Anyone else feel they realllly need to add some kind of range limitation to the distance at which disasters can occur relatvie to your ship?

I think this picture sums it up wonderfully:

I get a callout to save one of my allies from an eco disaster and I have 4 minutes, to fly over 500 parsecs and then find and destroy the targets before the time runs out, then I have fly back another 500 parsecs before I can resume what I was doing. (For the record, I arrived exactly 10 seconds too late, and got down to 4/5 kills before it timed out)

As the empire expands, the distance you're expected to fly to some events gets increasingly longer to the point the time it'd take to reach the target, is longer than the time you have in which to complete it short of having all the black holes mapped out

As I see there is 2 solutions:
1) Easier: Add a range limitation to stop events happening unreasonably far from you.
2) Better: Add a delegate button to the event window, so you can delegate the task to one of your other allies, or the requesting ally, at a slight cost to your reputation with them (Which recovers over time if you don't delegate too often).

Delegating it to another ally would be nice; it could provide a bonus to relations between the two allies while costing small amounts of relation or money or something minor (it wouldn't ever be enough to ruin a relationship on its own or really hurt you).

Delegation would be great - but only if there were limits on which allies you could choose to deal with the problem. And even then, it's possible to have so many in a given area that you'll never need to deal with any call, ever again. So it's awfully hard to balance that option.

The range limitation is good. In the patch, they've implemented it a bit so that I receive less requests from the colonies around my homeworld (while I'm at the center of the galaxy), but I'd rather they never happened. Or limit it, so attacks can happen, but they're on their own for ecodisasters. The reason I say that is because colonies can deal with raids using uber turrets and such, but with ecodisasters it's always up to you, and you always have the same 4 minute timer no matter where you are in the galaxy.

Installations of secret software that create security risks are intrusive and unlawful. Consumers’ computers belong to them, and companies must adequately disclose unexpected limitations on the customary use of their products so consumers can make informed decisions regarding whether to purchase and install that content. - FTC Chairwoman Deborah Platt Majoras, on the Sony BMG CD DRM scandal of 2005

Limiting distance to comm range is a great idea. If I'm that far away I shouldn't even exist as far as those colonies are concerned.
