even if the captain couldn't use it. So is there any way to make a working metro/railroad system?

If the captain can't ride it, it'd be a lot easier. Yeah, I suppose it can be made. Use ground vehicles and set them on patrol around the area you wish.

Then keep doing test runs until you're happy with the result.

In case you want the captain to ride it, be sure to make it move as slow as possible and be flat on top, so it doesn't glitch under the captain's feet.

I doubt railroads would work. The pathfinding and vehicle shells make it near to impossible.

Better off using teleporters instead.

Thanks, that was something to think about, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. Here's the adventure that inspired me to try this: http://www.spore.com/sporepedia#qry=advasrch-cbfstudios%3Afi-author%3Afu-ADV_ATTACK%2CADV_COLLECT%2CADV_DEFEND%2CADV_EXPLORE%2CADV_UNSET%2CADV_PUZZLE%2CADV_QUEST%2CADV_SOCIALIZE%2CADV_STORY%2CADV_TEMPLATE%3Aidx-20%3Afl-MOST_POPULAR (It's called "City Template") The creator has a rail with static cars on it, and uses teleporters to get around. I was thinking pretty much the same thing, but with moving cars and just for scenery, and not use.

Cars are easy to do, but railroads wouldn't work very well unless you kept them going straight.

You can certainly make cars patrol about. But using multiple vehicles as a train won't work -- they don't follow each other close enough to be a train or they try to take different paths. Using a single vehilce can work as a train, but will only look good if they are traveling straight.

In addition, getting vehicles to move near buildings or disguised gates can be difficult.

Maybe experimenting with vehicles following eachother in a line, could work better. (Although I doubt it'd be good. Still, worth a shot.)

It's mainly a question of test running over and over again, until you're glad with your changes. =)

For land vehicles, the real problem is making them go straight. I have one vehicle going down a straight line, but it always swerves left and right near the end.

You could set the first one to speed 3 and the rest speed 5 so they keep up...

It isn't that they can't keep up, it is the nature of the follow AI logic. If you set vehicle B to follow vehicle A, vehicle B stops when it gets too close to A, then A gets too far away to B starts, then gets too close to A, then stops, and so on.
