Guys i am mailing with the support of EA, and they came with this solution.... For me this didnt work but give it a try and let me know....

Greetings Quick
THis is XP... not Vista

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I'm sorry that you’re having difficulties with the game.

Then try cleaning out your Temporary directory. Do not delete the folder
itself, open the folder, select all of the contents, and then delete them.

1. Double click on "My Computer"
2. Double click on the C: drive
3. Double click on the "Windows" folder.
4. Double click on the "Temp" folder.
5. Hold the "CTRL" key and tap the "A" key to select all.
6. Tap the "Delete" key on your keyboard and accept the "Are you sure you
want to delete these files" prompt.

You may get an error that some of these files can't be deleted. This is
usually because they are currently in use, so let's end any program that
would be using these temporary files.

1. Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time
2. Click the "Processes" tab.
3. Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by
user name.
4. Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE.
5. Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or
other user names.
6. Click on END PROCESS
7. Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for
this user profile.

Note that some applications may take multiple times before closing. Don't
worry that you are permanently changing your system configuration; these
applications will return when you restart your system.

I was looking forward to a less frenzied space game but now nothing works. I figured coming from maxis this game would've had a lot more polish on it than what it currently has for a shipped title. Do they still test things before they release them?

Pretty much the sum of it for me too, sound delays and creatures not loading. I know with every patch something gets messed up (Been threw this with wow) but that gets fixed like a day or 2 later. Im hoping EA/Maxis get's this fixed sooner then later or im just goin to toss the game out. Whats the point of playing something when the sounds 30sec behind or you cant see anything. Its rly annoying.
it is the sam for me how do we fix it

Thats just a standard automated answer... I asked them once why I my C&C-TW crashes if I start a game and I got the same cr*p answer. I never asked them again. BTW I found out the cause of the crashing by myself... Unlike Generals, C&C-TW seems to be unable to manage network drives... Since I am in a domain and my "My Documents" points to a network path (starting with the "\\"), C&CTW wasnt able to find the path, cause the game was always adding a ":" before the "\\" ... I solved this by mapping the destination path, giving it a drive letter and then letting the "My Documents" point to the mapped drive. Now the game was able to find the path.
Well I was expecting EA to tell me that

Hello Spore;

Thanks Spitt!

My thanks to Spitt for his help on solving the freeze up when trying to leave the home world. His suggestion to clean out the fountains, lamps and plants from the cities worked. He pointed out that the game was putting these items into the cities on its own. I found these items had been placed under the town hall building using up memory causing the glitch. In each of my home world town halls I found up to 100 of these items placed in one spot in the middle under the town hall! Yes that is 100! After removing these I have been able to free up the graphics and am again able to play ! I have hollow centered buildings so I was able to see that there was items under the town hall so for those of you having a similar problem you may have to remove the town hall to clean under it.

Spore maintenance persons please take note of this situation and patch the problem.

I havent seen this problem yet but with how long this thread is i could be wrong XD

so i havent been able to really install this patch. oh sure it downloaded fine, at least that's what it tells me. so i launch the wizard to install it then it does is thing perfectly and tells me to hit finish. ok normal right? spore restarts yadda yadda log back in.... there's a new patch available. would you like to download it? O-o again? is there really another patch? click ok instantly download is "finished"... then the proces repeated itself AGAIN and i realized it wasn't really installing the patch like it said it was. it keeps TELLING me everything installed fine and dandy but then it puts me into this horrible loop of "installing" the same one patch over... and over... and over...

now this would bother me less if my game didnt start to be buggy lately with the homeworld crashes and such so <_<;; i'd kind of like to get past this patch so i can get to any future patches =( i tried everything on the front page but it doesnt work. even after running it manually through that windows installer folder... it just gets deleted when it prompts me to restart (the installed files i mean). and if i dont restart it still keeps looping me through install anyway >_< its getting to be quite frustrating.

specs are:
windows vista ultimate 32-bit
processor: intel core2 duo CPU 9300 @2.5ghz
4gb ram
manufacturer:alienware

it is a laptop and i am aware that spore's been hating on some laptops and it started out that way for me too till i ran the game off the cd... or well now i started using an image of the cd because it loads faster o___oa dont know if that affects anything. i got the game as a bday present from a friend who ironically was QA-ing spore the fmvs just loaded slow so i made an image to make it go faster =X.

any (serious, non-crticizing) help would be appreciated =( i just want to go back to letting my cute Squick Commander fly around abusing the spice market so I can buy the blue spice planet off my buddy/ally race =( not to mention get my little newly evolved Angelings up into space as well. thanks!

I am not sure how many folks encountered that problem, but I have noticed I can run almost ANY application on Windows XP SP3... EXCEPT a program called ctfmon.exe. If I want to run Spore, I cannot do so without shutting down ctfmon.exe... whatever that is. I don't care. Once I shut it down, it doesn't seem to reload really... sometimes it does. So, any time I want to run Spore, I make sure ctfmon.exe is closed down.

Regardless....

WHY ARE MY CREATURES THUMBNAILS DISPLAYING SO TERRIBLY SINCE THE PATCH?!?!

Galactic Adventures... looks like it's going to be another non-tanned summer!

Hey,

I'm another one of those people who have been having problems since the patch. My creatures have become unresponsive, from simply having a time delay between animations (such as hatching from an egg in creature stage; egg disappears, three seconds pass, then creature appears) to simply skipping whole animations by themselves (interacting between another species with a friendly stance, it often skips the singing or the dancing.) Other known problems is a VERY slow fighting movement, I would be able to charge someone and then have to wait about a minute before I could bite them, while they would be attacking me just fine. I have also had some problems in the space stage, but they were about the same as above except more adapted for the space stage. One example is that when I go to change my species clothing, the game needs about five minutes before it realizes I want to place something. Before the patch, my game was running smoothly with no problems. When there is a solution to this problem, does anyone mind e-mailing me at krimsonace@hotmail.com. Thanks, and before this rant is finished, I still have to commend EA on a great game. Good job!

Does anyone have a fix for the patched SPORE to fix the invisible creatures bug. I can live with laged sound and rays, but hunting animals or saving my homeworld from attack when all i got to go on is a contrail is annoying, playable but annoying

This won't help the game crashes due to the patch. What they're asking you to do is reduce the number of programs running on your computer via brute-force, potentially closing viruses, or a lot of crapware on your computer that starts up every time you boot up. This might help but only if you had issues BEFORE the patch as well, and if this were to help, this is a crappy way to do it.

If you really want to remove malware/crapware on your machine, on XP, download and install Windows Defender (google it, it's free from Microsoft) or on Vista load up Windows Defender from the Control Panel. Open it up and:
* Click Tools
* Click Software Explorer
* For each item you see in the Startup list you think is unnecessary, Disable it
* When you've disabled everything you suspect is unnecessary, restart your machine to see the results
* If there are things missing you preferred to have running (maybe you accidentally disabled your battery monitor and would like it back for example) open Windows Defender back up and Enable it again
* For everything else you're happy to have gone, Remove it.

Enjoy a cleaner, faster computer.

But this still WON'T fix the game itself, the patch is just plain broken.
